The iDrive combines the functions of many switches. These functions can be operated via
the Controller.
Controller
General information
The buttons can be used to open the menus dij
rectly. The Controller can be used to select
menu items and enter the settings.

Releasing With drive-ready state switched on:
Press the switch while pressing on the
brake pedal.
The LED and indicator light go out.
The parking brake is released.

guidance is started to the town/city center.
Connecting a mobile phone After the mobile phone is connected once to the
vehicle, the mobile phone can be operated using
iDrive, the steering wheel buttons and spoken inj
structions.

The Bluetooth name of the vehicle is disj

on the mobile phone display. Select the Bluej tooth name of the vehicle.7.Depending on the mobile device, a control

Charging and refueling thevehicle
Charging the vehicle
Connecting the charging cable To connect, engage selector lever position P,
deactivate drive-ready state, and unlock the vehij cle. Set the parking brake, if needed.
1.Tap on the charging socket flap, arrow.2.Remove the charging socket lid, arrow.3.Remove cover of the charging cable plug, ifneeded.4.Connect Level 1 charging cable to the
household socket or Level 2 charging cable to the port on the charging station.5.Insert the charging cable plug corresponding
to the charging socket, and push it in until it
engages.
Removing
When the charging process is active and the vej
hicle is locked, the charging cable is locked. Unj lock the vehicle before removing the cable.
When the charging process is completed, the
charging cable is automatically unlocked.
If necessary, clean the area between charging socket flap and charging socket, for instancefrom snow, before removing it.1.Unlock the vehicle by remote control if it is
locked.
Charging cable is unlocked.2.Press the release button on the handle, arj row 1, and grasp the charging cable at the
gripping areas.
Charging process is interrupted.3.Remove the charging cable from the chargj
ing socket, arrow 2.4.Put the charging socket lid back on.5.Close the charging socket flap.6.Attach cover of the charging cable plug, if
needed.7.Disconnect Level 1 charging cable from the
household socket or Level 2 charging cable from the port on the charging station as
needed.8.Stow the charging cable.
At a charging station, insert the permanently installed charging cable in the place provided
for it.
Always keep charging socket clean and unj
obstructed.
Keep the charging socket flap closed when

RefuelingTank venting
In the fuel tank, excess pressure can build up due to gasoline vapors which are dissipated bej
fore the fuel cap is opened.
The button is located on the driver's floor area.1.Switch off drive-ready state.2.
Press button to start the pressure
equalization.
The status of the tank venting is displayed in
the instrument cluster. In rare cases, the tank venting can last several minutes.
If the tank venting has been completed, a
message is displayed in the instrument clusj ter. The fuel cap is released for opening.
3.Open the fuel filler flap.
If the fuel filler flap is not opened within
10 minutes after the fuel cap is released, the
fuel filler flap relocks. Press button again.
Fuel cap
1.Press the rear edge of the fuel filler flap to open it.2.Turn the fuel cap counterclockwise.3.Place the fuel cap in the bracket attached to
the fuel filler flap.
Gasoline
For the best fuel efficiency, the gasoline shouldbe sulfur-free or very low in sulfur content.
Refuel only with unleaded gasoline without metj allic additives.
Information on the recommended fuel grade can
be found in the Owner's Manual.
Wheels and tires
Tire inflation pressure specifications
The pressure values for tire sizes approved by
the manufacturer of the vehicle for the vehicle
type are on the driver's side on the rear door.
After correcting the tire inflation pressureReinitialize the Flat Tire Monitor.
Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor.
Checking the tire inflation pressure Regularly check the tire inflation pressure and
correct it as needed:
'xAt least twice a month.'xBefore embarking on an extended trip.
Check engine oil level with dipstick
1.Park the vehicle in a level and safe place with the Range Extender at operating temperaj
ture.2.Switch the engine off.3.Remove the cargo floor panel.4.Turn the lid counterclockwise and remove.5.After approx. 5, minutes, remove the dip stick and wipe with a lint-free cloth, paper towel or
similar.6.Carefully insert the dipstick up to the stop in
the measuring tube, and pull it back out.
