Hybrid
system
Concept
This
BMW
is
a
hybrid
vehicle.
In
addition
to
the
combustion
engine,
the
vehicle
features
a
high- voltage
system
that
consists
of
an
electric
motorand
a
high-voltage
battery
among
other
things.
The
hybrid
system
can
move
the
vehicle
entirely
on
battery
power.
It
can
also
support
the
com#j bustion
engine
in
certain
situations.
General
informationThe
vehicle
does
not
consume
any
fuel
whiledriving
purely
electrically.
This
enables
environ#j
mentally
friendly
driving
without
emissions
in
cer#j
tain
conditions,
for
example,
in
city
traffic.
If
the
combustion
engine
is
used,
the
hybrid
system
support
reduces
fuel
consumption
even
further.
In
addition
to
this,
the
electric
motor
acts
as
an
alternator:
during
braking
and
coasting,
the
elec#j
tric
motor
converts

vehicle's
kinetic
energy
into
electrical
energy.
The
electrical
energy
is
stored
in

high-voltage
battery
and
is
used
to
drive
the
electric
