Pathwaylines
Pathway lines can be superimposed on the imj
age of the rearview camera.
Pathway lines help you to estimate the space rej
quired when parking and maneuvering on level
roads.
Pathway lines depend on the current steering angle and are continuously adjusted to the steerjing wheel movements.
Turningradiuslines
Turning radius lines can only be superimposed on the rearview camera image together with
pathway lines.
Turning radius lines show the course of the smallest possible turning radius on a level road.
Only one turning radius line is displayed after the
steering wheel is turned past a certain angle.
Obstaclemarking
Depending on the vehicle equipment, obstacle
markings can be faded into the image of the
rearview camera.
The colored thresholds of the obstacle markings
match the markings of the PDC Park Distance
Control.

Detectionofobjects Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding
objects such as ledges may not be detected by the system.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, some asj
sistance functions also consider data from the PDC Park Distance Control.
Follow the notes in the PDC Park Distance Conj
trol chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display may be closer than they appear. Do not estimate
the distance from the objects on the display.
Parkingassistant
Concept
This system assists the driver in parking parallel
to the road.
Generalinformation
Parking assistant handling is divided into three
steps:
'xSwitching on and activating.'xParking space search.'xParking.
System status and instructions on required acj
tions are displayed on the Control Display.
Ultrasound sensors measure parking spaces on
both sides of the vehicle.
The parking assistant calculates the best possij
ble parking line and takes control of steering durj
ing the parking procedure.
The parking assistant uses the sensors of PDC
Park Distance Control. Also follow the safety inj
formation for PDC Park Distance Control.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
The system cannot serve as a substitute for the
driverss personal judgment in assessing the
traffic situation. Based on the limits of the sysj
tem, it cannot independently react to all traffic situations. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust
driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic

closely and actively intervene where approprij
ate.
NOTICE
The parking assistant can steer the vehicle over or onto curbs. There is a risk of damage to property. Watch traffic closely and actively inj
tervene where appropriate.
Also follow the safety information for PDC Park
Distance Control.

ClimatecontrolVehiclefeaturesandoptions
This chapter describes all standard, country-spejcific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features that are not necessarilyavailable in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selectedoptions or country versions. This also applies to
safety-related functions and systems. When usj
ing these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.
Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved by
an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a
climate-control system for regulating temperaj
ture, air flow, and recirculated-air mode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for instance
microfilter/activated-charcoal filter, automatic clij
mate control with automatic recirculated-air conj
trol AUC, and parked-car ventilation.Airconditioner

Switchingoff
Press and hold the left button until thecontrol switches off.
Temperature
Concept
The system heats or cools, depending on the set
temperature.
Settings Turn the ring to set the desired
temperature.
Do not rapidly switch between different temperaj
ture settings. Otherwise, the automatic climate control will not have sufficient time to adjust the
set temperature.
Airconditioning
Concept
The air in the car's interior will be cooled and dej humidified and, depending on the temperaturesetting, warmed again.
The car's interior can only be cooled with the enj
gine running.
Switchingon/off
Press button.
The LED is illuminated with air condij
tioning switched on.
Depending on the weather, the windshield and
side windows may fog up briefly when the enj gine is started.
The air conditioner produces condensation waj
ter, refer to page 227, that will exit from below
the vehicle.
Recirculated-airmode Concept
You may react to unpleasant odors or pollutants
in the immediate environment by temporarily suspending the supply of outside air. The systemthen recirculates the air flow within the vehicle.
Operation Press button repeatedly to select an opj
erating mode:'xLED off: outside air flows in continuously.'xLED on, recirculated-air mode: the supply of
outside air into the vehicle is permanently
blocked.
To prevent window fogging, recirculated-air
mode switches off automatically after a certain amount of time, depending on the environmental
conditions.
With constant recirculated-air mode, the air qualj ity in the car's interior deteriorates and the fogj
ging of the windows increases.
If the windows fog over, switch off recirculated-
air mode and increase the air flow, if needed.
