Temperature
Concept
The automatic climate control achieves the set
temperature as quickly as possible, if needed,
by using the maximum cooling or heating caj
pacity, and then keeps it constant.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
Do not rapidly switch between different temperature settings.
Otherwise, the automatic clij
mate control will not have sufficient time to adj just the set temperature.
Display
Symbol is displayed permanently on the
display of the automatic climate control.
Airconditioning Concept
The air in the vehicle's interior will be cooled
and dehumidified and, depending on the temj
perature setting, warmed again.
The vehicle's interior can only be cooled with
the drive-ready state switched on.
Switchingon/off
Press button.
The LED is illuminated with air condij
tioning switched on.
Air conditioning is switched on with the engine running.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and
side windows may fog up briefly when drive-
ready state is switched on.
The cooling function is switched on automatij
cally with the AUTO program.
When using the automatic climate control,
condensation water develops and collects unj
derneath the vehicle.
Maximumcooling Concept

ton: decrease or increase intensity.
The selected intensity is shown on the display of the automatic climate control.
Automaticrecirculated-aircontrol
AUC
Concept
The automatic recirculated-air control AUC recognizes odors or pollutants in the outside
air. The outside air supply is shut off and the interior air is recirculated.
Generalinformation
If the system is activated, a sensor detects polj
lutants in the outside air and controls the shut-
off automatically.
If the system is deactivated, outside air continj uously flows into the vehicle's interior. With constant recirculated-air mode, the air
quality in the vehicle's interior deteriorates and the fogging of the windows increases.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED lights up if the system is
switched on using the button.
If there is window condensation, switch off the
recirculated-air mode and press the button on
the driver's side to utilize the condensation
sensor. Make sure that air can flow to the
windshield.

pollutants from the outside air that enters the
vehicle.
Have this combined filter changed during vehij
cle maintenance, refer to page 294.
Ventilation Concept
The air flow directions can be individually adj
justed.
Adjustingtheventilation
Generalinformation
The air flow directions can be adjusted for dij
rect or indirect ventilation.
Directventilation The air flow is directed towards the passenj
gers. The air flow heats or cools noticeably, depending on the adjusted temperature.
IndirectventilationThe air flow is not directed towards the pasjsengers. The vehicle interior is warmed orcooled indirectly, depending on the set temj
perature.

Parked-vehicleventilation
Concept
The parked-vehicle ventilation ventilates the
vehicle's interior. Depending on set temperaj
ture and ambient temperature, the vehicle's inj terior is cooled or possibly heated using the rejsidual engine heat.
Generalinformation
The system can be switched on and off dij
rectly or via a pre-set departure time.
The activation time is determined based on the external temperature. The system promptlyswitches on before the selected departuretime.
Functionalrequirements
'yThe vehicle is in idle state or standby state
and not in drive-ready state.'yBattery is sufficiently charged.
If parked-vehicle ventilation is switched on,
the vehicle battery will be discharged.
Thus, limit the maximum activation time to save the vehicle battery. The system willbe available again after engine starting
and/or a short trip.'yMake sure that the vehicle's date and time
are set correctly.'yOpen the vents to allow air to flow out.

Generalinformation
There are different ways to switch the system
on or off.
The system switches off automatically after a certain period of time. The system continues
to run for some time after being switched off.

Ambientairpackage
Concept
The Ambient Air Package can be used to clean and scent the interior air with high-quality fraj grances.
Ionization is used to clean the air from susj
pended particles. Together with the selected
fragrance, ionization contributes to well-being
and relaxation while driving.
Generalinformation
Two different fragrances can be selected in the vehicle. A variety of other fragrances is possij
ble by replacing the fragrance cartridges.
The following criteria can influence the perj
ception of scents in the vehicle interior:'yAutomatic climate control settings.'yTemperature and air humidity.'yTime of day and season.'yPhysical condition of the vehicle occuj pants, for instance fatigue.
BMW recommends the use of genuine BMW
fragrance cartridges.
The genuine BMW fragrance cartridges are not
suitable for refilling. When a cartridge is empty, replace it with a new fragrance cartridge.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Refilled genuine BMW fragrance carj
tridges can cause the emission of harmful subj stances, malfunctions, and damage to the sysj
tem. There is a risk of injury or risk of property damage. Do not refill genuine fragrance carj
tridges. When a cartridge is empty, replace it
with a new fragrance cartridge.'
