The different tunings are assigned to the dif#j
ferent driving modes of the Driving Dynamics
Control, refer to page 126.
Usingsnowchains
When snow chains are in use, refer to
page 302, rear wheel steering is deactivated.
Malfunction
In the event of a malfunction, the steering
wheel must be turned further, while the vehicle responds more sensitively to steering wheelmovements in the higher speed range.
The stability-enhancing intervention may bedeactivated.
Proceed cautiously and drive defensively. Have the system checked by a dealer#ss service
center or another qualified service center or re#j pair shop.

DriverassistancesystemsVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations
must be observed.
CruisecontrolConcept
Using this system, a desired speed can be ad#j justed using the buttons on the steering wheel.
The system maintains the desired speed. The system accelerates and brakes automaticallyas needed.
Generalinformation
Depending on the vehicle setting, the cruise
control characteristic can change in certain ranges. For instance, the acceleration in ECOPRO driving mode is more gentle.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from per#j
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situa#j tion. Based on the limits of the system, it can#jnot independently react to all traffic situations.
There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving
style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closely
and actively intervene where appropriate.'

Concept
Using this system, a desired speed and a dis#j
tance to a vehicle ahead can be adjusted using
the buttons on the steering wheel.
The system maintains the desired speed on clear roads. For this purpose, the vehicle ac#j
celerates or brakes automatically.
If a vehicle is driving ahead of you, the system
adjusts the speed of your vehicle so that the
set distance to the vehicle ahead is main#j
tained. The speed is adjusted as far as the
given situation allows.
Generalinformation A radar sensor is located in the front bumper
and a camera on the interior mirror to detect
vehicles driving ahead of you.
Depending on the vehicle setting, the cruise
control characteristic can change in certain ranges. For instance, the acceleration in ECOPRO driving mode is more gentle.
The distance can be adjusted in several steps.
For safety reasons, it depends on the respec#j tive speed.
If the vehicle ahead of you brakes to a halt, and
then proceeds to drive again within a brief pe#j
riod, the system is able to detect this within the given system limits.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from per#j
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situa#j tion. Based on the limits of the system, it can#jnot independently react to all traffic situations.
There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closelyand actively intervene where appropriate.'

Areaofapplication The system is best used on well-constructedroads.
The minimum speed that can be set is 20 mph/30 km/h.
The maximum adjustable speed amounts to 115 mph/180 km/h when driving with the com#jbustion engine.
The maximum adjustable speed amounts to
75 mph/120 km/h when driving with the elec#j tric motor.
The system can also be activated when sta#j

Systemlimits
Detectionrange
The detection capacity of the system and the
automatic braking capacity are limited.
Two-wheeled vehicles for instance might not
be detected.
Deceleration
The system also does not decelerate in the fol#j
lowing situations:
'yFor pedestrians or similarly slow-moving
road users.'yFor red traffic lights.'yFor cross traffic.'yFor oncoming traffic.Swervingvehicles
A vehicle driving in front of you is not detected until it is completely within the same lane as
your vehicle.
If a vehicle driving ahead of you suddenly
swerves into your lane, the system may not be able to automatically restore the selected dis#j
tance. It may not be possible to restore the se#j
lected distance in certain situations, including if you are driving significantly faster than vehi#jcles driving ahead of you, for instance when
rapidly approaching a truck. When a vehicle
driving ahead of you is reliably detected, the
system requests that the driver intervene by
braking and carrying out evasive maneuvers, if
needed.
Cornering
If the desired speed is too high for a curve, the
speed is reduced slightly, although curves can#j not be anticipated in advance. Therefore, drive
into a curve at an appropriate speed.
The system has a limited detection range. Sit#j uations can arise in tight curves where a vehi#j
