The vehicle will be locked after closing the tailj gate. The driver's door must be closed for thispurpose and the remote control must be outj
side of the vehicle in the area of the tailgate.

ment.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of

Malfunction
Safetyinformation WARNING
With manual operation of a blocked tailj
gate, it can release itself unexpectedly from the blockage. There is a risk of injury or risk ofproperty damage. Do not operate the tailgatemanually if it is blocked. Have it checked by a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.'

To close it completely, push the tailgate down
lightly. Closing occurs automatically.
LockingseparatelyThe tailgate can be locked separately using the
switch in the center armrest. If the center armj rest is locked, the tailgate cannot be opened.'yTailgate secured, arrow 1.'yTailgate not secured, arj
row 2.
Slide the switch into the arrow 1 position. The tailgate is secured and disconnected from the
central locking system.
This is beneficial when the vehicle is parked using valet service. The remote control can behanded out without the integrated key.
Emergencyunlocking
Pull the handle inside the cargo area.
The tailgate unlocks.
AutomaticSoftClosing WARNING
Thanks to Soft Close the closing goes
into the lock automatically. Body parts can be jammed. There is a risk of injury. Make sure
that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during opening and closing.'

Profilemanagement
Openingprofiles Regardless of the remote control in use, a difjferent profile may be activated. This allows youto call up personal vehicle settings if you did
not unlock the vehicle with your own key.

The guest profile is for individual settings that are saved in none of the three personal proj
files.
This can be useful for drivers who are using
the vehicle temporarily and do not have their
own profile.

The guest profile cannot be renamed. It is not assigned to the current remote control.
Renamingprofiles A personal name can be assigned to every projfile to avoid confusion between the profiles.

The settings of the active profile are reset to
their factory settings.

Exportingprofiles Most settings of the active profile can be exjported.
This can be helpful for saving and retrieving
personal settings, e.g., before delivering the
vehicle to a workshop. Profiles can be taken to another vehicle equipped with the Personal
Profile function.

positions for driver's seat, exterior mirrors, and steering wheel.
Alarmsystem Generalinformation When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarmsystem reacts to the following changes:
'yUnauthorized opening of a door, the hood
or the tailgate.'yMovements in the interior.'yChanges in the vehicle tilt, e. g., during atj tempts at stealing a wheel or when towing
the vehicle.'yDisconnected battery voltage.
The alarm system signals these changes visuj
ally and acoustically:
'yAcoustic alarm.'yBy switching on the hazard warning sysj tem.'yBy flashing the daytime running lights.Switchingonandoff
When you lock and unlock the vehicle with the
remote control or with Comfort Access, the alarm system is switched on and off at thesame time.
Doorlockwiththealarmsystem

The alarm system is triggered when the door is
opened, if the vehicle has been unlocked via
the door lock.

Tailgatewiththealarmsystem

The tailgate can be opened even when thealarm system is switched on.
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and monitored again provided the doors arelocked. The hazard warning system flashes
once.
Panicmode
You can trigger the alarm system if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
Press button on the remote control for
at least 3 seconds.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.
Indicatorlampontheinteriormirror'yThe indicator lamp flashes briefly every
2 seconds:

Interior motion sensor and tilt alarm sensor
are not active, as doors, hood, or tailgate are not correctly closed. Correctly closedaccess points are secured.
When the still open access points are
closed, interior motion sensor and tilt alarm
sensor will be switched on.'yThe indicator lamp goes out after unlockj
ing:
The vehicle has not been tampered with.'yThe indicator lamp flashes after unlocking
until the engine ignition is switched on, but no longer than approx. 5 minutes:
An alarm has been triggered.
Tiltalarmsensor The tilt of the vehicle is monitored.
The alarm system responds in situations such
as attempts to steal a wheel or when the vehij
cle is towed.
Interiormotionsensor
The windows and the glass sunroof must be
closed for the system to function properly.
Avoidingunintentionalalarms
Generalinformation
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor can trigger an alarm, although no unauthorj ized action occurred.
Possible situations for an unwanted alarm:
'yIn automatic vehicle washes.'yIn duplex garages.'yDuring transport on trains carrying vehij
cles, at sea or on a trailer.'yWith animals in the vehicle.
The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion sensor can be switched off in such situations.

Press the remote control button again
within 10 seconds as soon as the vehicle
is locked.
The indicator lamp lights up for approx. 2 secj
onds and then continues to flash.
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor are turned off until the vehicle is locked
again.
Switchingoffthealarm'yUnlock the vehicle with the remote control or switch on the ignition, if needed through
emergency detection of remote control, rej fer to page 37.'yWith Comfort Access:
If you are carrying the remote control on
your person, grasp the door handle on the driver's or front passenger door comj

Powerwindows

When operating the windows, body parts

Safetyswitch
Generalinformation
The safety switch in the driver's door can be
used to prevent children, e.g., from opening and closing the rear windows using the
switches in the rear.
If an accident of a certain severity occurs, the safety function is switched off automatically.
Switchingonandoff Press button.
The LED lights up if the safety funcj
tion is switched on.
Rollersunblinds Generalinformation
If you are no longer able to move the roller sunj
blind for the rear window after having activated
it a number of times in a row, the system is
blocked for a limited time to prevent overheatj ing. Let the system cool.
The roller sunblind for the rear window cannot
be moved at low interior temperatures.
Driver'sdoorcontrols
Rollersunblindforrearwindow Press button.
Rollersunblindsfortherearside
windows
Pull out the roller sunblind at the loop and hook
it onto the bracket.
WARNING
With closed roller sunblinds and open
windows, the roller sunblinds can be loaded
heavily while driving due to the wind. The roller
sunblinds can be damaged and compromise
the passengers. There is risk of injuries. Do not
open the windows while driving if the roller
sunblinds are closed.'
