Safetybelts Numberofsafetybeltsandsafetybeltbuckles
The vehicle is fitted with four or five safety
belts to ensure occupants' safety. However, they can only offer protection when adjustedcorrectly.
The two outer safety belt buckles of the rear
seats are intended for the persons sitting on
the left and right.
The center safety belt buckle of the rear seats is intended for the person sitting in the middle.
Generalinformation
Always make sure that safety belts are being
worn by the occupants before driving off. The
airbags supplement the safety belts as an ad#j
ditional safety device. The airbags are not a
substitute for safety belts.
The upper shoulder strap's anchorage point
will be correct for adult seat occupants of ev#j
ery build if the seat is correctly adjusted.
Safetyinformation WARNING
If the safety belt is used to buckle more
than one person, the efficacy of safety gear, in#j cluding safety belts can no longer be ensured.
There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Do not allow more than one person to wear a sin#j
gle safety belt. Infants and children are not al#j lowed on an occupant's lap, but must be trans#jported and secured in designated childrestraint systems.'

The head restraints cannot be removed.

Exteriormirrors
Generalinformation The mirror on the front passenger side is more
curved than the driver's side mirror.
The mirror setting is stored for the driver pro#j
file currently in use. When the vehicle is un#j
locked via the remote control, the position is
automatically retrieved if the function, refer to page 77, is activated for this purpose.
The current exterior mirror position can be stored using the memory function, refer to
page 98.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Objects reflected in the mirror are closer
than they appear. The distance to the traffic
behind could be incorrectly estimated, for in#j stance while changing lanes. There is a risk of
an accident. Estimate the distance to the traffic behind by looking over your shoulder.'

Automaticheating Both exterior mirrors are automatically heated
whenever drive-ready state is switched on.

matically dimmed. Photocells in the car's inte#j rior mirror, refer to page 97, are used to con#j
trol this.

Concept
If reverse gear is engaged, the mirror glass on
the front passenger side is tilted downward.
This improves your view of the curb and other
low-lying obstacles when parking, for instance.

1. Slide the switch to the driver's side
