In addition, there is no downshifting for kickjdown.

Push the selector lever to the right.

Shiftpaddles
Concept
The shift paddles on the steering wheel allow
you to shift gears quickly while keeping both hands on the steering wheel.
Generalinformation Shifting
The vehicle only shifts at suitable engine and road speeds.
Short-termmanualmode
In selector lever position D, actuating a shift padj
dle switches into manual mode temporarily.
After conservative driving in manual mode withj
out acceleration or shifting via the shift paddles
for a certain amount of time, the transmission
switches back to automatic mode.
Continuousmanualmode
In selector lever position S, actuating a shift padj
dle switches into manual mode permanently.

Electronically unlock the transmission lock to
maneuver vehicle from a danger area.
Unlocking is possible, if the starter can spin the
engine.

Before unlocking the transmission lock, set theparking brake to prevent the vehicle from rolling
away.
EngagingselectorleverpositionN1.Press and hold down brake pedal.2.Press the Start/Stop button. The starter mustaudibly start.3.Press the button on the selector lever, arj
row 1, and press and hold the selector lever into selector lever position N, arrow N, until
selector lever position N is displayed in the inj strument cluster.
A Check Control message is displayed.4.Release the selector lever.5.Release brake, as soon as the starter stops.6.Maneuver the vehicle from the danger area
and secure it against moving on its own.

LaunchControl
Concept
Launch Control enables optimum acceleration on surfaces with good traction under dry surj
rounding conditions.
Generalinformation The use of Launch Control causes premature
component wear since this function represents a
very heavy load for the vehicle.
Do not use Launch Control during the break-in,
refer to page 222, period.
To start with Launch Control do not steer the
steering wheel.
Functionalrequirements Launch Control is available when the engine is at
operating temperature. The engine is at operatj
ing temperature after an uninterrupted trip of at least 6 miles/10 km.
Startwithlaunchcontrol While the engine is running:1. Press button or select Sport+ with
the Driving Dynamics Control.
TRACTION is displayed in the instrument cluster and the indicator light for DSC OFFlights up.2.Engage selector lever position S.3.With the left foot, forcefully press down on
the brake.4.Press and hold down the accelerator pedal
beyond the resistance point at the full throttle
position, kickdown.
A flag symbol is displayed in the instrument
cluster.5.The starting engine speed adjusts. Within 3 seconds, release the brake.
Repeateduseduringatrip
After Launch Control has been used, the transj mission must cool down for approx. 5 minutesbefore Launch Control can be used again.
Launch Control adjusts to the surrounding conj
ditions, when used again.
AfterusingLaunchControl To increase vehicle stability, activate DSC Dyj
namic Stability Control again.

The instrument display is a variable display.
When you change to a different program via Drivjing Dynamics Control, the displays in the instruj
ment display adapt to the respective program.

reached, the entire display flashes and the supj
ply of fuel is interrupted in order to protect the
engine.
CheckControl
Concept
The Check Control system monitors functions in
the vehicle and notifies you of malfunctions in the monitored systems.
GeneralinformationA Check Control message is displayed as a comj
bination of indicator or warning lights and SMS text messages in the instrument cluster and in
the Head-up Display.
In addition, an acoustic signal may sound and an SMS text message may appear on the Control
Display.
Indicator/warninglights
Generalinformation
The indicator/warning lights in the instrument
cluster can light up in a variety of combinations
and colors.
Several of the lights are checked for proper funcj tioning and light up temporarily when the engine
is started or the ignition is switched on.
Redlights
Safetybeltreminder Safety belt on the driver's side is notbuckled. For some country versions: pasj senger belt is not worn or objects are dej
tected on the front passenger seat.
Indicator light flashes or is illuminated: safety belt
on the driver or passenger side is not buckled.
The safety belt reminder can also be activated if
objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
Make sure that the safety belts are positioned correctly.
Airbagsystem Airbag system and belt tensioner are notworking.
Have the vehicle checked immediately
by a dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Parkingbrake The parking brake is set.
Release the parking brake, refer to
page 101.

ferential speed.

If a collision with a person detected in
this way is imminent, the symbol lights
up and a signal sounds.

not adequate for the system to work.

Avoid abrupt braking. Take the longer
braking distance into account.

the drive and braking forces. The vehicle
is stabilized. Reduce speed and modify
your driving style to the driving circumstances.
The indicator light lights up: DSC has malfuncj
