Remotecontrol
Generalinformation The vehicle is supplied with two remote controlswith integrated key.
Each remote control contains a replaceable batj tery. Replacing the battery, refer to page 70.
You may set the button functions, depending on
the vehicle equipment and country version. Setj tings, refer to page 78.
The vehicle stores personal settings for every rej
mote control. Driver profile, refer to page 76.
The remote controls hold information about rej
quired maintenance. Service data in the remote
control, refer to page 236.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
People or animals in the vehicle can lock the
doors from the inside and lock themselves in. In
this case, the vehicle cannot be opened from
the outside. There is a risk of injury. Take the remote control with you so that the vehicle can
be opened from the outside.
WARNING
Unlocking from the inside is only possible with special knowledge.
Persons who spend a lengthy time in the vehij
cle while being exposed to extreme temperaj tures are at risk of injury or death. Do not lock
the vehicle from the outside when there are
people in it.
WARNING
Unattended children or animals can cause the vehicle to move and endanger themselves and
traffic, for instance due to the following actions:
'xPressing the Start/Stop button.'xReleasing the parking brake.'xOpening and closing the doors or winj
dows.'xEngaging selector lever position N.'xUsing vehicle equipment.
There is a risk of accidents or injuries. Do not
leave children or animals unattended in the vej hicle. Take the remote control with you whenexiting and lock the vehicle.

UnlockingPress button on the remote control.
Depending on the settings, refer to page 78,
the following access points are unlocked:
'xDriver's door and fuel filler flap.
Press the button of the remote control again to unlock the other vehicle access points.'xAll doors, tailgate, and fuel filler flap.
In addition, the following functions are executed:
'xUnlocking is confirmed by the turn signalsand the horn. This function must be activated
in the settings, refer to page 78.'xThe settings stored in the driver profile, refer
to page 76, are applied.'xThe driver's seat is set to the last position
saved in the driver's profile. This function must be activated in the settings, refer topage 78.'xThe interior lights, refer to page 136, are
switched on, unless they were manually
switched off.'xDepending on the settings, the welcome light
and headlight courtesy delay feature, refer to
page 133, are switched on.'xThe alarm system, refer to page 79, is
switched off.
The light functions may depend on the ambient
brightness.
Convenientopening Press and hold this button on the rej
mote control after unlocking.
Pressing and holding the button on the remote
control opens the windows and the glass sunj roof.
Locking1.Close the driver's door.2. Press button on the remote control.
The following functions are executed:
'xAll doors, the tailgate, and the fuel filler flapare being locked.'xLocking is confirmed by the turn signals and
the horn. This function must be activated in the settings, refer to page 78.'xThe alarm system, refer to page 79, is
switched on.
If the engine or ignition is still switched on when
you lock the vehicle, the vehicle horn honks twice. In this case, the engine or ignition must beswitched off by means of the Start/Stop button.
Switchingoninteriorlightsand
courtesylight
Press button on the remote control with
the vehicle locked.
This function is not available, if the interior lights
were switched off manually.
The light functions may depend on the ambient
brightness.
After locking, wait 10 seconds before pressing the button again.
Tailgate Generalinformation To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place theremote control in the cargo area.
Depending on the vehicle equipment and counj
try version, it is possible to specify whether the doors are also unlocked when unlocking with theremote control. Adjusting the settings, refer to
page 78.
The tailgate can only be opened if it is not
locked. Separately lock the tailgate, refer to page 76.

Opening
Press button on the remote control forapprox. 1 second.
Panicmode You can trigger the alarm system if you find yourjself in a dangerous situation.
'xPress button on the remote control
and hold for at least 3 seconds.'xBriefly press the button on the remote control three times in succession.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.
Replacingthebattery
1.Remove the integrated key from the remote
control, refer to page 72.2.Place the integrated key underneath the batj
tery compartment cover, arrow 1, and lift thecover with a lever movement of the
integrated key, arrow 2.3.Push battery in the direction of the arrow usj
ing a pointed object and lift it out.4.Insert a type CR 2450 battery with the posij tive side facing up.5.Press the cover closed.6.Push the integrated key into the remote conj
trol until it engages.
Have old batteries disposed of by a dealj
erss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop or take
them to a collection point.
