the
series. It
also
describes
features

functions
that
are
not
necessarily
available

your
vehicle,

due to
the
selected
options
or
country

and

using
these
functions
and
systems,
the
applicable
laws
and
regulations
must
be

General
information
Depending
on
the
situation,
the
vehicle
is
in
one
of
the
three
states:
'xIdle
state.'xStandby
state.'xDrive-ready
state.
Idle
state
Concept
When
the
vehicle
is
in
idle
state,
it
is
switched
off.
All
power
consumers
are
deactivated.
General
information The
vehicle
is
in
idle
state
prior
to
opening
from
the
outside
and
after
exiting
and
locking.
Safety
information
Warning
An
unsecured
vehicle
can
begin
to
move
and
possibly
roll
away.
There
is
a
risk
of
accident.
Before
exiting,
secure
the
vehicle
against
roll#j
ing.
In
order
to
ensure
that
the
vehicle
is
secured against
rolling
away,
follow
the
following:
'xSet
the
parking
brake.'xOn
uphill
grades
or
on
a
downhill
slope,
turn
the
front
wheels
in
the
direction
of
the
curb.'xOn
uphill
grades
or
on
a
downhill
slope,
also
secure
the
vehicle,
for
instance
with
a
wheel
chock.
Warning
Unattended
children
or
animals
in
the
vehicle
can
cause
the
vehicle
to
move
and
endanger themselves

traffic,

the

state
For

idle
state

operation

Standby
state
Concept
When
standby
state
is
switched
on,
most
func#j
tions
can
be
used
while
the
vehicle
is
stationary. Desired
settings
can
be
adjusted.
General
information The
vehicle
is
in
the
standby
state
after
the
front
doors
are
opened
from
the
outside.
Display
in
the
instrument
cluster OFF
is
displayed
in
the
instru#j
ment
cluster.
The
drivetrain
is
switched
off
and
standby
state switched
on.
Drive-ready
state
Concept
Switching
on
drive-ready
state
corresponds
to
starting
the
engine.
General
information Some
functions,
such
as
DSC
Dynamic
Stability
Control,
can
only
be
used
with
drive-ready
state
switched
on.
Safety
information
DANGER
If
the
exhaust
pipe
is
blocked
or
ventilation
is
in#j
sufficient,
harmful
exhaust
gases
can
enter
into the
vehicle.
The
exhaust
gases
contain
pollu#jtants
which
are
colorless
and
odorless.
In
en#j
closed
areas,
exhaust
gases
can
also
accumu#j
late
outside
of
the
vehicle.
There
is
danger
to
life.
Keep
the
exhaust
pipe
free
and
ensure
suf#j
ficient
ventilation.

An

fuel,

cause
the
catalytic
converter
to
overheat.
There
is
a
risk
of
damage
to
property,
among
other
potential
damage.
Avoid
repeated
starting
of
the
vehicle,
particularly
repeated starting
in
rapid
succession.
Switching
on
drive-ready
state
Concept Drive-ready
state
is
switched
on
via
the
Start/Stop
button.
Steptronic
transmission
1.Depress
the
brake
pedal.2.Press
the
Start/Stop
button.
The
ignition
is
activated
automatically
for
a
brief
time
and
is
stopped
as
soon
as
the
engine
starts.
Most
of
the
indicator/warning
lights
in
the
instru#j
ment
cluster
light
up
for
a
varied
length
of
time.
Gasoline
engine
Depending
on
the
motorization,
the
full
drive
power
may
not
be
available
for
approximately
30
seconds
after
starting
the
engine.
In
this
case,
the
vehicle
will
not
accelerate
as
usual.
Display
in
the
instrument
cluster The
lettering
READY
in
the

the
instrument
cluster
indicates
that the
drive-ready
state
is
switched
on.

number

functions.
These
functions

operated

the

gesture
control.

systems and
communication

while
driving

distract

or
connection
with
external
devices.
Communication

and

functions,
e-mail
and
calendar,
and
also
the
connection
and

of
mobile
devices,
such
as
smartphones.
Navigation


Access
to
the
navigation
system,
destination
input
and
traffic
bulletins.
Configurable
map
views
and
other
functions,
such
as
points
of

terest
and
areas
to
be
avoided.
