The warning triangle is located on the inside ofthe tailgate.
To remove, loosen the bracket.
First-aidkit Generalinformation Some of the articles have a limited service life.
Check the expiration dates of the contents regularly and replace any expired items
promptly.
Storage
The first-aid kit is located in the cargo area in a storage compartment.
Jump-starting
Generalinformation
If the battery is discharged, the engine can be
started using the battery of another vehicle
and two jumper cables. Only use jumper caj
bles with fully insulated clamp handles.
Safetyinformation DANGER
Contact with live components can lead to
an electric shock. There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Do not touch any componentsthat are under voltage.'

Preparation1.Check whether the battery of the other vejhicle has a voltage of 12 volts. The voltage
information can be found on the battery.2.Switch off the engine of the assisting vehij cle.3.Switch off any electronic systems/powerconsumers in both vehicles.
Startingaidterminals
The starting aid terminal in the engine comj
partment acts as the battery's positive termij
nal.
Open the cover of the starting aid terminal.
The body ground or a special nut acts as the battery negative terminal.
Connectingthecables
To prevent personal injury or damage to bothvehicles, adhere strictly to the following procejdure.1.Open the cover of the BMW starting aidterminal.2.Attach one terminal clamp of the positive
jumper cable to the positive terminal of the battery, or to the corresponding starting
aid terminal of the vehicle providing assisj
tance.3.Attach the terminal clamp on the other end of the cable to the positive terminal of the
battery, or to the corresponding starting
aid terminal of the vehicle to be started.4.Attach one terminal clamp of the negative jumper cable to the negative terminal ofthe battery, or to the corresponding engine
or body ground of assisting vehicle.5.Attach the second terminal clamp to the
negative terminal of the battery, or to the corresponding engine or body ground of
the vehicle to be started.
Startingtheengine
Never use spray fluids to start the engine.
1.Start the engine of the assisting vehicle
and let it run for several minutes at an inj creased idle speed.
If the vehicle to be started has a diesel enj gine: let the engine of the assisting vehiclerun for approx. 10 minutes.2.Start the engine of the vehicle that is to bestarted in the usual way.
If the first starting attempt is not successj
ful, wait a few minutes before making anj
other attempt in order to allow the disj
charged battery to recharge.3.Let both engines run for several minutes.4.Disconnect the jumper cables in the rej verse order.
Check the battery and recharge, if needed.

Towrope
When starting to tow the vehicle, make surethat the tow rope is taut.
Use nylon ropes or straps, which will enable
the vehicle to be towed without jerking.
Towfitting
Generalinformation
The screw-in tow fitting should always be carj
ried in the vehicle.
The tow fitting can be screwed in at the front
or rear of the vehicle.
The tow fitting and the onboard vehicle tool kit, refer to page 263, are together in the cargo
area.
Use of the tow fitting:
'yUse only the tow fitting provided with the
vehicle and screw it all the way in.'yUse the tow fitting for towing on paved
roads only.'yAvoid lateral loading of the tow fitting, for instance do not lift the vehicle by the towfitting.
Safetyinformation
NOTE
If the tow fitting is not used as intended,
there may be damage to the vehicle or to the
tow fitting. There is a risk of damage to propj
erty. Follow the notes on using the tow fitj

Headlights
Do not rub wet headlights dry and do not use abrasive or acidic cleaning agents.
Soak areas that have been dirtied, for instance
from insects, with shampoo and wash off with water.
Thaw ice with de-icing spray; do not use an ice
scraper.
Afterwashingthevehicle After washing the vehicle, apply the brakes
briefly to dry them; otherwise, braking action can be reduced. The heat generated duringbraking dries brake discs and brake pads andprotects them against corrosion.
Completely remove all residues on the winj
dows, to minimize loss of visibility due to
smearing and to reduce wiper noises and wiper blade wear.

BMW recommends using vehicle care and
cleaning products from BMW. Suitable care products are available from a dealerss service
center or another qualified service center or rej pair shop.Safetyinformation

grease will gradually break down the protective layer of the leather surface.
Upholsterymaterialcare
Generalinformation Vacuum the upholstery regularly with a vacj
uum cleaner.
If upholstery is very dirty, for instance with bevj erage stains, use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth with a suitable interior cleaner.
Clean the upholstery down to the seams usinglarge sweeping motions. Avoid rubbing thematerial vigorously.
