Ambientairpackage
Concept
The Ambient Air Package can be used to clean and scent the interior air with high-quality fra#j grances.
Two different fragrances can be selected in the
vehicle. A variety of other fragrances is possi#j
ble by replacing the fragrance cartridges.
Ionization is used to clean the air from sus#j
pended particles. Together with the selected
fragrance, ionization contributes to well-being
and relaxation while driving.
Generalinformation
The following criteria can influence the per#j
ception of scents in the vehicle interior:
'yAutomatic climate control settings.'yTemperature and air humidity.'yTime of day and season.'yPhysical condition of the vehicle occu#j pants, e.g., fatigue.BMW recommends the use of genuine BMW
fragrance cartridges.
The genuine BMW fragrance cartridges are not
suitable for refilling. When a cartridge is empty, replace it with a new fragrance cartridge.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Refilled genuine BMW fragrance car#j
tridges can cause the emission of harmful sub#j stances, malfunctions, and damage to the sys#jtem. There is a risk of injury or risk of propertydamage. Do not refill genuine fragrance car#j
tridges. When a cartridge is empty, replace it
with a new fragrance cartridge.'

InteriorequipmentVehiclefeaturesandoptionsThis chapter describes all standard, country-specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable country provisions
must be observed.
UniversalIntegratedRemote
Control
Concept
The Universal Integrated Remote Control can
operate up to 3 functions of remote-controlled
systems such as garage door drives or lighting
systems.
Generalinformation
The Universal Integrated Remote Control re#j
places up to 3 different hand-held transmitters.
To operate the remote control, the buttons on
the interior mirror must be programmed with
the desired functions. The hand-held transmit#j
ter for the particular system is required in order
to program the remote control.
Before selling the vehicle, delete the stored
functions for the sake of security.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operat#j
ing remote-controlled systems, e.g., the ga#j
rage door, using the integrated universal re#j mote control. There is a risk of injury or risk of
property damage. Make sure that the area of movement of the respective system is clearduring programming and operation. Also follow
the safety instructions of the hand-held trans#j
mitter.'

Press and hold the left and right buttons onthe interior mirror simultaneously for ap#j
proximately 10 seconds until the LED
flashes green rapidly. This erases all pro#j gramming of the buttons on the interiormirror.3.Press the interior mirror button to be pro#jgrammed. The LED flashes orange.4.Hold the hand-held transmitter for the sys#jtem to be controlled approx. 1 to 3 in/2.5 to
8 cm away from the buttons of the interior
mirror. The required distance depends on the hand-held transmitter.5.Press and hold the button of the desired
function on the hand-held transmitter. The
LED on the interior mirror will begin flash#j
ing orange slowly.6.As soon as the LED flashes green more
rapidly or lights up continuously, release
the button. Green light indicates that the button on the interior mirror has been pro#jgrammed. Faster green flashing indicates
that it is a rolling code wireless system.
If the LED does not flash faster after at
least 60 seconds, change the distance be#j
tween the interior mirror and the hand-held transmitter and repeat the step. Several
more attempts at different distances may
be necessary. Wait at least 15 seconds be#j
tween attempts.
Canada: if programming with the hand- held transmitter was interrupted, hold
down the interior mirror button and repeat#j
edly press and release the hand-held
transmitter button for 2 seconds.7.To program other functions on other but#j
tons, repeat steps 3 to 5.
The systems can be controlled using the inte#j
rior mirror buttons.
Specialfeatureoftherollingcode
wirelesssystem
If you are unable to operate the system after
repeated programming, please check if the
system to be controlled features a rolling code radio system.
Read the system's owner's manual, or press the programmed button on the interior mirror longer. If the LED on the interior mirror starts
flashing rapidly and then stays lit constantly for
2 seconds, the system features a rolling code
radio system. Flashing and continuous illumi#j
nation of the LED will repeat for approximately
20 seconds.
For systems with a rolling code radio system,
the universal remote control and the system also have to be synchronized.
Please read the owner's manual to find out
how to synchronize the system.
Synchronizing is easier with the aid of a sec#j
ond person.
Synchronizing the universal remote control
with the system:1.Park the vehicle within range of the re#j mote-controlled system.2.Program the relevant button on the interior
mirror as described.3.Locate and press the synchronizing button
on the system being programmed. You
have approx. 30 seconds for the next step.4.Hold down the programmed button on the
interior mirror for approximately 3 seconds
and then release it. If necessary, repeat this step up to three times in order to finish
synchronization. Once synchronization is
complete, the programmed function will be carried out.
Reprogrammingindividualbuttons
1.Turn on standby state.2.Press the interior mirror button to be pro#jgrammed.3.As soon as the interior mirror LED starts
flashing slowly, hold the hand-held trans#j
mitter for the system to be controlled ap#j prox. 1 to 3 in/2.5 to 8 cm away from the
buttons of the interior mirror. The requiredSeite 226ControlsInteriorequipment226

distance depends on the hand-held trans#j
mitter.4.Likewise, press and hold the button of the
desired function on the hand-held trans#j mitter.5.Release both buttons as soon as the inte#j
rior mirror LED flashes more rapidly or lights up continuously. The LED flashing
more rapidly or being continuously lit up in#j dicates that the button on the interior mir#j
ror has been programmed. The system can
then be controlled by the button on the in#j
terior mirror.
If the LED does not flash faster after at
least 60 seconds, change the distance and
repeat the step. Several more attempts at different distances may be necessary. Wait
at least 15 seconds between attempts.
Canada: if programming with the hand-
held transmitter was interrupted, hold
down the interior mirror button and repeat#j
edly press and release the hand-held
transmitter button for 2 seconds.

Lighter
Safetyinformation WARNING
Contact with hot heating elements or the
hot socket of the cigarette lighter can cause burns. Flammable materials can ignite if thecigarette lighter falls down or is held againstthe respective objects. There is a risk of fireand injuries. Hold the cigarette lighter by itshandle. Make sure that children do not use thecigarette lighter and do not burn themselves,
e.g., by carrying the remote control with you
when exiting the vehicle.'

NOTE
If metal objects fall into the socket, they
can cause a short circuit. There is a risk of
property damage. Replace the cigarette lighter or socket cover again after using the socket.'

OperationPush in the lighter. The lighter can be removed as
soon as it pops back out.
Sockets Concept
The lighter socket can be used as a socket for electrical equipment when standby and drive-ready state are switched on.
Generalinformation The total load of all sockets must not exceed140 watts at 12 volts.
Do not damage the socket by using non-com#j patible connectors.
Safetyinformation NOTE
Battery chargers for the vehicle battery
can work with high voltages and currents,
which means that the 12 volt on-board net#j work can be overloaded or damaged. There is
a risk of property damage. Only connect bat#j
tery chargers for the vehicle battery to the
starting aid terminals in the engine compart#j
ment.'
