DrivingcomfortVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
Adaptivechassis
Concept
This system reduces undesirable vehicle motion when using a dynamic driving style or travelingon uneven road surfaces.
This enhances the driving dynamics and driving
comfort depending on the road surface condition
and driving style.
Generalinformation The system offers several different damping setj
tings.
The damping settings are assigned to the differj ent driving modes of the Driving Dynamics Conj
trol, refer to page 140.

SPORT PLUSFirmAdaptiveDrive
Concept
Adaptive Drive is an actively controlled chassis/
suspension. The system increases driving comj
fort and minimizes the lateral tilt when driving
around curves.
GeneralinformationFor active control, this system uses the availableinformation, for instance from the navigation sysjtem or the driving style analysis.
In particular in the ADAPTIVE driving mode, refer
to page 141, this information is used to influence
the adaptive chassis, refer to page 241, control
and the active roll stabilization, refer to
page 241, control. This further increases both
the agility of the vehicle as well as the lane stabilj ity.
The function may be restricted if the navigation
data is invalid, outdated or not available, for exj
ample.
Activerollstabilization
Concept
The system reduces the lateral tilt of the vehicle
that occurs during rapid driving in curves or durj
ing quick evasive maneuvers.
The lateral tilt of the vehicle is balanced out by
permanent adjustment on the front and rear
axles. The vehicle is thus always stabilized.
Agility and driving comfort are increased under all driving conditions.
GeneralinformationThe system offers several different tunings.

safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved by an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a
climate-control system for regulating temperaj ture, air flow, and recirculated-air mode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, ionization, frajgrancing, automatic climate control with autoj
matic recirculated-air control AUC, and parked-
car ventilation.

front passenger side.Temperature
Concept
The automatic climate control achieves the set temperature as quickly as possible, if needed, by
using the maximum cooling or heating capacity,
and then keeps it constant.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
Do not rapidly switch between difj
ferent temperature settings. Othj
erwise, the automatic climate
control will not have sufficient time to adjust the set temperature.
Airconditioning Concept
The air in the car's interior will be cooled and dej humidified and, depending on the temperaturesetting, warmed again.
The car's interior can only be cooled with the
drive-ready state switched on.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED is illuminated with air condij
tioning switched on.
Air conditioning is switched on with the engine
running.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and side windows may fog up briefly when drive- ready state is switched on.
The air conditioning is switched on automatically
with the AUTO program.
When using the automatic climate control, conj densation water develops and collects underjneath the vehicle.Seite 244CONTROLSClimatecontrol244

Recirculated-airmode
Concept
You may react to unpleasant odors or pollutants
in the immediate environment by temporarily
suspending the supply of outside air. The system then recirculates the air flow within the vehicle.
Operation Press button repeatedly to select an opjerating mode:'xLED off: outside air flows in continuously.'xLED on: the supply of outside air is permaj
nently shut off.
To prevent window fogging, recirculated-air
mode switches off automatically after a certain amount of time, depending on the environmental
conditions.
With constant recirculated-air mode, the air qualj ity in the car's interior deteriorates and the fogj
ging of the windows increases.
If there is window condensation, switch off recirj
culated-air mode or defog the windows, refer to page 247.
Controllingtheairflowmanually
Concept
The air flow for climate control can be adjusted
manually.
Generalinformation
To manually adjust air flow switch off AUTO proj gram first.
Operation Press the left or right side of the button:
decrease or increase air flow.
The selected air flow is shown on the display of the automatic climate control.
The air flow of the automatic climate control may
be reduced automatically to save battery power.

Concept
Ice and condensation are quickly removed from the windshield and the front side windows.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED is illuminated with the system
switched on.
Point the side vents towards the side windows, as needed. The air flow can be adjusted manj
ually with the system switched on.
If there is window condensation, pressthe button on the driver's side or switch
on air conditioning to utilize the condensation
sensor. Make sure that air can flow to the windj
shield.
Rearwindowdefroster Press button. The LED lights up.
The function is available with the engine running.
The rear window defroster switches off automatj ically after a certain period of time.
Microfilter/activated-charcoal
filter
The microfilter removes dust and pollen from the
incoming air.
The activated-charcoal filter removes gaseous
pollutants from the outside air that enters the vej
hicle.
Have this combined filter changed during vehicle
maintenance, refer to page 338.Ventilation
Concept
The air flow directions can be individually adj
justed.
Adjustingtheventilation
Generalinformation The air flow directions can be adjusted for direct
or indirect ventilation.
Directventilation
The air flow is directed towards the passengers. The air flow heats or cools noticeably, depending
on the adjusted temperature.
Indirectventilation The air flow is not directed towards the passenj
gers. The car's interior is warmed or cooled indij
rectly, depending on the set temperature.

Parked-carventilation
Concept
The parked-car ventilation ventilates the car's inj terior. Depending on set temperature and ambijent temperature, the car's interior is cooled or
possibly heated using the residual engine heat.
Generalinformation The system can be switched on and off directly
or via a pre-set departure time.
The activation time is determined based on the
external temperature. The system promptly
switches on before the selected departure time.
Functionalrequirements
'xThe vehicle is in idle state or standby state
and not in drive-ready state.'xBattery is sufficiently charged.
If parked-car ventilation is switched on, the vehicle battery will be discharged. Thus, limit
the maximum activation time to save the vej
hicle battery. The system will be available
again after the engine is started or after a
short trip.'xMake sure that the vehicle's date and time
are set correctly.'xOpen the vents to allow air to flow out.Seite 250CONTROLSClimatecontrol250
