WARNING
Due to system limits, individual functions
can malfunction during tow-starting/towing with the Intelligent Safety systems activated, for instance approach control warning with
braking function. There is a risk of an accident.
Switch all Intelligent Safety systems off prior to
tow-starting/towing.'

Detectionrange
Objects that the system can detect are takeninto account.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Indicators and warnings do not relieve
the driver from personal responsibility. Due to
system limits, warnings or reactions of the sysj
tem may not be output or they may be output
too late or incorrectly. There is a risk of an acj
cident. Adjust the driving style to the traffic
conditions. Watch traffic closely and actively intervene in the respective situations.'

Warningwithbrakingfunction
Display
If a collision with a vehicle detected in this way
is imminent, a warning symbol appears on the
instrument cluster.
SymbolMeasureSymbol lights up red: prewarning.
Brake and increase distance.Symbol flashes red and an acoustic signal sounds: acute warning.
You are requested to intervene by
braking or make an evasive maneuj
ver.
Prewarning
This warning is issued, e.g., when there is the impending danger of a collision or the distanceto the vehicle ahead is too small.
The driver must intervene actively when there
is a prewarning.
Acutewarningwithbrakingfunction
Acute warning is displayed in case of the immij nent danger of a collision when the vehicle apj
proaches another object at a high differential
speed.
The driver must intervene actively when there
is an acute warning. If necessary, the driver is
assisted by a minor automatic braking interj
vention in a possible risk of collision.
Acute warnings can also be triggered without
previous forewarning.
Brakingintervention
The warning prompts the driver himself/herself
to react. During a warning, the maximum brakj
ing force is used. Prerequisite for the brake
booster is sufficiently quick and hard stepping on the brake pedal. The system can assist with
some braking intervention if there is a risk of a collision. At low speeds vehicles may thus
come to a complete stop.
Manual transmission: during a braking interj
vention up to a complete stop, the engine may
be shut down.
The braking intervention is executed only if vej
hicle stability has not been restricted, for inj
stance by deactivating the DSC Dynamic Staj
bility Control.
The braking intervention can be interrupted by
stepping on the accelerator pedal or by acj
tively moving the steering wheel.
Object detection can be restricted. Observe
the limitations of the detection range and funcj tional restrictions.
Systemlimits
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system can react incorrectly or not
at all due to the system limits. There is a risk of
accidents or risk of property damage. Observe the information regarding the system limits
and actively intervene, if needed.'

E.g., the following situations may not be dej
tected:'ySlow moving vehicles when you approach them at high speed.'yVehicles that suddenly swerve in front of
you, or sharply decelerating vehicles.'yVehicles with an unusual rear appearance.'yTwo-wheeled vehicles ahead of you.
Functionallimitations
The system may not be fully functional in the
following situations:
'yIn heavy fog, rain, sprayed water or snowj
fall.'yIn tight curves.'yIf the driving stability control systems are limited or deactivated, for instance DSC
OFF.'yIf the field of view of the camera in the mirj
ror is dirty or obscured.'yUp to 10 seconds after the start of the enj gine via the Start/Stop button.'yDuring calibration of the camera immedijately after vehicle delivery.'yIf there are constant blinding effects bej
cause of oncoming light, for instance from
the sun low in the sky.
Warningsensitivity
The more sensitive the warning settings are,
such as the warning time, the more warnings
are displayed. However, there may also be an excess of false warnings.
Pedestrianwarningwith
Approachcontrol
Concept
The system can help prevent accidents with
pedestrians.
When driving at city speeds, the system will isj sue a warning if there is imminent danger of a
collision with pedestrians and includes a brakj ing function.
The camera in the area of the rearview mirror
controls the system.
Generalinformation
With sufficient brightness, the system warns
about possible collision danger with pedesj trians starting at approx. 6 mph/10 km/h to apj
prox. 35 mph/60 km/h and assists with braking before a collision.
The system reacts to people who are within the detection range of the system.
Detectionrange
The detection area in front of the vehicle is divjided into two areas:
'yCentral area, arrow 1, directly in front of thevehicle.'yExpanded area, arrow 2, to the right and
left of the central area.
A collision is imminent if pedestrians are loj
cated within the central area. A warning is isj
sued about pedestrians who are located within the extended area only if they are moving inthe direction of the central area.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Indicators and warnings do not relieve
the driver from personal responsibility. Due to
system limits, warnings or reactions of the sysj

issued.Issuedwarning
If you leave the lane and if a lane marking has
been detected, the steering wheel begins vij

If the turn signal is set before changing the
lane, a warning is not issued.
Endofwarning
The warning is canceled in the following situaj tions:'yAutomatically after approx. 3 seconds.'yWhen returning to your own lane.'yWhen braking hard.'yWhen using the turn signal.

mirror is fogged over, dirty or covered with stickers, etc.'yDuring calibration of the camera immedijately after vehicle delivery.
Brakeforcedisplay
Concept
Additional brake lamps indicate emergency
braking to the traffic behind. This can reduce
the risk of a rear-end collision.
Generalinformation
'yDuring normal brake application, the botjtom brake lights light up.'yDuring heavy brake application, the topbrake lights additionally light up.
Attentivenessassistant
Concept
The system can detect decreasing alertness or
fatigue of the driver during long, monotonous
trips, e.g., on highways. In this situation, it is
recommended that the driver takes a break.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not release from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess one's physical state. An increasing lack of
alertness or fatigue may not be detected or notbe detected in time. There is a risk of an accijdent. Make sure that the driver is rested and
alert. Adjust the driving style to the traffic conj
ditions.'

changing lanes frequently.'yWhen the road surface is poor.'yIn the event of strong side winds.
The system is reset approx. 45 minutes after
parking the vehicle, e.g., in the case of a break during longer trips on highways.
