Safety
informationWARNING
Damaged tires can lose tire inflation
pressure, which can lead to loss of vehicle control. There is a risk of an accident. If tiredamage is suspected while driving, immedijately reduce speed and stop. Have wheels andtires checked. For this purpose, drive carefully
to the nearest dealerss service center or anj
other qualified service center or repair shop.
Have vehicle towed or transported as
needed.'

Winter
tires
Winter tires are recommended for operating on
winter roads.
Although so-called all-season M+S tires proj
vide better winter traction than summer tires,
they do not provide the same level of performj
ance as winter tires.
Maximum
speed
of
winter
tires
If the maximum speed of the vehicle is higher
than the permissible speed for the winter tires, then attach a corresponding information label/
sticker in the field of view. The label is available from a dealerss service center or another qualij
fied service center or repair shop.
With mounted winter tires, observe and adhere
to the permissible maximum speed.
Run-flat
tires
If you are already using run-flat tires, for your
own safety you should replace them only with the same kind. No spare tire is available in the
case of a flat tire. Further information is availaj
ble from a dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Rotating
wheels
between
axles Different wear patterns can occur on the frontand rear axles depending on individual driving
conditions. The tires can be rotated between
the axles to achieve even wear. Further inforj mation is available from a dealerss service cenjter or another qualified service center or repair
shop. After rotating, check the tire pressure and correct, if needed.
Rotating the tires between the axes is not perj
missible on vehicles with different tire sizes or rim sizes on the front and rear axles.
Storage
Store wheels and tires in a cool, dry place with
as little exposure to light as possible.
Always protect tires against all contact with oil,
grease and fuels.Do not exceed the maximum tire inflation presj sure indicated on the side wall of the tire.
Run-flat
tires
Label
RSC label on the tire sidewall.
The wheels consist of tires that are self-supj porting, to a limited degree, and possibly spej
cial rims.
The support of the sidewall allows the tire to remain drivable to a restricted degree in the
event of a tire inflation pressure loss.
Follow the instructions for continued driving
with a flat tire.
Changing
run-flat
tires For your own safety, only use run-flat tires. No
spare tire is available in the case of a flat tire.
A dealerss service center will be glad to answeradditional questions at any time.

appropriate distance.
Mobility
System
Concept
With the Mobility System, minor tire damage can be sealed temporarily to enable continued
travel. To accomplish this, sealant is pumped
into the tires, which seals the damage from the inside.
The compressor can be used to check the tire inflation pressure.
General
information
'yFollow the instructions on using the Mobij lity System found on the compressor and
sealant container.'yUse of the Mobility System may be ineffecj
tive if the tire puncture measures approx.
1/8 inches/4 mm or more.'yContact a dealerss service center or anj other qualified service center or repair
shop if the tire cannot be made drivable.'yIf possible, do not remove foreign bodies that have penetrated the tire.'yPull the speed limit sticker off the sealant
container and apply it to the steering
wheel.'yThe use of a sealant can damage the TPM wheel electronics. In this case, have theelectronics checked at the next opportujnity and have them replaced, if needed.Storage

Filling
the
tire
with
sealant1.Shake the sealant container.2.Pull the connection hose fully out of thecompressor housing. Do not kink the hose.3.Screw the connection hose onto the conjnector of the sealant container.4.Insert the sealant container on the comjpressor housing in an upright position.5.Screw the filling hose of the sealant conjtainer onto the tire valve of the nonworking
wheel.6.With the compressor switched off, insert
the plug into the power socket inside the

7.With the ignition turned on or the engine
running, switch on the compressor.
DANGER
If the exhaust pipe is blocked or ventilaj
tion is insufficient, harmful exhaust gases can
enter into the vehicle. The exhaust gases conj tain carbon monoxide, an odorless and colorjless but highly toxic gas. In enclosed areas, exj
haust gases can also accumulate outside of
the vehicle. There is danger to life. Keep the
exhaust pipe free and ensure sufficient ventilaj tion.'

'yTo reduce the pressure: press the butjton on the compressor.
Continuing
the
trip
Do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.
Reinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor.
Reinitialize the Tire Pressure Monitor.
Replace the nonworking tire and the sealant
container of the Mobility System as soon as
possible.
Snow
chains
Fine-link
snow
chains
The manufacturer of your vehicle recommends use of fine-link snow chains. Certain types of
fine-link snow chains have been tested by the
manufacturer of the vehicle and recommended
as road-safe and suitable.
Information regarding suitable snow chains is
available from a dealerss service center or anj
other qualified service center or repair shop.
Use WARNING
With the mounting of snow chains on unj
suitable tires, the snow chains can come into contact with vehicle parts. There is a risk of acj
cidents or risk of property damage. Only mount
snow chains on tires that are designated by
their manufacturer as suitable for the use of
snow chains.'

After you drive a short distance, a CheckControl message is shown and the state is
activated automatically.
Confirm the automatic activation.'ySnow chains are not mounted. Settings are activated
.
At speeds above 30 mph/50 km/h, a Check
Control message is displayed. Deactivate
the status manually.
If not functioning properly:
'ySnow chains are mounted. Settings are not activated
.
A Check Control message is not displayed. The automatic detection system is maljfunctioning. Activate the status manually.
Activating/deactivating
rear
axle
steering
If the status indicating that snow chains are inuse is activated, the rear axle steering is deacj
tivated automatically.
At speeds above 30 mph/50 km/h, the rear axle
steering is activated again, even though snow
chains are in use.
Changing
wheels/tires General
information
When using run-flat tires or tire sealants, a tire
does not always need to be changed immedij ately in the event of pressure loss due to a flat
tire.
If needed, the tools for changing wheels are
available as accessories from a dealerss service
center or another qualified service center or rej pair shop.
Safety
information WARNING
On soft or slippery ground, e.g., snow,
ice, tiles, etc., the vehicle jack can slip away. There is a risk of injury. If possible, change the
tire/wheel on a flat, solid and slip-resistant surjface.'

On
a
level
surface
Place chocks or other suitable objects, for exjample a rock, in front of and behind the wheel
that is diagonally opposite to the wheel that you wish to change.
On
slight
down-hill
grades
If a wheel needs to be changed on a slight
down-hill grade, place wheel chocks or other
suitable objects, e.g. a stone, under the wheels of the front and rear axle.
Preparing
the
vehicle
'yChange the wheel as far away as possible
from passing traffic.'yPark the vehicle on solid, non-slip and level ground.'ySwitch on the hazard warning system.'ySet the parking brake.'yEngage a gear or selector lever position P.'yAs soon as permitted by the traffic flow,have all vehicle occupants get out of the
vehicle and ensure that they remain outjside the immediate area in a safe place,
such as behind a guardrail.'yDepending on the equipment version, get tools and the emergency wheel from the
vehicle.'yIf necessary, set up a warning triangle or
portable hazard warning lamp at an approj priate distance.'yDo not place wood blocks or similar itemsunder the vehicle jack; otherwise, it cannot
reach its carrying capacity because of the
restricted height.'ySecure the vehicle additionally against rollj
ing.'yLoosen the lug bolts a half turn.
Jacking
points
for
the
vehicle
jack
The jacking points for the vehicle jack are loj cated at the positions shown.
Jacking
up
the
vehicle
1.Hold the vehicle jack with one hand, arj
row 1, and grasp the crank, arrow 2, with
the other hand.
WARNING
Hands and fingers can be jammed
when using the vehicle jack. There is a risk

position and do not change this position
while using the vehicle jack.'

4.Turn the crank of the vehicle jack counterj
clockwise to retract the vehicle jack and
lower the vehicle.5.Remove the vehicle jack.
After
the
wheel
change
1.Tighten the lug bolts crosswise. The tightj ening torque is 101 lb ft/140 Nm.2.Stow the nonworking wheel in the cargo
area.
The nonworking wheel cannot be stored under the cargo floor panel because of its
size.3.Check tire inflation pressure at the next opj
portunity and correct as needed.4.Reinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor.
Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor.5.Check to make sure the lug bolts are tight
with a calibrated torque wrench.6.Drive to the nearest dealerss service center
or another qualified service center or repair
