RefuelingVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable country provisions
must be observed.
Generalinformation
Observe the fuel recommendation, refer to
page 264, prior to refueling.
Safetyinformation NOTE
With a range of less than 30 miles/50 km
it is possible that the engine will no longer have sufficient fuel. Engine functions are not en#jsured anymore. There is a risk of property
damage. Refuel promptly.'

ClosingWARNING
The retaining strap of the fuel cap can be
jammed and crushed during closing. The cap cannot be correctly closed. Fuel or fuel vapors
can escape. There is a risk of injury or risk of property damage. Pay attention that the retain#jing strap is not jammed or crushed when clos#jing the lid.'

Fuelrecommendation
Generalinformation Depending on the region, many gas stations
sell fuel that has been customized to winter or
summer conditions. Fuel that is available in
winter, e.g., helps make a cold start easier.
Gasoline
Generalinformation For the best fuel efficiency, the gasolineshould be sulfur-free or very low in sulfur con#jtent.
Fuels that are marked on the gas pump as con#j taining metal must not be used.
Fuels with a maximum ethanol content of
25 %, i. e. E10 or E25, may be used for refuel#j ing.
Ethanol should satisfy the following quality
standards:
US: ASTM 4806#mxx
CAN: CGSB-3.511#mxx
xx: comply with the current standard in each
case.Safetyinformation
CAUTION
The use of poor-quality fuels may result
in harmful engine deposits or damage. Addi#j
tionally, problems relating to drivability, start#j ing and stalling, especially under certain envi#j
ronmental conditions such as high ambient
temperature and high altitude, may occur.
If drivability problems are encountered, we rec#j
ommend switching to a high quality gasoline brand and a higher octane grade #n AKI num#jber #n for a few tank fills. To avoid harmful en#j
gine deposits, it is highly recommended to
purchase gasoline from Top Tier retailers.
Failure to comply with these recommendations
may result in the need for unscheduled main#j
tenance.'

NOTE
Fuel that does not comply with the mini#j
mum quality can compromise engine function or cause engine damage. There is a risk ofproperty damage. Do not fill with fuel that doesnot comply with the minimum quality.'

Tireinflationpressure
Safetyinformation
The tire characteristics and tire inflation pres#j
sure influence the following:'yThe service life of the tires.'yRoad safety.'yDriving comfort.
Checkingthetireinflationpressure
WARNING
A tire with low or missing tire inflation
pressure impacts handling, such as steering
and braking response. There is a risk of an ac#j
cident. Regularly check the tire inflation pres#j sure, and correct it as needed, e.g., twice amonth and before a long trip.'

These pressure values can also be found onthe tire inflation pressure label on the driver's
door pillar.
Do not exceed a speed of 100 mph/160 km/h.

Temperature
The temperature grades are A, the highest, B,
and C, representing the tire's resistance to the
generation of heat and its ability to dissipate
heat when tested under controlled conditions
on a specified indoor laboratory test wheel.
Sustained high temperature can cause the ma#j
terial of the tire to degenerate and reduce tire
life, and excessive temperature can lead to
sudden tire failure. The grade C corresponds
to a level of performance which all passenger
vehicle tires must meet under the Federal Mo#j
tor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 109. Grades
Band A represent higher levels of performance
on the laboratory test wheel than the minimum
required by law.
WARNING
The temperature grade for this tire is es#j
tablished for a tire that is properly inflated and not overloaded. Excessive speed, underinfla#jtion, or excessive loading, either separately orin combination, can cause heat buildup andpossible tire failure.'
