four parts, which offer various levels of infor#j
mation or possible access.
QuickReferenceGuide
The Quick Reference Guide provides informa#j
tion on how to operate the vehicle, how to use basic vehicle functions and what to do in case
of a breakdown. This information can also be
displayed while driving.
Searchbyimages
Based on illustrations, image search provides information and descriptions. This is useful,
e.g., when the terminology for a feature is not
known.Keywordsearch
Search for information and descriptions by en#j
tering terms selected from the index.
Videos
The basic functions of selected systems are
explained in the videos.

To switch from a function, e.g., radio, to the
Owner's Manual on the Control Display and to alternate between the two displays:1. Press button.2."Owner's Manual"3.Select the desired page in the Owner's

the Owner's Manual displayed last.
To alternate permanently between the last dis#j
played function and the Owner's Manual re#j peat steps 4 & 5. Opens a new display every
time.

refer to page 28, and called up directly.

This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable country provisions
must be observed.
RemotecontrolGeneralinformation
The vehicle is supplied with two remote con#j trols with integrated key.
Each remote control contains a replaceable battery. Replacing the battery, refer to
page 58.
You may set the key functions depending on the optional features and country-specific ver#jsion. Settings, refer to page 71.
The vehicle stores personal settings for every
remote control. Driver profile, refer to
page 69.
The remote controls hold information about re#j
quired maintenance. Service data in the re#j mote control, refer to page 296.
Safetyinformation WARNING
People or animals in the vehicle can lock
the doors from the inside and lock themselves
in. The vehicle can then not be opened from the outside. There is a risk of injury. Take the
remote control with you so that the vehicle can be opened from the outside.'

Unlocking
Press button on the remote control.
Depending on the settings, refer to page 71,
the following access points are unlocked:
'yDriver's door and fuel filler flap.'yAll doors, tailgate, and fuel filler flap.
In addition, the following functions are exe#j
cuted:
'yThe settings saved in the driver profile, re#j fer to page 69, are applied.'yThe interior lights are switched on, unless
they were manually switched off. Switching
the interior lights on and off manually, refer
to page 138.'yThe welcome light, door handle lighting,
and Welcome Light Carpet are switched on. These functions must be activated in
the Settings, refer to page 135.
Press the remote control button again to switch on Welcome Light Carpet for the al#j
ready unlocked vehicle.'yThe rear sliding visor is moved into the po#j
sition, where it was prior to locking.'yWith anti-theft protection: Anti-theft pro#j
tection is switched off.'yThe alarm system, refer to page 72, is
switched off.
After opening the driver's door, the vehicle is
ready for operation, refer to page 20.
The light functions may depend on the ambi#j
ent brightness.
Convenientopening
Press and hold this button on the re#j
mote control after unlocking.
The windows and the glass sunroof are
opened, as long as the button on the remote
control is pressed.
Locking1.Close the driver's door.2. Press button on the remote control.'yAll doors and the tailgate are locked.'yThe rear sliding visor is closed.'yWith anti-theft protection: Anti-theft pro#j
tection is switched on. It prevents the
doors from being unlocked using the lock
buttons or the door opener.'yThe alarm system, refer to page 72, is
switched on.
If the vehicle horn honks twice when you lock the vehicle, this means that the drive-ready state is still switched on. In this case, the drive-
ready state must be switched off by means of
the Start/Stop button.
Switchingontheinteriorandexterior lights
Press button on the remote control with
the vehicle locked.
'yThe interior lights are switched on, unless they were manually switched off. Switching
the interior lights on and off manually, refer
to page 138.'yDoor handle lighting and Welcome Light

turned off. After locking, wait 10 seconds be#j
fore pressing the button again.
Tailgate
Generalinformation
To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place the remote control in the cargo area.
Depending on the features and the country
version, it is also possible to have the doors unlocked. Adjusting the settings, refer to
page 71.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operat#j
ing the tailgate. There is a risk of injury. Make
sure that the area of movement of the tailgate
is clear during opening and closing.'

NewremotecontrolsNew remote controls are available from a deal#j
er#ss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Blockingremotecontrols
A lost remote control can be blocked by a deal#j er#ss service center or another qualified servicecenter or repair shop.
Malfunction
Generalinformation
A Check Control message is displayed.
Remote control detection by the vehicle may
malfunction under the following circumstan#j
ces:'yThe battery of the remote control is dis#j charged. Replace the battery, refer topage 58.'yInterference of the radio connection from
transmission towers or other equipmentwith high transmitting power.'yShielding of the remote control due tometal objects.
Do not transport the remote control to#j gether with metal objects.'yInterference of the radio connection by
mobile phones or other electronic devices
in direct proximity of the remote control.
Do not transport the remote control to#j gether with electronic devices.'yInterference of radio transmission by a
charging process of a mobile device, e.g.,
charging of a mobile phone.'yThe remote control is in direct proximity of the wireless charging tray.
Place the remote control down at a differ#j
ent location.
In the case of interference, the vehicle can also
be unlocked and locked from the outside with the integrated key, refer to page 63.
Switchingthedrive-readystateonvia

control1.Hold the remote control with its back against the marked area on the steering
column.2.Switch on drive-ready state within 10 sec#j
onds.
If the remote control is not detected, slightly
change the position of the remote control and repeat the procedure.
BMWdisplaykey
Generalinformation The BMW display key is supplied with a me#j
chanical key. If the display key is used, the me#j
chanical key should be carried with you, e.g., in
the wallet.
The display key supports all functions of the standard remote control.
In addition, the following functions are also available:

system.'yWith parked-vehicle heating: operate
parked-vehicle heating.
