Accessories on the windows such as antennas can impact jam protection. There is a risk of injjury. Do not install accessories in the area of
movement of the windows.
Closingwithoutthejamprotection
system
In case of danger from the outside or if ice might
prevent normal closing, proceed as follows:
1. Pull the switch past the resistance point
and hold it there.
The window closes with limited jam protecj
tion. If the closing force exceeds a specific threshold, closing is interrupted.2. Pull the switch past the resistance point
again within approx. 4 seconds and hold it
there.
The window closes without jam protection.
Convertibletop
Generalinformation
The convertible top can be opened or closed at
speeds up to approx. 25 mph/40 km/h.
If the vehicle is accelerated above a speed of apjprox. 30 mph/50 km/h while the convertible top is

being moved, the convertible top movement
stops.
Follow the following information:'xThe tailgate can normally not be opened if the convertible top is not fully opened or
closed. If the tailgate can be opened, make
sure it does not collide with the convertible top well storage cover.'xClose the convertible top when the vehicle is
parked. A closed convertible top protects it from weather-related damage and to some
extent from theft.'xEven when the convertible top is closed, only store valuables in the locked cargo area.'xAt higher speeds, vacuum produced in thecar's interior causes the convertible top to
begin to flutter. Increase the air flow via the
ventilation so that no vacuum is produced in
the vehicle.'xIt is not possible to start the engine and operj ate the convertible top simultaneously. Whenthe engine is started using the Start/Stopbutton or using the Auto Start/Stop function,
the convertible top movement is briefly interj
rupted.'xOpening a door interrupts closure of the convertible top.'xWhen loading the cargo area, make sure that
the cargo does not push against the cargo
area partition, refer to page 74, from below.'xIn order to protect the battery, move the
convertible top only when the engine is runj
ning.'xBefore closing the convertible top, remove any foreign objects from the windshieldframe; otherwise, closing may be prevented.

Incorrect operation can damage the convertible top and other parts of the vehicle.
There is a risk of damage to property. Duringoperation, heed the following points:'xKeep the area of movement of the
convertible top clear because the
convertible top swivels out upward. Maxij

ches/2.5 meters.'xFully close the tailgate.'xDo not leave the convertible top open for
more than a day while it is wet.'xDo not open the convertible top, if it is
wet, covered in snow, iced up, or dirty.'xDo not place objects on the convertible top.'xThe rollover protection system may not betriggered.'xDo not operate convertible top on unevensections of road.'xAlways open or close the convertible top
completely. The convertible top is only
locked in the final positions.
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when opening and
closing the convertible top. There is a risk of inj jury. When opening and closing the convertible
top, observe the movement and keep the area
of movement clear.
WARNING
When operating the convertible top while drivj ing, the view to the rear may be limited. At
speeds above 30 mph/50 km/h the convertible
top remains in its current position. There is a
danger of accidents and property damage.
When operating the convertible top while drivj ing, observe traffic attentively and, if necessary,
reduce speed. Do not operate while backing up or with wind.

The convertible top is not suitable for the
mounting of roof carrier systems. The roof carj rier could come loose. There is a risk of an accij
dent. Do not attach any roof carrier systems to
the convertible top.

A convertible top that is not completely open or
closed is not locked and can open by itself while driving due to the wind. There is a risk of
injury or risk of damage to property. Make sure
that the convertible top is always completely
open or closed.

'xThe ignition or radio-ready state must be

Fold down cargo area partition in the back so
that the convertible top can be opened.

Manuallyclosingtheconvertible
top
Generalinformation If there is a malfunction, the convertible top can
be manually closed. Two persons are necessary
to do this.
If possible, have a convertible top manually closed by a dealerss service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
In case of an electrical malfunction, the convertible top cannot be locked in the fully
open position. The convertible top will rise up
while the vehicle is moving. There is a risk of an
accident. Do not open the closed convertible top manually.
WARNING
While manually lowering the convertible top,
body parts can be jammed. With one-sided opj
eration, the convertible top can be damaged.
There is a risk of injury or risk of damage to
property. Make sure that the area of movement
of the convertible top and convertible top well
is free. Only close the convertible top manually with two people.

1.Pull the release in the direction of the arrow,
and remove the insert from the front. If necj
essary, when pulling the release, press

Beforeclosing
1.Switching off the ignition.2.Lower the side window and the rear window
completely.
Manually lower the rear window if it cannot be lowered electrically.3.Carefully open the tailgate, taking care not to damage the convertible top well storage
cover.4.Remove the two large lids from the trim. If
necessary, use a screwdriver to help with this.5.Unlock convertible top well storage cover. To
do this, pull on the right lid and simultanej
ously slightly raise the front right convertible
top well storage cover in front of the rear winj dow.
Proceed accordingly on the left side.6.When the convertible top is closed manually,
the tailgate can no longer be opened.Remove urgently needed items from the cargo area and close the tailgate.
Manuallyloweringrearwindow
The spindle for lowering the rear window is loj
cated in front of the rear window in the center beneath the convertible top well storage cover.
1.Have a second person slightly raise the
convertible top well storage cover, arrow 1, and hold it.2.Insert the rear window tool through the funjnel-shaped opening into the spindle, arrow 2.Turn the spindle clockwise, arrow 3, until therear window is all the way down.
Liftingoutconvertibletop
1.Switching off the ignition.2.Grasp the convertible top well storage coveron both sides, swing it up until it reaches its

3.Remove the cover in the center of the front
convertible top frame. If necessary, use a
screwdriver to help with this.4.Insert the convertible top tool into the
convertible top lock. Turn the convertible top
tool approx. one half turn clockwise to open
the convertible top lock. Be careful not to
damage the convertible top fabric. Remove the convertible top tool.5.On both sides of the vehicle, grasp the front
edge of the convertible top frame with one
hand. With the other hand, grasp the end of the convertible top on the bottom edge. Keepthe convertible top well storage cover open,
for instance with your shoulder.6.Lift out the convertible top and the
convertible top ends on both sides simultanejously and swing it forward. When you do this,
make sure that the convertible top ends do not push against other parts.7.With the cover ends placed high, close theconvertible top well storage cover.8.Fold down the two convertible top ends onthe convertible top well storage cover.
Lockingtheconvertibletop
1.Insert the cover tool on the front edge of the
convertible top frame into the convertible top
lock.2.Turn the cover tool counterclockwise until the front convertible top frame is locked withthe front windshield frame. Simultaneously,

toward the center on the front windshield
frame.3.Insert the convertible top tool with the long
end into the adapter from the onboard vehicle tool kit.4.In the rear, raise the inner lining of the
convertible top. Place the adapter on the red-
marked pin of the convertible top mechaj nism.5.Push the rear convertible top end down andsimultaneously have a second person pushthe tool all the way up to the stop.
In this way, the convertible top end is pushed
against the convertible top well storage cover
and locked.Proceed accordingly on the other end of the convertible top.6.If possible, close the rear window electrically. To do this, switch on the ignition again. The
rear window cannot be manually closed.7.Have the convertible top checked by a dealj
erss service center or another qualified servj ice center or repair shop.
Winddeflector
Concept
The wind deflector reduces the air movement in
the car's interior when driving with the
convertible top down.
Safetyinformation
NOTE
When moving the front seats back, the wind
deflector can be damaged. There is a risk of
damage to property. Make sure that the area of
movement is clear prior to moving the front
seats back.
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operating the wind deflector. There is a risk of injury. Make
sure that the area of movement around the
wind deflector is clear when installing and rej
moving it and folding it up.

Objects placed on the installed wind deflector

Installation
1.Remove wind deflector from the protective jacket and unfold it.2.Press the upper and lower parts together unjtil the latch engages.3.Push out the right retaining pin until the latch
engages and flip out the two rear retaining pins.4.Install the wind deflector on the vehicle with
the right retaining pin and the two rear ones
in the corresponding openings.5.Push the left retaining pin into the provided

6.Flip up the top half of the wind deflector.
Removing
Proceed in reverse sequence.
To release the two lateral retaining pins, pull the corresponding handle forward a little and them
pull it to the side.
Foldup
On the left side, pull the handle of the retaining
pin on the wind deflector all the way back and rej
lease the latch. Fold in top and bottom part.

Seat adjustments while driving can lead to unj
expected movements of the seat. Vehicle conj
trol could be lost. There is a risk of an accident.
Only adjust the seat on the driver's side when
the vehicle is stationary.

With a backrest inclined too far to the rear, the
efficacy of safety gear, including safety belts
can no longer be ensured. There is a risk of
sliding under the safety belt in an accident.
There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Adj just the seat prior to starting the trip. Adjust the
backrest so that it is in the most upright posij tion as possible and do not adjust again while
driving.
