Detectionofobjects
Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding objects such as ledges may not be detected by
the system.
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, some
assistance functions also consider data from
PDC Park Distance Control.
Follow the notes in the PDC Park Distance
Control chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display may be closer than they appear. Do not estij
mate the distance from the objects on the disj
play.
SideView Concept
Side View provides an early look at cross traffic at blind driveways and intersections. Road
users concealed by obstacles to the left and right of the vehicle can only be detected relaj
tively late from the driver's seat. To improve
visibility, two cameras in the front of the vehij

the Control Display for this purpose.
Generalinformation The image is captured by two camerasintegrated in the exterior mirrors and by the
rearview camera.
The range is at least 7 ft/2 m to the side and
rear.
In this way, obstacles up to the height of the
exterior mirrors are detected early.
Safetyinformation WARNING

Parkingassistant Concept
The system supports parking in the following
situations:
'yWhen parking parallel to the road.'yWhen reverse parking diagonally to the
road.
Generalinformation
Parking assistant handling is divided into three
steps:
'ySwitching on and activating.'yParking space search.'yParking.Ultrasound sensors measure parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle.
The parking assistant calculates the best posj
sible parking line and takes control of steering
during the parking procedure.
System status and instructions on required acj tions are displayed on the Control Display.
The parking assistant uses the sensors of PDC
Park Distance Control.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from perj
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situaj tion. Based on the limits of the system, it canjnot independently react to all traffic situations.
There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closelyand actively intervene where appropriate.'

Ultrasoundsensors
The four ultrasound sensors for measuring
parking spaces are located in the front and rear on the side of the vehicle.
Functionalrequirements
Ultrasoundsensors Ensure full functionality:

General information:
'yGap behind an object that has a min. length
of 1.7 ft/0.5 m.'yGap between two objects with a minimum length of approx. 1.7 ft/0.5 m.
Parallel parking to the road:
'yMin. length of gap between two objects:your vehicle's length plus approx.

Diagonal parking:
'yMinimum width of the gap: own vehicle's width plus approx. 2.6 ft/0.8 m.'yMinimum depth: your vehicle's length.
The depth of diagonal parking spaces must be estimated by the driver. Due to technij
cal limitations, the system is only able to approximate the depth of diagonal parking
spaces.
Forparking

ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations
must be observed.Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved
by an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a climate-control system for regulatingtemperature, air flow, and recirculated-airmode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, automaticclimate control with automatic recirculated-air
control AUC, and parked-car ventilation.
