compartment1.Use the onboard vehicle tool kit to loosen
the three cover screws, arrow 1.2.Pull up the holder, arrow 2.3.Remove the cover from one side, arrow 3.4.Press the four fasteners and remove the
cover.
Attaching
the
covers
1.When attaching the cover, make sure that all four fasteners are engaged.2.Attach the cover under the rubber lip and
then thread it between the bars.3.Press down on the holder and tighten the
three screws.In

The button is located in the center console.
The red lamp in the button flashes with the
hazard warning flashers switched on.
Intelligent
emergency
call
Concept
In case of an emergency, an Emergency Rej
quest can be made through the system.
General
information Only press the SOS button in an emergency.
For technical reasons, the Emergency Request cannot be guaranteed under unfavorable conj
ditions.

'yThe SIM card integrated in the vehicle hasbeen activated.'yThe radio-ready state is switched on.'yThe Assist system is functional.
Initiating
an
Emergency
Request
1.Press the cover briefly to open it.2.Press the SOS button until the LED at thebutton lights up green.'yThe LED illuminates green when the Emerj
gency Request has been initiated.
If a cancel prompt appears on the Control
Display, the Emergency Request can be
aborted.
If the situation allows, wait in your vehicle
until the voice connection has been estabj
lished.'yThe LED flashes green when a connection to the BMW Response Center has been
established.
When the Emergency Request is received
at the BMW Response Center, the BMW
Response Center contacts you and takes

Even if you are unable to respond, the
BMW Response Center can take further steps to help you under certain circumj
stances.
For this, data is transmitted to the BMW

be heard at the BMW Response Center.
Initiating

Under certain conditions, an Emergency Rej
quest is automatically initiated immediately afj ter a severe accident. Automatic Collision Notij
fication is not affected by pressing the SOS
button.

The warning triangle is located on the inside of the tailgate.
To remove, loosen the bracket.

Check the expiration dates of the contents regularly and replace any expired items
promptly.

The first-aid kit is located in the cargo area in a storage compartment.

engine
Never use spray fluids to start the engine.

and let it run for several minutes at an inj creased idle speed.2.Start the engine of the vehicle that is to bestarted in the usual way.

ful, wait a few minutes before making anj
other attempt in order to allow the disj
charged battery to recharge.3.Let both engines run for several minutes.4.Disconnect the jumper cables in the rej verse order.
Check the battery and recharge, if needed.
Tow-starting

towing Safety

Due to system limits, individual functions
can malfunction during tow-starting/towing with the Intelligent Safety systems activated,
e.g., approach control warning with light brakj
ing function. There is a risk of an accident.

tow-starting/towing.'

Tow
fitting
General
information
The screw-in tow fitting should always be carj
ried in the vehicle.
The tow fitting can be screwed in at the front
or rear of the vehicle.
The tow fitting and the onboard vehicle tool kit, refer to page 203, are together in the cargo
area.
Use of the tow fitting:
'yUse only the tow fitting provided with the
vehicle and screw it all the way in.'yUse the tow fitting for towing on paved
roads only.'yUse tow fitting located in the front only for
positioning the vehicle.'yAvoid lateral loading of the tow fitting, e.g., do not lift the vehicle by the tow fitting.

If the tow fitting is not used as intended,
there can be damage to the vehicle or to the

Regularly remove foreign objects such as leaves in the area below the windshield when
the hood is raised.
Wash your vehicle frequently, particularly in
winter. Intense soiling and road salt can damj age the vehicle.

high-pressure
washer

When cleaning with high-pressure washj
ers, components can be damaged due to the
pressure or temperatures being too high.
There is a risk of property damage. Maintain
sufficient distance and do not spray too long
continuously. Follow the operating instructions for the high-pressure washer.'

for vehicles with matte finish. These are availaj ble from a dealerss service center or anotherqualified service center or repair shop.
Leather
care
Remove dust from the leather often, using a
cloth or vacuum cleaner.
Otherwise, particles of dust and road grime
chafe in pores and folds, and lead to increased wear and premature degradation of the leathersurface.
To guard against discoloration, such as from
clothing, clean leather and provide leather care
roughly every two months.
Clean light-colored leather more frequently bej
cause soiling on such surfaces is substantially
more visible.
Use leather care products; otherwise, dirt and grease will gradually break down the protective
layer of the leather surface.
Suitable care products are available from a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Upholstery
material
care
General
information Vacuum regularly with a vacuum cleaner.
If upholstery is very dirty, e.g., with beverage stains, use a soft sponge or microfiber clothwith a suitable interior cleaner.Clean the upholstery down to the seams using
large sweeping motions. Avoid rubbing the
material vigorously.

Open Velcron fasteners on articles of
clothing can damage the seat covers. There is
a risk of property damage. Ensure that any Velj
cron fasteners are closed.'
