Seat heating
Switchingon Press button once for each temperature
level.
The maximum temperature is reached when three LEDs are lit.
If the trip is continued within approx. 15 minutes
after a stop, seat heating is activated automatij
cally with the temperature selected last.
When ECO PRO is activated, refer to page 229,
the heater output is reduced.
Switchingoff Press and hold the button, until the
LEDs go out.
Seatheatingdistribution
The heating action in the seat cushion and the seat backrest can be distributed in different
ways.

Concept
The seat cushion and backrest surfaces are cooled by means of integrated fans.
The ventilation cools the seat, for instance if the
car's interior is overheated or for continuous
cooling at high temperatures.
Overview
Active seat ventilation

level.
The highest level is active when three LEDs are lit.
The ventilation switches back by one level after a
short time.
Switchingoff Press and hold the button, until the
LEDs go out.

The vehicle is fitted with four safety belts to enj
sure occupant safety. However, they can only ofj fer protection when adjusted correctly.

though airbags enhance safety by providing
added protection, they are not a substitute for
safety belts.
The upper shoulder strap's anchorage point will be correct for adult seat occupants of every build if the seat is correctly adjusted.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
Use of a safety belt to buckle more than one
person will potentially defeat the ability of the safety belt to serve its protective function.
There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Do
not allow more than one person to wear a sinj
gle safety belt. Infants and children are not alj
lowed on an occupant's lap, but must be transj ported and secured in designated child
restraint systems.
WARNING
The efficacy of safety gear, including safety
belts, can be limited or lost when safety belts
are fastened incorrectly. An incorrectly fastened
safety belt can cause additional injuries, for inj
stance in the event of an accident or during
braking and evasive maneuvers. There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Make sure that all
occupants are wearing safety belts correctly.
WARNING
The efficacy of safety gear, including safety belts, may not be fully functional or fail in the
following situations:
'xThe safety belts or safety belt buckles are
damaged, soiled, or changed in any other way.'xBelt tensioners or belt retractors were
modified.Safety belts can be imperceptibly damaged in
the event of an accident. There is a risk of injuj
ries or danger to life. Do not modify safety belts, safety belt buckles, belt tensioners, belt retracjtors or belt anchors and keep them clean. Have
the safety belts checked after an accident at
the dealerss service center or another qualified
service center or repair shop.
Correctuseofsafetybelts'xWear the safety belt twist-free and tight to your body over your lap and shoulders.'xWear the safety belt deep on your hips overyour lap. The safety belt may not press onyour stomach.'xDo not rub the safety belt against sharp
edges, or guide it or jam it in across hard or
fragile objects.'xAvoid thick clothing.'xRe-tighten the safety belt frequently upward around your upper body.
Bucklingthesafetybelt
1.Slowly guide the safety belt out of the holderwhen fastening it.2.Insert the tongue plate into the safety belt
buckle. The safety belt buckle must engage
audibly.
When the safety belt is buckled, the belt strap is
automatically tightened once after the vehicle
drove off.

Displayintheinstrumentcluster The indicator light lights up and a signal
sounds. Make sure that the safety belts
are positioned correctly. The safety belt
reminder can also be activated if objects are
placed on the front passenger seat.
Safetymode
In critical situations, for instance during an emerj
gency stop, the front safety belts tighten autoj matically.
If the situation passes without an accident occurj
ring, the belt tension relaxes.
If the belt tension does not loosen automatically,
stop the vehicle and unbuckle the safety belt usj ing the red button in the buckle. Fasten the
safety belt before continuing on your trip.
Frontheadrestraints
GeneralinformationThe current head restraint position can be stored
using the memory function, refer to page 87.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
A missing protective effect due to removed or
not correctly adjusted head restraints can cause injuries in the head and neck area. There
is a risk of injury.
'xBefore driving, install the removed head
restraints on the occupied seats.'xAdjust the head restraint so its center supj
ports the back of the head at as close to
eye level as possible.'xAdjust the distance so that the head rej
straint is as close as possible to the back of the head. Adjust the distance via the
backrest tilt as needed.
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when moving the
head restraint. There is a risk of injury. Make
sure that the area of movement is clear when
moving the head restraint.
WARNING
Objects on the head restraint reduce the proj tective effect in the head and neck area. There
is a risk of injury.
'xDo not use seat or head restraint covers.'xDo not hang objects, for instance clothes
hangers, directly on the head restraint.'xOnly use accessories that have been dej
termined to be safe for attachment to a head restraint.'xDo not use any accessories, for instancepillows, while driving.
Activeheadrestraint
In the event of a rear-end collision with a certain
severity, the active head restraint automatically reduces the distance from the head.
Have the active head restraint checked and if
necessary replaced in the case of damage or if it was exposed to an accident.

Adjustingtheheight
Push switch up or down.
To ensure the active head restraint function, the head restraint cannot be adjusted in height in
certain seat positions. Move the seat into a lower position for head restraint adjustment.
Adjustingdistance
'xForward: pull the head restraint toward the front.'xBack: press the button and push the head rej
straint toward the rear.
After setting the distance, move the head rej
straint forward or backward slightly, making sure it engages properly.
Adjustingthesideextensions
Fold the side extensions on the head restraint
forward for increased lateral support in the restj ing position.
Removing
The head restraints cannot be removed.
Memoryfunction
Concept
The following settings can be stored and, if necj
essary, retrieved using the memory function:
'xSeat position.'xExterior mirror position.'xSteering wheel position.

Two memory locations with different settings
can be set for each driver profile, refer to

The procedure stops when a switch for setting
the seat or one of the memory buttons is
pressed.
While driving, the seat position adjustment on the driver's side is interrupted after a short time.

The mirror on the front passenger side is more
curved than the driver's side mirror.
The mirror setting is stored for the driver profile

WARNING
Objects reflected in the mirror are closer than
they appear. The distance to the traffic behind

Concept
If reverse gear is engaged, the mirror glass on
the front passenger side is tilted downward. This
improves your view of the curb and other low-lyj
ing obstacles when parking, for instance.
Activating1. Slide the switch to the driver's side

Deactivating
Slide the switch to the passenger's sidemirror position.
Foldinginandout
NOTE
Depending on the vehicle width, the vehicle
can be damaged in vehicle washes. There is a risk of damage to property. Before washing,
fold in the mirrors by hand or with the button.

Folding is only possible up to a speed of approx.
15 mph/20 km/h.
Folding the mirrors in and out is helpful in the folj
lowing situations:
'xIn vehicle washes.'xOn narrow roads.
Mirrors that were folded in are folded out autoj matically at a speed of approx. 25 mph/40 km/h.
Automaticheating Both exterior mirrors are automatically heated
whenever the ignition is switched on.

Both exterior mirrors are automatically dimmed.
Photocells in the interior mirror are used to conj trol this.
