Generalinformation
Depending on the situation, the vehicle is in
one of the three states:'yIdle state.'yStandby state.'yDrive-ready state.
Idlestate
Concept
If the vehicle is in idle state, it is switched off.
All electronic systems/power consumers are
deactivated.
Generalinformation
The vehicle is in idle state prior to opening
from the outside and after exiting and locking.
Safetyinformation WARNING
An unsecured vehicle can begin to move
and possibly roll away. There is a risk of an acj cident. Before exiting, secure the vehicleagainst rolling.
In order to ensure that the vehicle is securedagainst rolling away, observe the following:'ySet the parking brake.'yOn uphill grades or on a downhill slope,
turn the front wheels in the direction of the
curb.'yOn uphill grades or on a downhill slope,
also secure the vehicle, e.g., with a wheel chock.'

Standbystate
Concept
When standby state is switched on, most funcj tions can be used while the vehicle is stationj
ary. Desired settings can be adjusted.
Generalinformation The vehicle is in standby state after opening
the front doors.
Displayintheinstrumentcluster
OFF is displayed in the instruj
ment cluster. The drivetrain is
switched off and standby state switched on.
Drive-readystate Concept
Switching on drive-ready state corresponds to
starting the engine.
Generalinformation
Some functions, such as DSC, can only be used with drive-ready state switched on.
Follow further information on the drive-ready
state, refer to page 97.
Switchingondrive-readystate Drive-ready state is switched onvia the Start/Stop button:1.Depress the brake pedal.2.Press the Start/Stop button.
Displayintheinstrumentcluster
When the drive-ready state is
switched on, READY is disj played in the instrument cluster.
Switchingoffdrive-readystate Press the Start/Stop button to switch off drive-ready state. The vehicle switches into standbystate.
