Activeseatventilation
Concept
The seat cushion and backrest surfaces are cooled by means of integrated fans.
The ventilation cools the seat, for instance if the car's interior is overheated or for continujous cooling at high temperatures.
Overview
Active seat ventilation
Switchingon Press button once for each ventilation
level.
Highest level if three bars are shown on the clij mate control display.
The ventilation switches back by one level afj ter a short time.
Switchingoff Press button and hold until bar display
on the climate control display goes
out.
Individualactivation
Concept
A number of heating and cooling functions can be automatically activated depending on the
external temperature.
Generalinformation
The external temperature at which the funcj tions are to be automatically activated can be
set via iDrive.
Depending on the equipment package, the folj lowing functions can be automatically actij
vated:

If the trip is continued within approx. 15 mij
nutes after a stop, the functions are activated automatically with the levels that were last sejlected.

is buckled.'yThe external temperature exceeds or falls below the set external temperature in thefirst 2 minutes after drive-ready state has

safety information of the child restraint system manufacturer when selecting, installing and
using child restraint systems.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The protective effect of damaged child
restraint systems or of child restraint systems exposed to an accident and their fasteningsystems can be limited or lost. A child can
e.g.,not sufficiently restrained, for instance in the event of an accident or braking and evasivemaneuvers. There is a risk of injuries or danger
to life. Have damaged child restraint systems
or of child restraint systems exposed to an acj
cident and their fastening systems checked
and possibly replaced by the dealerss service
center or another qualified service center or rej pair shop.'

Childseatsecurity
The safety belts in the rear and the front pasjsenger safety belt can be permanently locked
to fasten child restraint systems.
Lockingthesafetybelt
1.Pull out the belt strap completely.2.Secure the child restraint system with the
safety belt.3.Allow the belt strap to be pulled in and pull it tight against the child restraint system.
The safety belt is locked.
Unlockingthesafetybelt
1.Unbuckle the safety belt buckle.2.Remove the child restraint system.3.Allow the belt strap to be pulled in comj
pletely.

system

dren.
Pay attention to the information, operating and
safety information of the child restraint system manufacturer when selecting, installing and
using LATCH child restraint fixing systems.

Generalinformation
The lower anchors may be used to attach the
CRS to the vehicle seat up to a combined child and CRS weight of 65 lb/30 kg when the child
is restrained by the internal harnesses.
Safetyinformation WARNING
If the LATCH child restraint fixing sysj
tems are not correctly engaged, the protective
effect of the LATCH child restraint fixing sysj
tem can be limited. There is a risk of injuries or
danger to life. Make sure that the lower anj
chors are securely engaged and that the
LATCH child restraint fixing system fits sej
curely against the backrest.'

Start/StopbuttonConcept Pressing the Start/Stop button
switches drive-ready state on or off, refer to page 21.
Steptronic transmission: the drive-ready state is switched on
when you depress the brake pedal while pressj ing the Start/Stop button.
Pressing the Start/Stop button again switches
drive-ready state back off and standby state, refer to page 21, is switched back on.
Drive-readystate Safetyinformation DANGER
If the exhaust pipe is blocked or ventilaj
tion is insufficient, harmful exhaust gases can
enter into the vehicle. The exhaust gases conj tain pollutants which are colorless and odorj
less. In enclosed areas, exhaust gases can also
accumulate outside of the vehicle. There is
danger to life. Keep the exhaust pipe free and
ensure sufficient ventilation.'

AutoStart/Stopfunction
Concept
The Auto Start/Stop function helps save fuel. The system switches off the engine during a
stop, for instance in traffic congestion or at
traffic lights. Drive-ready state remains
switched on. The engine starts automatically
for driving off.
Generalinformation After each engine start using the Start/Stop
button, the Auto Start/Stop function is ready.
The function is activated from speeds of apj
prox. 3 mph/5 km/h.
Depending on the selected driving mode, refer
to page 115, the system is automatically actij
vated or deactivated.

The engine is switched off automatically durj

If the engine was not switched off automatij
cally when the vehicle stopped, the engine can be switched off manually:
'yPress the brake pedal forcefully again from
the current pedal position.'yEngage selector lever position P.
If all functional preconditions are fulfilled, the
engine switches off.
Airconditionerwhentheengineisswitchedoff
The air flow from the air conditioner is reducedwhen the engine is switched off.
Displaysintheinstrumentcluster
Generalinformation The display in the tachometer
indicates that the Auto Start/ Stop function is ready for an Auj
tomatic engine start.
The display indicates that the conditions for an automatic enjgine stop have not been met.
