Turningradiuslines
Turning radius lines can only be superimposed
on the rearview camera image together with pathway lines.
Turning radius lines show the course of the
smallest possible turning radius on a level road.
Only one turning radius line is displayed after
the steering wheel is turned past a certain anj
gle.
Obstaclemarking
Obstacles behind the vehicle are detected, ifthe vehicle is equipped accordingly, by thePDC sensors and the rearview camera.
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, obstacle
markings can be faded into the image of the rearview camera.

Detectionofobjects
Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding objects such as ledges may not be detected by
the system.
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, certain assistance functions also take into account
data from the PDC.
Follow instructions in the PDC chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display
may be closer than they appear. Do not estij
mate the distance from the objects on the disj
play.
Parkingassistant Concept
This system assists the driver in parking paraljlel to the road.
Generalinformation
Parking assistant handling is divided into three
steps:
'ySwitching on and activating.'yParking space search.'yParking.
Ultrasound sensors measure parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle.
The parking assistant calculates the best posj
sible parking line and during the parking procej
dure takes control of steering, the acceleration and braking, and if needed, changes the gears.
Press and hold the park assistance button forthe duration of the parking procedure.
System status and instructions on required acj
tions are displayed on the Control Display.
The parking assistant uses the sensors of PDC
Park Distance Control.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not release from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess the
traffic situation. Based on the limits of the sysj tem, it cannot independently react to all trafficsituations. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust
the driving style to the traffic conditions. Watch
traffic closely and actively intervene in the rej
spective situations.'

ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country- specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations
must be observed.Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved
by an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a climate-control system for regulatingtemperature, air flow, and recirculated-airmode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, automaticclimate control with automatic recirculated-air
control AUC, and parked-car ventilation.

Switchingoff
Press and hold the left button until the
control switches off.
Temperature
Concept
The system heats or cools, depending on the
set temperature.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
To reduce the energy consumpj
tion, the cooling or heating outj
put is reduced or deactivated as
per ECO-PRO mode, refer to page 169.
Airconditioning
Concept
The air in the car's interior will be cooled and dehumidified and, depending on the temperaj
ture setting, warmed again.
Cooling of the car's interior with the A/C button
is only possible with drive-ready state
switched on.
Switchingon/off
Press button.
Air conditioning is switched on or off.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and
side windows may fog up briefly when drive-
ready state is activated.
The air conditioner produces condensation water, refer to page 165, that will exit from bej
low the vehicle.
Recirculated-airmode
Concept
You may react to unpleasant odors or polluj tants in the immediate environment by tempojrarily suspending the supply of outside air. The
system then recirculates the air flow within the
vehicle.
Operation Press button repeatedly to select an
operating mode:'yLED off: outside air flows in continuously.'yLED on, recirculated-air mode: the supply
of outside air into the vehicle is permaj
nently blocked.
To prevent window fogging, recirculated-air
mode switches off automatically after a certain amount of time, depending on the environj
mental conditions.
With constant recirculated-air mode, the air
quality in the car's interior deteriorates and the
fogging of the windows increases.
If the windows fog over, switch off recircuj
lated-air mode and increase the air flow, if
needed.

condensation
Concept
Ice and condensation are quickly removed from the windshield and the front side winjdows.
Switchingon/off Press button.
The LED is illuminated with the sysj
tem switched on.
The air flow can be adjusted with the air flow
active.
If the windows are fogged over, you can also switch on the air conditioning to dehumidify
the air.
Rearwindowdefroster Press button. The LED lights up.The rear window defroster switches
off automatically after a certain period of time.
Microfilter
