WARNING
Indicators and warnings do not relieve
the driver from personal responsibility. Due to
system limits, warnings or reactions of the sysj
tem may not be output or they may be output
too late or incorrectly. There is a risk of an acj
cident. Adjust the driving style to the traffic conditions. Watch traffic closely and activelyintervene in the respective situations.'

Approachcontrolwarning
withlightbrakingfunction
Concept
The system can help prevent accidents. If an
accident cannot be prevented, the system will help reduce the collision speed.
The system sounds a warning before an immij
nent collision and actuates brakes independj
ently, if needed.
Generalinformation The system is controlled using a camera.
If the vehicle is equipped with a radar sensor,
the approach control warning is additionally
controlled via the cruise control radar sensor.
Intersection warning when equipped with a raj dar sensor: in addition, a warning is issued at
intersections and junctions if a risk of collision
with crossing traffic is detected.
The approach control warning is available even
if cruise control has been deactivated. With the vehicle approaching another vehicle
intentionally, the approach control warning and
braking are delayed in order to avoid false sysj
tem reactions.
The system issues a two-phase warning of a possible risk of collision with vehicles at
speeds above approx. 3 mph/5 km/h. Time of
warnings may vary with the current driving sitj uation.
Detectionrange
Objects that the system can detect are taken into account.
Intersection warning: the system is also able to
detect vehicles crossing your direction of travel when these vehicles enter into the dejtection range of the system.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Indicators and warnings do not relieve
the driver from personal responsibility. Due to
system limits, warnings or reactions of the sysj
tem may not be output or they may be output
too late or incorrectly. There is a risk of an acj
cident. Adjust the driving style to the traffic conditions. Watch traffic closely and activelyintervene in the respective situations.'

Prewarning
This warning is issued, for instance when there
is the impending danger of a collision or the distance to the vehicle ahead is too small.
If a prewarning is issued, intervene in the situaj
tion yourself.
Acutewarningwithbrakingfunction
Acute warning is displayed in case of the immij nent danger of a collision when the vehicle apj
proaches another object at a high differential
speed.
If an acute warning is issued, intervene in the
situation yourself. If necessary, the system
provides assistance, such as with an automatic
braking intervention, in a possible risk of collij
sion.
Acute warnings can also be triggered without
previous forewarning.

ing force is used when the brake is actuated.
Prerequisite is sufficiently quick and hard stepj ping on the brake pedal.
The system can additionally assist possibly
with automatic braking intervention if there is a
risk of a collision.
At low speeds the vehicle can be decelerated
to a complete stop.
The braking intervention takes place up to apj
prox. 50 mph/80 km/h.
The braking intervention is executed only if vej
hicle stability has not been restricted, for inj
stance by deactivating the DSC Dynamic Staj
bility Control.
The braking intervention can be interrupted by
stepping on the accelerator pedal or by acj
tively moving the steering wheel.
Object detection can be restricted. Observe
the limitations of the detection range and funcj tional restrictions.

Above approx. 130 mph/210 km/h the braking
intervention occurs as a brief braking pressure. No automatic delay occurs.
The braking intervention can be interrupted by
stepping on the accelerator pedal or by acj tively moving the steering wheel.Cross-traffic warning: brake intervention is notperformed in the event of cross traffic.

Safetyinformation WARNING
The system can react incorrectly or not
at all due to the system limits. There is a risk of accidents or risk of property damage. Observethe information regarding the system limits

Functionallimitations
The system may not be fully functional in the
following situations:'yIn heavy fog, rain, sprayed water or snowj
fall.'yIn tight curves.'yIf the driving stability control systems are limited or deactivated, for instance DSC
OFF.'yIf the field of view of the camera or the
windshield is dirty or covered in the area of
the interior mirror.'yDepending on the equipment: if the radar
sensors are dirty or covered.'yUp to 10 seconds after the start of the enj gine via the Start/Stop button.'yDuring calibration of the camera immedijately after vehicle delivery.'yIf there are constant blinding effects bej
cause of oncoming light, for instance from
the sun low in the sky.
Warningsensitivity
The more sensitive the warning settings are,
such as the warning time, the more warnings
are displayed. However, there may also be an excess of premature warnings.
Evasionassistance
Concept
The system supports the driver in making evaj
sive maneuvers in certain situations, such as when obstacles suddenly appear.
Generalinformation The system issues a warning and intervenes to
support the driver if a lateral evasive maneuver
is possible. Sensors monitor and detect the
clearance around the vehicle. If the system identifies space alongside the vehicle, it supj
ports an evasive maneuver begun by the driverby safely providing targeted steering support.
Detectionrange
Objects that the system can detect are takeninto account.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not release from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess visij
bility and traffic situation. There is a risk of an
accident. Adjust the driving style to the traffic
conditions. Watch traffic closely and actively intervene in the respective situations.'

Rear bumper.
Always keep the bumper in the area of the raj dar sensors clean and unobstructed.
Camera
The camera is installed near the interior mirror. Keep the windshield in front of the interior mirj
ror clean and clear.
Functionalrequirements
'yApproach control warning with light brakj ing function, refer to page 142, is switched
on.'ySensors detect sufficient clearance around
the vehicle.
Switchingon/off
The system is automatically active after every
driving off.
