MobilitySystem
Concept
With the Mobility System, minor tire damage can be sealed temporarily to enable continued
travel. To accomplish this, sealant is pumped
into the tires, which seals the damage from the inside.
The compressor can be used to check the tire inflation pressure.
Generalinformation
'yFollow the instructions on using the Mobi#j lity System found on the compressor and
sealant container.'yUse of the Mobility System may be ineffec#j
tive if the tire puncture measures approx.
1/8 inches/4 mm or more.'yContact a dealer#ss service center or an#j other qualified service center or repair
shop if the tire cannot be made drivable.'yIf possible, do not remove foreign bodies that have penetrated the tire.'yPull the speed limit sticker off the sealant
container and apply it to the steering
wheel.'yThe use of a sealant can damage the TPM wheel electronics. In this case, have theelectronics checked at the next opportu#jnity and have them replaced, if needed.
Storage
The Mobility System is in the left storage com#jpartment of the cargo area.

Do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.
Reinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor.
Reinitialize the Tire Pressure Monitor.
Replace the nonworking tire and the sealant
container of the Mobility System as soon as
possible.
Snowchains
Fine-linksnowchains The manufacturer of your vehicle recommendsuse of fine-link snow chains. Certain types of
fine-link snow chains have been tested by the
manufacturer of the vehicle and recommended
as road-safe and suitable.
Information regarding suitable snow chains is
available from a dealer#ss service center or an#j
other qualified service center or repair shop.
Use WARNING
With the mounting of snow chains on un#j
suitable tires, the snow chains can come into
contact with vehicle parts. There is a risk of ac#j
cidents or risk of property damage. Only mount
snow chains on tires that are designated by
their manufacturer as suitable for the use of
snow chains.'

Rearwheelsteeringduringoperation withsnowchains
Generalinformation
In order to guarantee free running of the
wheels when operating with snow chains, rear axle steering of the integral active steeringmust be switched off when snow chains aremounted.
Safetyinformation WARNING
When rear wheel steering is switched on
and snow chains are mounted, there can be contact between snow chains and the chassis. There is a risk of accidents or risk of propertydamage. With mounted snow chains, switchoff the rear wheel steering.'

OnetofouryellowwheelsA flat tire or major drop in tire inflation pressure
in the indicated tires.
Graywheels The system cannot detect a flat tire. Reasons
for this may be:'yThe system is being reset.'yMalfunction.
Statusinformation
The status control display additionally showsthe current tire inflation pressures and, de#jpending on the model, tire temperatures. Itshows the actual values read; they may varydepending on driving style or weather condi#j
tions.
Resettingthesystem Reset the system after each adjustment of the
tire inflation pressure and after every tire or wheel change.
Via iDrive and in the vehicle:
1."My Vehicle"2."Vehicle status"3."Tire Pressure Monitor"4.Switch on drive-ready state and do not
drive off.5.Reset tire inflation pressure: "Perform reset".6.Drive away.
The wheels are displayed in gray and the sta#jtus "Resetting Tire Pressure Monitor#

In these cases:1.Reduce your speed and drive moderately.
Do not exceed a speed of
80 mph/130 km/h.2.At the next opportunity, e.g., gas station,
check and correct the tire inflation pres#j
sure in all four tires, if necessary.3.Reset the system.
Messageincaseofsharptireinflation pressureloss
The yellow warning lamp lights up.
In addition, a symbol with the affected
tires will be displayed in the Check
Control message.
'yThere is a flat tire or a major loss in tire in#j
flation pressure.'yNo reset was performed for the system.
System will issue a warning related to the tire inflation pressures stored during the
last reset.
In these cases:
1.Reduce your speed and stop cautiously. Avoid sudden braking and steering maneu#jvers.2.Check whether the vehicle is fitted with
normal tires or run-flat tires.
WARNING
A damaged regular tire with low or miss#j
ing tire inflation pressure impacts handling, such as steering and braking response. Run-
flat tires can maintain limited stability. There is
a risk of an accident. Do not continue driving if the vehicle is not equipped with run-flat tires.
Follow the information on run-flat tires and
continued driving with these tires.'

Continueddrivingwithaflattire
Observe the following when continuing to drive with a damaged tire:1.Avoid sudden braking and steering maneu#jvers.2.Do not exceed a speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.3.Check the air pressure in all four tires atthe next opportunity.
If the tire inflation pressure in all four tires
is correct, the Tire Pressure Monitor may
not have been reset. In this case, perform the reset.
Possibledrivingdistancewitha
depressurizedtire
The possible driving distance with a flat tire
depends on cargo load, driving style and road
conditions.
A vehicle with an average load has a possible driving range of approx. 50 miles/80 km.
Because the possible driving distance de#j
pends on how the vehicle is used during the
trip, the actual distance may be shorter or lon#j
ger depending on the driving speed, road con#j
ditions, external temperature, cargo load, etc.
Vehiclehandlingwithdamagedtires
A vehicle with a damaged tire reacts differ#j
ently, e.g., it has reduced lane stability during
braking, a longer braking distance and different
self-steering properties. Adjust your driving
style accordingly. Avoid abrupt steering ma#j
neuvers or driving over obstacles, e.g., curbs,
potholes, etc.
Systemlimits
The system does not function properly if a re#j
set has not been carried out, e.g., a flat tire is
reported though tire inflation pressures are
correct.
The tire inflation pressure depends on the
tire's temperature. Driving or exposure to the
sun will increase the tire's temperature, thus
increasing the tire inflation pressure. The tire inflation pressure is reduced when the tire
temperature falls again. These circumstances
may cause a warning when temperatures fall
very sharply.
The system cannot indicate sudden serious
tire damage caused by external circumstances.
Malfunction The yellow warning lamp flashes and is
then illuminated continuously. A Check Control message is displayed. No flat
tire or loss of tire inflation pressure can be de#j tected.
In these cases:'yA wheel without TPM electronics, such as
an emergency wheel, is mounted: have the wheels checked, if needed.'yMalfunction: have the system checked.'yTPM was unable to complete the reset.Reset the system again.'yInterference caused by systems or devices
with the same radio frequency: After leav#j ing the area of the interference, the system
automatically becomes active again.

System
Each tire, including the spare (if provided)should be checked monthly when cold and in#jflated to the inflation pressure recommendedby the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicleplacard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your
vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation
pressure label, you should determine the
proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring
system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pres#j
sure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when
the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you
