The instrument display is a variable display.
When you change to a different program via Drivjing Dynamics Control, the displays in the instruj

Shiftpointindicator Concept
Depending on the vehicle equipment, shift point
indicators in the tachometer indicate the optij
mum shift point. Thus, with a sporty driving style,the best possible vehicle acceleration is achj ieved.
Generalinformation
Steptronic Sport transmission: shift lights are
shown, when the SPORT+ driving program is acj
tivated. The M manual mode of the transmission
must be activated too.
Manual transmission: shift lights are shown,
when the SPORT or SPORT+ driving program is

Display
'xCurrent engine speed is displayed in the
tachometer.'xArrow 1: successive yellow illuminated fields indicate an increase in the speed.'xArrow 2: successive orange illuminated fields
indicate the upcoming shift moment.'xArrow 3: fields are illuminated in red. Do not wait any further to shift.
When the maximum permissible speed is
reached, the entire display flashes and the supj
ply of fuel is interrupted in order to protect the
engine.
CheckControl
Concept
The Check Control system monitors functions in
the vehicle and notifies you of malfunctions in the monitored systems.
Generalinformation
A Check Control message is displayed as a comj
bination of indicator or warning lights and SMS
text messages in the instrument cluster and in
the Head-up Display.
In addition, an acoustic signal may sound and an
SMS text message may appear on the Control
Display.
Indicator/warninglights Generalinformation
The indicator/warning lights in the instrument
cluster can light up in a variety of combinations
and colors.
Several of the lights are checked for proper funcj tioning and light up temporarily when the engine
is started or the ignition is switched on.
Redlights
Safetybeltreminder Safety belt on the driver's side is not
buckled. For some country versions: pasj
senger belt is not worn or objects are dej
tected on the front passenger seat.
Indicator light flashes or is illuminated: safety belt
on the driver or passenger side is not buckled.
The safety belt reminder can also be activated if
objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
Make sure that the safety belts are positioned correctly.
Airbagsystem Airbag system and belt tensioner are notworking.
Have the vehicle checked immediately

been detected ahead of you.
Indicator light flashes: the conditions are
not adequate for the system to work.
The system was deactivated but applies the

Avoid abrupt braking. Take the longer
braking distance into account.

the drive and braking forces. The vehicle
is stabilized. Reduce speed and modify
your driving style to the driving circumstances.

Some Check Control messages are displayed continuously and are not cleared until the malj
function is eliminated. If several malfunctions ocj cur at once, the messages are displayed consecj

The messages can be hidden for approx. 8 secj onds. After this time, they are displayed again
automatically.
Temporarydisplay
Some Check Control messages are hidden autoj
matically after approx. 20 seconds. The Check Control messages are stored and can be disj
played again later.

Fuelgauge
An arrow beside the fuel pump
symbol shows which side of the vehicle the fuel filler flap is on.
Vehicle tilt position may cause the
display to vary.
Follow the information on refueling.
The yellow indicator light illuminates,
once the fuel reserve is reached.
Tachometer
Always avoid engine speeds in the red warning
field. In this range, the fuel supply is reduced to protect the engine.

'xCold engine: the pointer is at
the low temperature end.
Drive at moderate engine and
vehicle speeds.'xNormal operating temperaj
ture: the pointer is in the midj
dle or in the left half of the
temperature display.'xHot engine: the pointer is at the high end of

When the engine oil temperature is too
high, a red indicator light is displayed.

If the coolant along with the engine becomes too
hot, a Check Control message is displayed.
