Do not transport the display key together with
metal objects or electronic devices.
In the case of interference, the vehicle can also
be unlocked and locked from the outside with the mechanical key.

1.Hold the display key with its back againstthe marked area on the steering column.2.Switch on drive-ready state within 10 secj
onds.
If the display key is not detected, slightly change the position of the display key and rej
peat the procedure.
ResettingtheBMWdisplaykey
If the charged display key cannot be switched on anymore or if the display does not respondto entries anymore, the display key can be rejset.
Press and hold the button on the left side of
the display key for at least 20 seconds, until
something appears on the display.
Integratedkey
Generalinformation
The driver's door can be locked and unlocked
without remote control using the integrated
key.
The integrated key also fits the glove compartj ment.
Safetyinformation WARNING
For some country-specific variants, unj
locking from the inside is only possible with special knowledge.
Persons who spend a lengthy time in the vehij
cle while being exposed to extreme temperaj tures are at risk of injury or death. Do not lockthe vehicle from the outside when there are
people in it.'

Unlocking/lockingviathedoorlock1.Pull the door handle outward with the left
hand and hold it.2.Guide one finger of the right hand from the back under the cover, feel for the release
there, press outwards, and at the same time press the cover to the right with the
left thumb.3.Unlock or lock the door lock using the intej
grated key.
The other doors must be unlocked or locked from the inside.
Alarmsystem
The alarm system is not armed if the vehicle is
locked with the integrated key.
The alarm system is triggered when the door is
opened, if the vehicle has been unlocked via
the door lock.
In order to stop the alarm, unlock the vehicle
with the remote control, if necessary through
emergency detection of the remote control, rej
fer to page 57.
Buttonsforthecentral
lockingsystem
Generalinformation In the event of a severe accident, the vehicle is
automatically unlocked. The hazard warning
system and interior lights come on.

Concept
The vehicle can be accessed without activatj
ing the remote control.
All you need to do is to have the remote conj
trol with you, such as in your pants pocket.
The vehicle automatically detects the remote
control when it is in close proximity or in the
vehicle's interior.

touch activation.
Functionalrequirements
'yTo lock the vehicle, the remote control must be located outside of the vehicle near
the doors.'yThe next unlocking and locking cycle is not possible until after approx. 2 seconds.Unlocking
Grasp the handle of a vehicle door completely.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Locking
The driver's door must be closed.
Touch the grooved surface on the handle of a
closed vehicle door with your finger for approx. 1 second without grasping the door handle.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Convenientclosing

With convenient closing, body parts can
be jammed. There is a risk of injury. Make sure
that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during convenient closing.'

Closing
Touch the grooved surface on the handle of a
closed vehicle door with your finger and hold it
there without grasping the door handle.
This corresponds to pressing and holding the button
on the remote control.
In addition to locking, the windows and the
glass sunroof close and the exterior mirrors fold in.
Opentailgate
Generalinformation
If you open the tailgate via Comfort Access,
locked doors will not be unlocked.
To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place
the remote control in the cargo area.

Closing
Frominsidethetailgate
Without Comfort Access:
Press button on the inside of the tailgate.
With Comfort Access:
'yPress button, arrow 1, on the inside of the
tailgate.'yPress button, arrow 2.
The vehicle will be locked after closing the
tailgate. The driver's door must be closed
for this purpose and the remote control
must be outside of the vehicle in the area
of the tailgate.
An acoustic signal sounds before the tailgate is
closed.
Interruptionoftheclosingprocedure
The closing operation is interrupted:
'yBy pressing the pressed button again or by
releasing the held button.'yIf the vehicle starts off with a jerky movej
ment.
Lockingseparately
The tailgate can be locked separately using the
switch in the glove compartment. If the glove compartment is locked, the tailgate cannot beopened.
'yTailgate secured, arrow 1.'yTailgate not secured, arj
row 2.
Slide the switch into the arrow 1 position. The tailgate is secured and decoupled from the
central locking system.
This is beneficial when the vehicle is parked using valet service. The remote control can behanded out without the integrated key.

Regardless of the remote control in use, a difj
ferent driver profile may be activated. This alj lows you to call up personal vehicle settings if
you did not unlock the vehicle with your own remote control.

the remote control being used at the time.'yIf the driver profile is already assigned to a

Guestprofile
The guest profile is for individual settings that
are stored in none of the three personal driver
profiles.
This can be useful for drivers who are using
the vehicle temporarily and do not have their
own driver profile.

The guest profile cannot be renamed. It is not assigned to the current remote control.
Renamingadriverprofile
A personal name can be assigned to the active
driver profile to avoid confusion between the
