Alarmsystem
Generalinformation
When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarm
system reacts to the following changes:
'yUnauthorized opening of a door, the hood
or the tailgate.'yMovements in the car's interior.'yChanges in the vehicle tilt, e. g., during atj tempts at stealing a wheel or when towing
the vehicle.'yDisconnected battery voltage.
The alarm system signals these changes visuj
ally and acoustically:
'yAcoustic alarm.
Depending on local regulations, the acousj
tic alarm may be suppressed.'yBy switching on the hazard warning sysj tem.'yBy flashing the daytime running lights.
Switchingon/off
When you lock and unlock the vehicle with the
remote control or with Comfort Access, the alarm system is switched on/off at the sametime.
Openingthedoorswiththealarm

The alarm system is triggered when a door is opened if the door was unlocked using theintegrated key in the door lock.

Openingthetailgatewiththealarm

The tailgate can be opened even when the
alarm system is switched on.
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and
monitored again provided the doors are locked. The hazard warning system flashesonce.
Panicmode
You can trigger the alarm system if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.'yPress button on the remote conj
trol and hold for at least 3 secj
onds.'yBriefly press the button on the remote conj
trol three times in succession.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.

Interior motion sensor and tilt alarm sensor
are not active, as doors, hood, or tailgate are not correctly closed. Correctly closedaccess points are secured.
When the still open access points are
closed, interior motion sensor and tilt alarm
sensor will be switched on.'yThe indicator light goes out after unlockj
ing:
The vehicle has not been tampered with.'yThe indicator light flashes after unlocking until the engine ignition is switched on, butno longer than approx. 5 minutes:
An alarm has been triggered.
Tiltalarmsensor The tilt of the vehicle is monitored.
The alarm system responds in situations such
as attempts to steal a wheel or when the vehij
cle is towed.
Interiormotionsensor
The interior is monitored to the height of the
seats. The alarm system is switched on toj gether with the interior motion sensor even
when the convertible top is open. Falling obj
jects such as leaves can trigger the alarm uninj
tentionally.
Avoidingunintentionalalarms
Generalinformation
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor can trigger an alarm, although no unauthorj ized action occurred.
Possible situations for an unwanted alarm:
'yIn automatic vehicle washes.'yIn duplex garages.'yDuring transport on trains carrying vehij
cles, at sea or on a trailer.'yWith animals in the vehicle.The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion sensor can be switched off in such situations.
Switchingoffthetiltalarmsensorand

Press the remote control button againwithin 10 seconds as soon as the vehicle
is locked.
The indicator lamp lights up for approx. 2 secj
onds and then continues to flash.
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor are turned off until the vehicle is locked
again.

If you are carrying the remote control on

If closing force exceeds a specific threshold as
a window closes, closing is interrupted.
The window opens slightly.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Accessories on the windows such as anj
tennas can impact jam protection. There is a risk of injury. Do not install accessories in the
area of movement of the windows.'

The window closes with limited jam proj
tection . If the closing force exceeds a spej
cific threshold, closing is interrupted.2. Pull the switch past the resistance
point again within approx. 4 seconds and
hold it there.

Convertibletop
Generalinformation The convertible top can be opened or closed
at speeds up to approx. 30 mph/50 km/h.
If the vehicle is accelerated above a speed of approx. 30 mph/50 km/h while the convertibletop is being moved, the convertible top movejment stops.
Observe the following information:
'yThe tailgate can normally not be opened if the convertible top is not fully opened orclosed. If the tailgate can be opened, make
sure it does not collide with the convertible
top well storage cover.'yClose the convertible top when the vehicle
is parked. A closed convertible top proj tects it from weather-related damage andto some extent from theft.'yEven when the convertible top is closed,
only store valuables in the locked cargo area.'yAt higher speeds, vacuum produced in thecar's interior causes the convertible top to
begin to flutter. Increase the air flow via the
ventilation so that no vacuum is produced in the vehicle.'yIt is not possible to start the engine and
operate the convertible top simultanej
ously. When the engine is started using the Start/Stop button or using the Auto Start/Stop function, the convertible top movej
ment is briefly interrupted.'yOpening a door interrupts closure of the convertible top.'yWhen loading the cargo area, make surethat the cargo does not push against thecargo area partition, refer to page 67,
from below.'yIn order to protect the battery, move the convertible top only when the engine is
running.'yBefore closing the convertible top, remove any foreign objects from the windshield
frame; otherwise, closing may be prej vented.
Safetyinformation
NOTE
Incorrect operation can damage the
convertible top and other parts of the vehicle.
There is a risk of property damage. During opj
eration, heed the following points:
'yKeep the area of movement of the
convertible top clear because the
convertible top swivels out upward. Maxij mum area of movement: 98.5 inj
ches/2.5 meters.'yFully close the tailgate.'yDo not leave the convertible top open for
more than a day while it is wet.'yDo not open the convertible top, if it is wet,
covered in snow, iced up, or dirty.'yDo not place objects on the convertible top.'yThe rollover protection system may not betriggered.'yDo not operate convertible top on uneven
sections of road.'yAlways open or close the convertible top completely. The convertible top is only
locked in the final positions.'

WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when openj
ing and closing the convertible top. There is a risk of injury. When opening and closing theconvertible top, observe the movement and
keep the area of movement clear.'

the switch is released. The sequence can be continued in the desired direction using the
switch.
If there is a longer interruption with the ignition
switched on, convertible top and convertible
top well storage cover remain approx. 10 mij nutes in the current position before they slowly
go down. If the ignition is switched off,
convertible top and convertible top well storj age cover lower already after a short waiting
period.
The convertible top and the convertible top
well storage cover are not locked in this case. Operate switch again until the convertible opj
eration is terminated.
Operatingfromtheoutside With Comfort Access:
The convertible top can also be operated from
outside via Comfort Access.'yConvenient opening with remote operaj
tion, refer to page 51.'yConvenient closing with the remote conj
trol, refer to page 52.
Cargoareapartition
Fold down cargo area partition in the back so
that the convertible top can be opened.
Fold down cargo area partition in the front in
order to enlarge the cargo area capacity when the convertible top is closed.
Manuallycloseconvertibletop
Generalinformation
If there is a malfunction, the convertible top
can be manually closed. Two persons are necj
essary to do this.
If possible, have a convertible top manually closed by a dealerss service center or anotherqualified service center or repair shop.
Safetyinformation WARNING
In case of an electrical malfunction, the
convertible top cannot be locked in the fully
open position. The convertible top will rise up
while the vehicle is moving. There is a risk of
an accident. Do not open the closed
convertible top manually.'

4.Remove the two large lids from the trim. Ifneeded, use the screwdriver from the onj
board vehicle tool kit.5.Unlock convertible top well storage cover. To do this, pull on the right lid until the
convertible top well storage cover opens
on the right side.
Proceed accordingly on the left side.6.When the convertible top is closed manj
ually, the tailgate can no longer be opened.
Remove urgently needed items from the cargo area and close the tailgate.
You need the screwdriver and Allen
wrench from the onboard vehicle tool kit.
Liftingoutconvertibletop
1.Grasp the sheet metal of the convertible
top well storage cover from the outside usj ing both hands, and swing it slightly upj
ward.2.Before further opening the convertible top well storage cover, secure the hook, arrow.
Insert the screwdriver from the outside intothe hook and hold it in place during further
opening.3.Open the convertible top well storage
cover completely.4.Make sure that the hinge, arrow, is slightly
bent forward.5.Lift the convertible top out on the front on
both sides, and swing it forward. Keep the
convertible top well storage cover open, for
instance with your shoulder.6.Place the rear convertible top frame vertij cally, arrow 1, close the convertible top

place the rear convertible top frame ontothe convertible top well storage cover.
Lockconvertiblecover
1.Carefully remove the cover in the center ofthe front convertible top frame. If needed,
use the screwdriver.2.While one person presses the center of
front convertible top frame onto the windj shield frame: turn the Allen wrench counjterclockwise up to the stop. The front
convertible top frame must be locked in
the windshield frame.
The rear convertible top frame is automatij
cally pressed onto the convertible top well
storage cover.3.Have the convertible top checked by a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Winddeflector
Theconcept The wind deflector reduces the air movementin the vehicle interior when driving with theconvertible top down.
Safetyinformation NOTE
When moving the front seats back, the
wind deflector can be damaged. There is a risk of property damage. Make sure that the area ofmovement is clear prior to moving the frontseats back.'

Fold open the wind deflector.2.Insert wind deflector from one side of thevehicle with the pins in the corresponding
fixing points on the opposite side of the vej hicle.3.Lift the wind deflector in the center, arj
row 1, until the pins on the installation side can be positioned in front of the fixing
points, arrows 2.4.Press the wind deflector downward, arj rows 1, while inserting the pins in the corjresponding fixing points.Grasp the inner framework of the wind dej
flector on the recessed grip and fold it up,
arrow 2.
Removing
Proceed in reverse sequence.
