Press button and hold for approx. 7 sec#j
onds, then release. The LED flashes rap#j
idly.
To activate system:
The system is activated again automatically
when you drive away.
Malfunction
A Check Control message is displayed. The
system is impaired. Vehicle handling may be
altered and driving comfort may be noticeably reduced. Have the system checked.
Longperiodswhenvehicleisparked
During long periods when the vehicle is
parked, it can lower itself. This is not a mal#j
function.
DynamicDampingControl Concept
This system reduces undesirable vehicle mo#j tion when using a dynamic driving style or trav#j
eling on uneven road surfaces.
This enhances the driving dynamics and driv#j ing comfort depending on the road surface
condition and driving style.
Generalinformation
The system offers several different damping
settings.
These are assigned to the different driving
modes of the Driving Dynamics Control, refer to page 116.Driving modeDamper tuningCOMFORT PLUScomfortableSPORTfirmCOMFORT/ECO PRObalanced outExecutiveDrivePro
Concept
Executive Drive Pro is an actively controlled
chassis. The system increases driving comfort
and minimizes the lateral tilt when driving around curves.
Generalinformation
Active control uses the available information, e.g., from the navigation system, the drivingstyle analysis, and the camera-based look-ahead data. In particular in the ADAPTIVE driv#jing mode, refer to page 118, this information is
used to influence the Dynamic Damping Con#j
trol and the active roll stabilization, refer to
page 211, control. This further increases both
the agility of the vehicle as well as the lane sta#j bility.
Activerollstabilization Concept
The system reduces the lateral inclination of the vehicle that occurs during rapid driving in curves or during quick evasive maneuvers.
The lateral inclination of the vehicle is bal#j
anced out by permanent adjustment on the
front and rear axles. The vehicle is thus always
stabilized.
Agility and driving comfort are increased under
all driving conditions.
Generalinformation
The system offers several different tunings.
These are assigned to the different driving
modes of the Driving Dynamics Control, refer to page 116.Driving modeTuningCOMFORT/COMFORT PLUScomfortableSPORTfirmSeite 211DrivingcomfortControls211

ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable country provisions
must be observed.

Temperature
Concept
The automatic climate control achieves the set
temperature as quickly as possible, if needed,
by using the maximum cooling or heating ca#j
pacity, and then keeps it constant.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
Do not rapidly switch between different temperature settings.
Otherwise, the automatic cli#j
mate control will not have sufficient time to ad#j just the set temperature.
Display
Symbol is displayed permanently on the
display of the automatic climate control.
Airconditioning Concept
The air in the vehicle's interior will be cooled
and dehumidified and, depending on the tem#j
perature setting, warmed again.
The vehicle's interior can only be cooled with
the drive-ready state switched on.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED is illuminated with air condi#j
tioning switched on.
Air conditioning is switched on with the engine running.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and
side windows may fog up briefly when drive-
ready state is switched on.
The cooling function is switched on automati#j
cally with the AUTO program.
When using the automatic climate control,
condensation water develops and collects un#j
derneath the vehicle.
Maximumcooling Concept
The system is set to the lowest temperature,
optimum air flow and recirculated-air mode
with the drive-ready state switched on.
Generalinformation
The function is available with external temper#j
atures above approx. 32 #

Switchingon/offPress button.
The LED is illuminated with the AUTO
program switched on.
Air flow, air distribution and temperature are controlled automatically.
The cooling function, refer to page 213, is
switched on automatically with the AUTO pro#j gram.
At the same time, a condensation sensor con#j
trols the program so as to prevent window
condensation as much as possible.
The AUTO program is switched off automati#j
cally, when manual air distribution is set.
IntensityoftheAUTOprogram
With the AUTO program activated, the auto#j
matic intensity control can be changed.
Press the left or right side of the but#jton: decrease or increase intensity.
The selected intensity is shown on the display of the automatic climate control.
Automaticrecirculated-aircontrol AUC
Concept
The automatic recirculated-air control AUC recognizes odors or pollutants in the outside
air. The outside air supply is shut off and the interior air is recirculated.
Generalinformation
If the system is activated, a sensor detects pol#j
lutants in the outside air and controls the shut-
off automatically.
If the system is deactivated, outside air contin#j uously flows into the vehicle's interior.
With constant recirculated-air mode, the air
quality in the vehicle's interior deteriorates and the fogging of the windows increases.Switchingon/off
Press buttons.
The LED is illuminated with the sys#j
tem switched on.
If there is window condensation, switch off the
recirculated-air mode and press the button on
the driver's side to utilize the condensation
sensor. Make sure that air can flow to the
windshield.

Recirculated-airmode
Concept
You may react to unpleasant odors or pollu#j
tants in the immediate environment by tempo#j rarily suspending the supply of outside air. Thesystem then recirculates the air currentlywithin the vehicle.
Operation Press button repeatedly to select an
operating mode:
'yLED off: outside air flows in continuously.'yLED on: the supply of outside air is perma#j nently shut off.
With constant recirculated-air mode, the air
quality in the vehicle's interior deteriorates and the fogging of the windows increases.
If there is window condensation,
switch off the recirculated-air mode
and press the button on the driver's side to uti#j lize the condensation sensor. Make sure that
air can flow to the windshield.

Microfilter/activated-charcoalfilter The microfilter removes dust and pollen from
the incoming air.
The activated-charcoal filter removes gaseous pollutants from the outside air that enters the
vehicle.
This combined filter should be replaced during maintenance, refer to page 296, of the vehicle.
Ventilation Concept
The air flow directions can be individually ad#j
justed.
Adjustingtheventilation
The air flow directions can be adjusted for di#j
rect or indirect ventilation.
Directventilation The air flow is directly pointed onto the person.
The air flow heats or cools noticeably, depend#j
ing on the adjusted temperature.
IndirectventilationIf the vents are fully or partly closed, the air is
directly routed into the vehicle's interior.
Indirect ventilation can also be adjusted on the

Parked-vehicleventilation
Concept
Generalinformation The system can be switched on and off di#j
rectly or via a pre-set departure time.

external temperature. The system promptly
switches on before the selected departure
time.
Functionalrequirements'yThe vehicle is in idle state or standby state
and not in drive-ready state.'yBattery is sufficiently charged.
If parked-vehicle ventilation/heating is switched on, the vehicle battery will be dis#j
charged. Thus, limit the maximum activa#j
tion time to save the vehicle battery. The
system will be available again after engine
starting and/or a short trip.'yParked-vehicle heating: the fuel tank ca#j pacity is sufficient.
