Winter
tires
Do not drive with a tire tread of less than
0.16 in/4 mm, as such tires are less suitable for
winter operation.
Minimum
tread
depth
Wear indicators are distributed around thetire's circumference and have the legally rejquired minimum height of 0.063 inj
ches/1.6 mm.
The positions of the wear indicators are marked on the tire sidewall with TWI, Tread
Wear Indicator.
Tire
damage
General
information
Inspect your tires regularly for damage, foreign
objects lodged in the tread, and tread wear.
Driving over rough or damaged road surfaces,
as well as debris, curbs and other obstacles can cause serious damage to wheels, tires and
suspension parts. This is more likely to occur
with low-profile tires, which provide less cushj
ioning between the wheel and the road. Be
careful to avoid road hazards and reduce your
speed, especially if your vehicle is equipped
with low-profile tires.
Indications of tire damage or other vehicle malj functions:
'yUnusual vibrations.'yUnusual tire or running noises.'yUnusual handling such as a strong tenjdency to pull to the left or right.
Damage can be caused by the following situajtions, for instance:
'yDriving over curbs.'yRoad damage.'yTire inflation pressure too low.'yVehicle overloading.'yIncorrect tire storage.

WARNING
Damaged tires can lose tire inflation
pressure, which can lead to loss of vehicle control. There is a risk of an accident. If tiredamage is suspected while driving, immedijately reduce speed and stop. Have wheels andtires checked. For this purpose, drive carefully
to the nearest dealerss service center or anj
other qualified service center or repair shop.
Have vehicle towed or transported as needed.
Do not repair damaged tires, but have them rej
placed.'

Wheel
and
tire
combination
General
information
You can ask the dealerss service center or anj other qualified service center or repair shop
about the correct wheel/tire combination and
wheel rim versions for the vehicle.
Safety
information WARNING
Wheels and tires which are not suitable
for your vehicle can damage parts of the vehij cle, for instance due to contact with the body
due to tolerances despite the same official size rating. There is a risk of an accident. The manjufacturer of your vehicle strongly suggests
that you use wheels and tires that have been
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for
your vehicle type.'

Maximum
speed
of
winter
tiresIf the maximum speed of the vehicle is higher
than the permissible speed for the winter tires, then attach a label showing the permissiblemaximum speed in the field of view. The label
is available from a dealerss service center or
another qualified service center or repair shop.
With winter tires mounted, observe and do not exceed the permissible maximum speed.
Run-flat
tires If you are already using run-flat tires, for yourown safety you should replace them only with the same kind. No spare tire is available in the
case of a flat tire. Further information is availaj
ble from a dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Rotating
wheels
between
axles Different wear patterns can occur on the frontand rear axles depending on individual driving
conditions. The tires can be rotated in pairs between the axles to achieve even wear. Furjther information is available from a dealerssservice center or another qualified service cenj
ter or repair shop. After rotating, check the tire
pressure and correct, if needed.
Rotating the tires between the axes is not perj
missible on vehicles with different tire sizes or rim sizes on the front and rear axles.
Storing
tires
Air
pressure
Do not exceed the maximum tire inflation presj
sure indicated on the side wall of the tire.
StorageStore wheels and tires in a cool, dry and dark
place.
Always protect tires against all contact with oil,
grease, and solvents.
Do not leave tires in plastic bags.
Remove dirt from wheels or tires.Run-flat
tires
Concept
Run-flat tires permit continued driving under
restricted conditions even in the event of a complete loss of tire inflation pressure.
General
information
The wheels consist of tires that are self-supj porting, to a limited degree, and possibly spej
cial rims.
The support of the sidewall allows the tire to
remain drivable to a restricted degree in the
event of a tire inflation pressure loss.
Follow the instructions for continued driving
with a flat tire.
Safety
information WARNING
Your vehicle handles differently with a
run-flat with no or low inflation pressure; for inj stance, your lane stability when braking is rejduced, braking distances are longer and the
self-steering properties will change. There is a
risk of an accident.
Drive moderately and do not exceed a speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.'

Repairing
a
flat
tire

from passing traffic and on solid ground.'ySwitch on the hazard warning system.'ySecure the vehicle against rolling away by setting the parking brake.'yTurn the steering wheel until the frontwheels are in the straight-ahead position

Mobility
System
Concept
With the Mobility System, minor tire damage can be sealed temporarily to enable continued
travel. To accomplish this, sealant is pumped
into the tires, which seals the damage from the inside.
General
information
'yFollow the instructions on using the Mobij lity System found on the compressor and
sealant container.'yUse of the Mobility System may be ineffecj
tive if the tire puncture measures approx.
1/8 inches/4 mm or more.'yContact a dealerss service center or anj other qualified service center or repair
shop if the tire cannot be made drivable.'yIf possible, do not remove foreign bodies that have penetrated the tire. Only remove
foreign objects if they are visibly protruding from the tire.'yPull the speed limit sticker off the sealant
container and apply it to the steering
wheel.'yThe use of a sealant can damage the TPM wheel electronics. In this case, have theTPM wheel electronics replaced at thenext opportunity.'yThe compressor can be used to check the
tire inflation pressure.
Storage
The Mobility System is located under thecargo floor panel.

Filling
the
tire
with
sealant
Safety
information DANGER
If the exhaust pipe is blocked or ventilaj
tion is insufficient, harmful exhaust gases can
enter into the vehicle. The exhaust gases conj tain pollutants which are colorless and odorj
less. In enclosed areas, exhaust gases can also
accumulate outside of the vehicle. There is
danger to life. Keep the exhaust pipe free and
ensure sufficient ventilation.'

4.Slide the sealing container upright into the
holder on the compressor housing, ensurj ing that it engages audibly.5.Remove the valve cap from the tire valveand screw the connection hose onto thetire valve of the nonworking wheel.6.With the compressor switched off, insert
the plug into a power socket inside the vej
hicle.7.With the ignition switched on or the engine running, switch on the compressor.
Let the compressor run for max. 10 minutes tofill the tire with sealant and achieve a tire inflaj
tion pressure of approx. 2.5 bar.
While the tire is being filled with sealant, the
tire inflation pressure may sporadically reach
approx. 5 bar. Do not switch off the compresj
sor at this point.
If a tire inflation pressure of 2 bar is not
reached:
1.Switch off the compressor.2.Pull the connector out of the power socket inside the vehicle.3.Unscrew the filling hose from the tire valve.4.Drive 33 ft/10 m forward and back to disjtribute the sealant in the tire.5.Inflate the tire again using the compressor.
If a tire inflation pressure of 2 bar cannot be
reached, contact your dealerss service cenj
ter or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Stowing
the
Mobility
System
1.Remove the connection hose of the sealj
ant container from the tire valve.2.Pull the compressor connector out of the socket inside the vehicle.3.Remove the connection hose from thesealant container.Seite 246MobilityWheels

4.Wrap and store the sealant container and
the connection hose in suitable material to
avoid dirtying the cargo area.5.Stow the Mobility System back in the cargo area.
Distributing
the
sealant
Immediately drive approx. 5 miles/10 km to enjsure that the sealant is evenly distributed in thetire.
Do not exceed the permissible maximum
speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.
If possible, do not drive at speeds less than
12 mph/20 km/h.
Correcting
the
tire
inflation
pressure
1.Stop at a suitable location.2.Screw the connection hose onto the tire valve stem.3.Attach the connection hose directly to the
compressor.4.Insert the connector into the power socket
inside the vehicle.5.Correct the tire inflation pressure to
2.5 bar.'yIncrease tire inflation pressure: with the
ignition switched on or the engine runj
ning, switch on the compressor.'yReduce tire inflation pressure: press
the button on the compressor.
Continuing
the
trip
Do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.
Reinitialize the run-flat tires.
Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor TPM.
Replace the nonworking tire and the sealant
container of the Mobility System at the next
opportunity.
Snow
chains Safety
information WARNING
With the mounting of snow chains on unj
suitable tires, the snow chains can come into
contact with vehicle parts. There is a risk of acj
cidents or risk of damage to property. Only
mount snow chains on tires that are desigj
nated by their manufacturer as suitable for the
use of snow chains.'

WARNING
Insufficiently tight snow chains may
damage tires and vehicle components. There
is a risk of accidents or risk of damage to propj
erty. Make sure that the snow chains are alj ways sufficiently tight. Re-tighten as needed
according to the snow chain manufacturer's inj
structions.'

WARNING
On soft, uneven or slippery ground, for
example snow, ice, tiles, etc., the vehicle jack can slip away. There is a risk of injury. If possij
ble, change the wheel on a flat, solid, and slip-
resistant surface.'

Unscrewing
1.Attach the adapter to the lug bolt.2.Unscrew the lug bolt.3.Remove the adapter after unscrewing thelug bolt.
Screwing
on
1.Attach the adapter to the lug bolt. If necesj
sary, turn the adapter until it fits on the lug bolt.2.Screw on the lug bolt. The tightening torj
que is 140 Nm.3.Remove the adapter and stow it after screwing on the lug bolt.
Preparing
the
vehicle
'yPark the vehicle on solid and non-slipground at a safe distance from traffic.'ySwitch on the hazard warning system.'ySet the parking brake.'yEngage a gear or move the selector leverto position P.'yAs soon as permitted by the traffic flow,have all vehicle occupants get out of the
