Aunidirectionaltireprofileisidentifiedbyarrows
onthetiresidewallthatpointintherunningdi-
rection.Youmustalways maintainthespecified
runningdirection.Thisisnecessarytoensurethe
tire'soptimumperformanceinregardtoadhe-
sion,runningnoise,andfriction,andtoreduce
theriskofhydroplaning.

Tobenefitfullyfromtheadvantagesoftheuni-
directionaltiredesign,youshouldreplacefaulty
tiresassoonaspossibleandrestorethecorrect
runningdirectiononallofthetires.

youremoved,andinstallthatinplace ofthe
fronttirethatfailed.

—Afterinstallingasparetire,thetirepressure
mustbecheckedassoonaspossible.
—Donotdrivefasterthan50mph(80km/h)
withacompactsparetire.Drivingfaster
thanthatincreasestheriskofanaccident.

accelerationorbrakinganddrivingfast
aroundcurveswiththecompactsparetire.
—To reducetheriskofanaccident,neverdrive
withmorethanonecompactsparetire.
—Normalsummerorwintertiresmustnotbe

Towingrequiresacertainamountofpractice.Au-
direcommendscontactingatowingcompanyto
havethevehicletransported.
Youshouldonlyhaveyourvehicletowedbyan-
othervehiclewhendisabledinexceptionalcir-
cumstances.Inexperienceddriversshould not
tow.

willnot besufficientlylubricatediftravelingat
highspeedsandlongdistances:
—Themaximumpermittedtowingspeedis30
mph(50km/h).

Thevehiclemayonlybetowedwiththefrontaxle
raised.Donotwrapanychainsorcablesaround
thebrakelines.
Ifthevehicleshould betowedwiththeaxle
raised,thentheignitionmustbe switchedoffto
reducetheriskofdamagetothedrivetrain.
Towbarandtowingcable
Thevehiclecanbetowedwithatowbarortow-
ingcable.Bothdriversshould befamiliarwith
thespecialconsiderationswhentowing,especial-
lywhenusingatowingcable.
Alwaysmakesurethetractionforcedoesnotex-
ceed thepermittedlevelandtherearenoshock
loadingconditions.Thereisalwaystheriskofthe
couplingbecomingoverloadedwhendrivingoff-
road.
Forthemostsafetyandsecurity,drivewithatow
bar.Youshould useatowingcableonlyifatow
barisnotavailable.Useatowingcablemadeof
synthetic
elasticcablesimilarelasticmaterial.
