Ambientairpackage
Concept
The Ambient Air Package can be used to clean
and scent the interior air with high-quality fraj
grances.
Ionization is used to clean the air from susj pended particles. Together with the selected fraj
grance, ionization contributes to well-being and
relaxation while driving.
Generalinformation Two different fragrances can be selected in the
vehicle. A variety of other fragrances is possible by replacing the fragrance cartridges.
The following criteria can influence the percepj
tion of scents in the car's interior:
'xAutomatic climate control settings.'xTemperature and air humidity.'xTime of day and season.'xPhysical condition of the vehicle occupants,
for instance fatigue.
BMW recommends the use of genuine BMW
fragrance cartridges.
The genuine BMW fragrance cartridges are not
suitable for refilling. When a cartridge is empty,
replace it with a new fragrance cartridge.

InteriorequipmentVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
IntegratedUniversal RemoteControl
Concept
The integrated Universal Remote Control in the interior mirror can operate up to 3 functions of remote-controlled systems, such as garage doordrives, barriers, or lighting systems.
Generalinformation The Integrated Universal Remote Control replaj
ces up to 3 different hand-held transmitters. To
operate the remote control, the buttons on the interior mirror must be programmed with the dej
sired functions. The hand-held transmitter for the particular system is required in order to programthe remote control.
Before selling the vehicle, delete the stored funcj tions for the sake of security.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operating rej mote-controlled systems, such as the garage
door, using the integrated Universal Remote
Control. There is a risk of injury or risk of damj
age to property. Make sure that the area of
movement of the respective system is clear
during programming and operation. Also follow
the safety information of the hand-held transj
mitter.

Programming
Generalinformation
1.Switch on standby state.2.Initial setup:
Press and hold the two outer buttons on the
interior mirror simultaneously for approxij
mately 10 seconds until the LED flashes green rapidly. This erases all programming ofthe buttons on the interior mirror.3.Press the interior mirror button to be proj
grammed. The LED flashes orange.4.Hold the hand-held transmitter for the system to be controlled approx. 1 to 3 in/2.5 to 8 cm
away from the buttons of the interior mirror. The required distance depends on the hand-held transmitter.5.Press and hold the button of the desired
function on the hand-held transmitter. The
LED on the interior mirror will begin flashing orange slowly.6.As soon as the LED flashes green more rapj
idly or lights up continuously, release the butj
ton. Green light indicates that the button on the interior mirror has been programmed.Faster green flashing indicates that it is a rollj
ing code wireless system.
If the LED does not flash faster after at least
60 seconds, change the distance between
the interior mirror and the hand-held transj mitter and repeat the step. Several more atj
tempts at different distances may be necesj
sary. Wait at least 15 seconds between
attempts.
Canada: if programming with the hand-held
transmitter was interrupted, hold down the inj
terior mirror button and repeatedly press and
release the hand-held transmitter button for
2 seconds.7.To program other functions on other buttons,

Specialfeatureoftherollingcode
wirelesssystem
If you are unable to operate the system after rej
peated programming, please check if the system to be controlled features a rolling code radio sysjtem.
Read the system's owner's manual, or press the
programmed button on the interior mirror longer.
If the LED on the interior mirror starts flashing
rapidly and then stays lit constantly for 2 secj onds, the system features a rolling code radiosystem. Flashing and continuous illumination ofthe LED will repeat for approximately 20 secj
onds.
For systems with a rolling code radio system, the
integrated Universal Remote Control and the
system also have to be synchronized.
Please read the owner's manual to find out how to synchronize the system.
Synchronizing is easier with the aid of a second
person.
