Press the button on tailgate's exterior.'yPress button on the remote conj
trol for approx. 1 second.
If the vehicle is stationary, the tailgate opens
automatically to the adjusted opening height.
Fromtheinside With Steptronic transmission:
Pull button in the storage compartj
ment of the driver's door upward.
If the vehicle is locked, selector lever position
P must be engaged first.
With manual transmission:
With the vehicle stationary, pull the
button in the storage compartment of the drivj
er's door upward twice in quick succession.
If the vehicle is stationary, the tailgate opens
automatically to the adjusted opening height.
Cancelingtheopeningoperation
The opening procedure is interrupted in the following situations:
'yWhen starting the engine.'yWhen the vehicle starts moving.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of
the tailgate.'yBy pressing the button on the inside of the tailgate.'yBy pressing the button on the remote conj
trol.'yBy pressing or pulling the button in the
storage compartment.
Closing
Fromtheoutside
Press the button on tailgate's exterior.
Fromtheinside Press button in the storage compartment
of the driver's door and keep it pressed.
The remote control must be located in the inj terior for this function.
Frominsidethetailgate
Without Comfort Access:
Press button on the inside of the tailgate.
With Comfort Access:

The vehicle will be locked after closing the
tailgate. The driver's door must be closed
for this purpose and the remote control
must be outside of the vehicle in the area
of the tailgate.
Cancelingtheclosingoperation
The closing procedure is interrupted in the folj
lowing situations:
'yWhen starting the engine.'yIf the vehicle starts off with a jerky movej
ment.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of
the tailgate.'yBy pressing the button on the inside of the tailgate.'yBy releasing the button in the storagecompartment of the driver's door.
Malfunction

With manual operation of a blocked tailj
gate, it can release itself unexpectedly from the blockage. There is a risk of injury or risk ofproperty damage. Do not operate the tailgatemanually if it is blocked. Have it checked by a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.'

Profilemanagement
Openingprofiles Regardless of the remote control in use, a difjferent profile may be activated. This allows youto call up personal vehicle settings if you did
not unlock the vehicle with your own remote control.
Using iDrive:1."Settings"2."Profiles"3.Select a profile.'yAll settings stored in the called-up profileare automatically applied.'yThe called-up profile is assigned to the rejmote control being used at the time.'yIf the profile is already assigned to a differjent remote control, this profile will apply toboth remote controls.
Usingaguestprofile
The guest profile is for individual settings thatare stored in none of the three personal proj
files.
This can be useful for drivers who are using
the vehicle temporarily and do not have their
own profile.
Using iDrive:

The guest profile cannot be renamed. It is not assigned to the current remote control.
Renamingprofiles A personal name can be assigned to every projfile to avoid confusion between the profiles.

Resetprofiles
The settings of the active profile are reset to
their factory settings.

This can be helpful for saving and retrieving

Profiles exported via BMW Online can also be imported via BMW Online.

Access and has multiple remote controls with him or her.'yThe driver changes, but the vehicle is notlocked and unlocked.'yMultiple remote controls are located outjside of the vehicle.

When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarm system reacts to the following changes:
'yUnauthorized opening of a door, the hood
or the tailgate.'yMovements in the interior.'yChanges in the vehicle tilt, e. g., during atj tempts at stealing a wheel or when towing
the vehicle.'yDisconnected battery voltage.'yImproper use of the socket for Onboard Dij
agnosis.
The alarm system signals these changes visuj

Switchingonandoff
When you lock and unlock the vehicle with the
remote control or with Comfort Access, the alarm system is switched on and off at thesame time.
Openingthedoorswiththealarmsystemswitchedon
The alarm system is triggered when a door is
opened if the door was unlocked using the inj
tegrated key in the door lock.
Switching off the alarm, refer to page 49.
Openingthetailgatewiththealarm
systemswitchedon
The tailgate can be opened even when the
alarm system is switched on.
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and
monitored again provided the doors are locked. The hazard warning system flashes
once.
Panicmode You can trigger the alarm system if you findyourself in a dangerous situation.
Press button on the remote control for
at least 3 seconds.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.
Indicatorlightontheinteriormirror'yThe indicator light flashes briefly every 2 seconds:
The alarm system is switched on.'yIndicator light flashes for approx. 10 secj onds, then it flashes briefly every 2 secj
onds:
Interior motion sensor and tilt alarm sensor
are not active, as doors, hood, or tailgate are not correctly closed. Correctly closedaccess points are secured.
When the still open access points are
closed, interior motion sensor and tilt alarm
sensor will be switched on.'yThe indicator light goes out after unlockj
ing:
The vehicle has not been tampered with.'yThe indicator light flashes after unlocking until the engine ignition is switched on, butno longer than approx. 5 minutes:
An alarm has been triggered.
Tiltalarmsensor The tilt of the vehicle is monitored.
The alarm system responds in situations such
as attempts to steal a wheel or when the vehij
cle is towed.
Interiormotionsensor
The windows and the glass sunroof must be
closed for the system to function properly.
Avoidingunintentionalalarms
Generalinformation
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor can trigger an alarm, although no unauthorj ized action occurred.
Possible situations for an unwanted alarm:
'yIn automatic vehicle washes.'yIn duplex garages.'yDuring transport on trains carrying vehij
cles, at sea or on a trailer.'yWith animals in the vehicle.
The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion sensor can be switched off in such situations.

If you are carrying the remote control on
your person, grasp the door handle on the driver's or front passenger door comj

Powerwindows
Generalinformation If an accident of a certain severity occurs, thewindows are automatically closed except a
gap.
Safetyinformation WARNING
When operating the windows, body parts
and objects can be jammed. There is a risk of
injury or risk of property damage. Make sure
that the area of movement of the windows is
clear during opening and closing.'

Closing'y Pull the switch to the resistance
point.
The window closes while the switch is bej
ing held.'y Pull the switch beyond the resistance
point.
The window closes automatically. Pulling again stops the motion.
Closing by means of Comfort Access, refer topage 39.
Pinchprotectionsystem
Generalinformation
If closing force exceeds a specific threshold as
a window closes, closing is interrupted.
The window opens slightly.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Accessories on the windows such as anj
tennas can impact jam protection. There is a risk of injury. Do not install accessories in the
area of movement of the windows.'
