Switchingon/offautomaticallyThe Control Display is switched on automaticallyafter unlocking.
In certain situations, the Control Display is
switched off automatically, for instance if no opj
eration is performed on the vehicle for several
minutes.

Controller
The buttons can be used to open the menus dij

Opens a new display on top of the previous
screen.
White arrows pointing to the left or right indicate
that additional displays can be opened.

Entering letters requires some practice at the bej
ginning. When entering, pay attention to the folj
lowing:
'xThe system distinguishes between upper
and lower-case letters and numbers. To
make entries, it may be necessary to change between upper and lower-case letters, numj
bers and characters, refer to page 46.'xEnter characters as they are displayed on the
Control Display.'xAlways enter associated characters, such as
accents or periods so that the letter can be
clearly recognized. The set language deterj
mines what input is possible. Where necesj
sary, enter special characters via the Controlj ler.'xTo delete a character, swipe to the left on the
touchpad.'xTo enter a blank space, swipe to the right in the center of the touchpad.'xTo enter a hyphen, swipe to the right in theupper area of the touchpad.'xTo enter an underscore, swipe to the right in

Depending on the usage, the vehicle stores perj
sonal data, such as stored radio stations. This
personal data can be permanently deleted using iDrive.

Most functions displayed on the Control Display
can be operated by voice commands via the
voice activation system. The system supports
you with announcements during input.

Activate voice command response on the smartjphone for this purpose.1.Press and hold the button on the

response, the list of Bluetooth devices appears
on the Control Display.
