Settingthespeed
Maintaining/storingthespeed
Press the rocker switch while the system is inj terrupted.
When the system is switched on, the current
speed is maintained and stored as the desired
speed.
The stored speed is displayed in the speedomj
eter and briefly in the instrument cluster, refer
to page 142.
DSC will be switched on, if needed.
The speed can also be stored by pressing a button.
Press button.
Changingthespeed
Press the rocker switch up or down repeatedly
until the desired speed is set.
If active, the displayed speed is stored and the vehicle reaches the stored speed when the
road is clear.
'yEach time the rocker switch is pressed to
the point of resistance, the desired speed increases or decreases by approx.
1 mph/1 km/h.'yEach time the rocker switch is pressed
past the point of resistance, the desired
speed increases or decreases by a maxij
mum of 5 mph/10 km/h.
The maximum speed that can be set dej
pends on the vehicle.'yPressing the rocker switch to the resistj
ance point and holding it accelerates or dej
celerates the vehicle without requiring
pressure on the accelerator pedal.
After the rocker switch is released, the vej
hicle maintains its final speed. Pressing the
switch beyond the resistance point causes
the vehicle to accelerate more rapidly.
Continuingcruisecontrol
Generalinformation
An interrupted cruise control can be continued
by calling up the stored speed.
Make sure that the difference between current speed and stored speed is not too large before
calling up the stored speed. Otherwise, uninj
tentional braking or accelerating may occur.

PDCParkDistanceControl Concept
PDC is a support when parking. When you
slowly approach an object in the rear - or also
in the front of the vehicle if the feature is availaj
ble - then the object is reported through:'ySignal tones.'yVisual display.
With appropriate equipment: obstacles on the side of the vehicle that are detected by the
sensors of the parking assistant can also be rej
ported by the PDC. See side protection, refer to page 144.
Generalinformation
The ultrasound sensors for measuring the disj
tances are located in the bumpers.
The maneuvering range, depending on the obj
stacle and environmental conditions, is approx.
6 ft/2 m.
An acoustic warning is first given in the followj
ing situations:
'yBy the front sensors and the two rear corj
ner sensors at approx. 24 in/60 cm from
the object.'yBy the rear middle sensors at a distance to
the object of approx. 5 ft/1.50 m.'yWhen a collision is imminent.'yWith parking assistant: by the side sensors at approx. 24 in/60 cm from the object.Seite 142ControlsDrivingcomfort142

SafetyinformationWARNING
The system does not release from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess the
traffic situation. Based on the limits of the sysj tem, it cannot independently react to all trafficsituations. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust
the driving style to the traffic conditions. Watch
traffic closely and actively intervene in the rej
spective situations.'

The rearview camera image is displayed if thereverse gear is engaged when pressing the
park assistance button.
WARNING
Signaltones When approaching an object, an intermittentsound indicates the position of the object. E.g.,
if an object is detected to the left rear of the
vehicle, a signal tone sounds from the left rear
speaker.
The shorter the distance to the object, the
shorter the intervals.
If the distance to a detected object is less than
approx. 10 inches/25 cm, a continuous tone is sounded.
With front PDC: if objects are simultaneously located both in front of and behind the vehicle, an alternating continuous signal is sounded.
The signal tone is switched off, when selector
lever position P is engaged on vehicles with Steptronic transmission.
Volume
The ratio of the PDC signal tone volume to the entertainment volume can be adjusted.
Using iDrive:1."Multimedia", "Radio" or "Settings"2."Tone"3."Volume settings"4."PDC"5.Turn the controller until the desired setting
is selected.6.Press the controller.
Settings are stored for the profile currently used.
Visualwarning
The approach of the vehicle to an object can
be shown on the Control Display. Objects that
are farther away are already displayed on the
Control Display before a signal sounds.
A display appears as soon as Park Distance
Control (PDC) is activated.
The range of the sensors is represented in the
colors green, yellow and red.
When the image of the rearview camera is disj played, the switch can be made to PDC:

LimitsofsideprotectionThe system only detects standing obstaclesthat entered the area of the sensors previouslywhen driving by.
The system detects if your vehicle is apj proaching the standing obstacle due to its own motion or steering angle.
The system does not detect whether an obstaj
cle moves. If the vehicle is stationary, the
markings are shown in gray after some time. The area next to the vehicle must be newlycaptured.

Safetyinformation WARNING
The system can react incorrectly or not
at all due to the system limits. There is a risk of
accidents or risk of property damage. Observe the information regarding the system limits
and actively intervene, if needed.'

parking, maneuvering, and at complex exits and intersections.'yRearview camera, refer to page 146'ySide View, refer to page 148.'yTop View, refer to page 150.
Rearviewcamera
Concept
The rearview camera provides assistance in parking and maneuvering backwards. The area
behind the vehicle is shown on the Control
Display.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess the
traffic situation. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust the driving style to the traffic condijtions. Watch traffic and vehicle surroundingsclosely and actively intervene in the respective
situations.'

Pathwaylines
Pathway lines can be superimposed on the imj
age of the rearview camera.
Pathway lines help you to estimate the space
required when parking and maneuvering on level roads.
Pathway lines depend on the current steering angle and are continuously adjusted to the
steering wheel movements.
Turningradiuslines
Turning radius lines can only be superimposed
on the rearview camera image together with pathway lines.
Turning radius lines show the course of the
smallest possible turning radius on a level road.
Only one turning radius line is displayed after
the steering wheel is turned past a certain anj
gle.

Systemlimits
Detectionofobjects
Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding objects such as ledges may not be detected by
the system.
Assistance functions also take into account
data of the PDC.
Follow instructions in the PDC chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display may be closer than they appear. Do not estij
mate the distance from the objects on the disj
play.
SideView Concept
Side View provides an early look at cross traffic at blind driveways and intersections. Road
users concealed by obstacles to the left and right of the vehicle can only be detected relaj
tively late from the driver's seat. To improve
visibility, two cameras in the front of the vehij
cle record the traffic situation on each side.
The images from both cameras are shown sij multaneously on the Control Display.

The cameras capture a maximum range of
330 ft/100 m.
TopView
Theconcept Top View provides assistance in parking and
maneuvering. The area around the doors and
the road area around the vehicle are shown on
the Control Display for this purpose.
Generalinformation
The image is captured by two cameras intej grated in the exterior mirrors and by the rearjview camera.
The range is at least 7 ft/2 m to the side and rear.
In this way, obstacles up to the height of the
exterior mirrors are detected early.
