DrivingstabilitycontrolsystemsVehiclefeaturesandoptionsThis chapter describes all standard, country-specific and optional features offered with theseries. It also describes features that are notnecessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due
to the selected options or country versions.
This also applies to safety-related functions
and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations
must be observed.
Anti-lockBrakingSystem
ABS
ABS prevents locking of the wheels during
braking.
The vehicle maintains its steering power even during full brake applications, thus increasing
active safety.
ABS is operational every time you start the enj gine.
Brakeassistant When you apply the brakes rapidly, this systemautomatically produces the greatest possible
braking force boost. It reduces the braking disj
tance to a minimum during emergency stop.
This system utilizes all of the benefits provided
by ABS.
Do not reduce the pressure on the brake pedal
for the duration of the emergency stop.
MDrive Concept
Individual settings can be carried out in two
preassigned configurations for the vehicle. When the engine is started, an efficient vehicle
state is active by default. M Drive is deactij vated.
Generalinformation
Configurations The configurations are preassigned as follows:'y"M Drive 1": relaxed, comfortable driving.'y"M Drive 2": sporty, dynamic driving.

DSCDynamicStability
Control
Concept
Within the physical limits, the system helps to keep the vehicle on a steady course by reducjing engine speed and by applying brakes tothe individual wheels.
Generalinformation Dynamic Stability Control detects, e.g., the folj
lowing unstable driving conditions:
'yFishtailing, which can lead to oversteering.'yLoss of traction of the front wheels, which
can lead to understeering.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
The system does not release from the
personal responsibility to correctly assess the
traffic situation. Based on the limits of the sysj tem, it cannot independently react to all traffic

forces and brake forces.
Indicator lights light up:
M Dynamic Mode or DSC has failed.
ActiveMdifferential Theconcept
The active M differential assures continuously
variable locking of the rear axle differential dej pending on the driving situation. This preventsindividual rear wheels from spinning even
when DSC is switched off and in M Dynamic Mode, so that optimum traction is always asjsured in all driving situations.
The driver is responsible adapting his or her
driving behavior to the situation.
AdaptiveMchassisConcept
This system reduces undesirable vehicle moj tion when using a dynamic driving style or travj eling on uneven road surfaces.
This enhances the driving dynamics and drivj
ing comfort depending on the road surface condition and driving style.

brake.2.Release the foot brake and drive off withj
out delay.
After the foot brake is released, the vehicle is held in place for approx. 2 seconds.
Depending on the vehicle load, the vehicle may roll back slightly.
Servotronic
Concept
The Servotronic varies the steering force rej quired to turn the wheels in accordance withthe vehicle speed. At low speeds, the steeringforce is strongly supported, i. e. during steerj
ing, low force is required. As the speed inj creases, the assistance of the steering force is
reduced.
Furthermore, the steering force adapts accordj ing to the driving program, so that a direct, sporty feel and/or comfortable steering is conjveyed.
