ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved by
an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a
climate-control system for regulating temperaj
ture, air flow, and recirculated-air mode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance
microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, automatic clij
mate control with automatic recirculated-air conj
trol AUC, and parked-car ventilation.Automaticclimatecontrol

Temperature
Concept
The automatic climate control achieves the set
temperature as quickly as possible, if needed, by using the maximum cooling or heating capacity,
and then keeps it constant.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
Do not rapidly switch between different temperaj ture settings. Otherwise, the automatic climate
control will not have sufficient time to adjust the
set temperature.
Airconditioning
Concept
The air in the car's interior will be cooled and dej humidified and, depending on the temperature
setting, warmed again.
The car's interior can only be cooled with the enj
gine running.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED is illuminated with air condij
tioning switched on.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and
side windows may fog up briefly when the enj gine is started.
The air conditioning is switched on automatically with the AUTO program.
When using the automatic climate control, conj densation water, refer to page 225, develops
and drains underneath the vehicle. This is norj mal.

tings on the driver's side for temperature, air
flow, air distribution, and the AUTO program to
the front passenger side and to the left and right
rear.
Switchingon/off Press button.
Current settings on the driver's side for
the temperature, air flow, air distribution, and
AUTO program are transferred to the front pasj
senger side.
The program is switched off if the settings on the
front passenger side are changed.

Parked-carventilation
Concept
The parked-car ventilation ventilates the car's inj terior and lowers its temperature, if needed.
Generalinformation The parked-car ventilation can be switched onand off directly or by using two preset activation
times. The system remains switched on for
30 minutes.
The parked-car ventilation system is operated via
iDrive.
Functionalrequirements Parked-carventilation
'xDirect operation: vehicle is in radio-ready
state.'xDirect operation or preset activation time:
does not depend on external temperature.'xBattery is sufficiently charged.
If parked-car ventilation is switched on, the vehicle battery will be discharged. Thus, limit
the maximum activation time to save the vej
hicle battery. The system will be available
again after the engine is started or after a
short trip.'xMake sure that the vehicle's date and time
are set correctly.'xOpen the vents to allow air to flow out.

InteriorequipmentVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
IntegratedUniversal RemoteControl
Concept
The integrated Universal Remote Control in the interior mirror can operate up to 3 functions of remote-controlled systems, such as garage doordrives, barriers, or lighting systems. The
Integrated Universal Remote Control replaces up to 3 different hand-held transmitters. To operate
the remote control, the buttons on the interior mirror must be programmed with the desiredfunctions. The hand-held transmitter for the parj
ticular system is required in order to program the
remote control.
Before selling the vehicle, delete the stored funcj tions for the sake of security.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operating rej
mote-controlled systems, such as the garage door, using the integrated Universal Remote
Control. There is a risk of injury or risk of damj
age to property. Make sure that the area of
movement of the respective system is clear during programming and operation. Also follow
the safety information of the hand-held transj
mitter.
Compatibility If this symbol is printed on the packaging
or in the owner's manual of the system to
be controlled, the system is generally
compatible with the integrated Universal Remote
Control.

Programming
Generalinformation1.Switch on the ignition.2.Initial setup:
Press and hold the two outer buttons on the
interior mirror simultaneously for approxij
mately 20 seconds until the LED on the intej rior mirror flashes. This erases all programj
ming of the buttons on the interior mirror.3.Hold the hand-held transmitter for the system to be controlled approx. 1 to 3 inches/2.5 to
8 cm away from the buttons of the interior mirror. The required distance depends on the
hand-held transmitter.4.Simultaneously press and hold the button of
the desired function on the hand-held transj
mitter and the button to be programmed on the interior mirror. The LED on the interiormirror will begin flashing slowly.5.Release both buttons as soon as the LED
flashes more rapidly. The LED flashing faster indicates that the button on the interior mirrorhas been programmed.
If the LED does not flash faster after at least
60 seconds, change the distance between
the interior mirror and the hand-held transj mitter and repeat the step. Several more atj
tempts at different distances may be necesj
sary. Wait at least 15 seconds between
attempts.
Canada: if programming with the hand-held transmitter was interrupted, hold down the inj
terior mirror button and repeatedly press and
release the hand-held transmitter button for
2 seconds.6.To program other functions on other buttons,
repeat steps 3 to 5.
The systems can be controlled using the interior
mirror buttons.
Specialfeatureoftherollingcode
wirelesssystem
If you are unable to operate the system after rej
peated programming, please check if the system to be controlled features a rolling code radio sysjtem.
Read the system's owner's manual, or press the
programmed button on the interior mirror longer. If the LED on the interior mirror starts flashing
rapidly and then stays lit constantly for 2 secj onds, the system features a rolling code radiosystem. Flashing and continuous illumination ofthe LED will repeat for approximately 20 secj
onds.
For systems with a rolling code radio system, the
integrated Universal Remote Control and the
system also have to be synchronized.
Please read the owner's manual to find out how to synchronize the system.
Synchronizing is easier with the aid of a second
person.
Synchronizing the universal remote control with the system:1.Park the vehicle within range of the remote-
controlled system.2.Program the desired button on the interior mirror as described.3.Locate and press the synchronizing button
on the system being programmed. You have approx. 30 seconds for the next step.4.Hold down the programmed button on the injterior mirror for approximately 3 seconds andthen release it. If necessary, repeat this step
up to three times in order to finish synchronij
zation. Once synchronization is complete, the
programmed function will be carried out.
Reprogrammingindividual
buttons
1.Switch on the ignition.2.Press and hold the interior mirror button to be programmed.Seite 210CONTROLS*nteriorequipment210
