Snowchains
Safetyinformation WARNING
With the mounting of snow chains on unj
suitable tires, the snow chains can come into contact with vehicle parts. There is a risk of acj
cidents or risk of damage to property. Only
mount snow chains on tires that are desigj nated by their manufacturer as suitable for the
use of snow chains.'

SafetyinformationWARNING
The display of the target pressures is not
a substitute for the tire inflation pressure dej
tails on the vehicle. Incorrect entries in the tire
settings can lead to incorrect target tire inflaj tion pressure values. In this case, it cannot beguaranteed that the notification of a loss of tire
inflation pressure will be reliable. There is a risk of injury and risk of damage to property. Enj
sure that the tire sizes of the mounted tires are
entered correctly and match the details on the
tires and on the vehicle.'

Currenttireinflationpressure
The current tire inflation pressure is displayed
for each tire.
The current tire inflation pressures may
change during driving operation or depending
on the external temperature.
Currenttiretemperature
The current tire temperatures are displayed, depending on the model.
The current tire temperatures may change
during driving operation or depending on the
external temperature.
Targetpressure
The target pressure for the tires on the front
and rear axles is displayed.
The target pressures are values stored in the
vehicle.
The specified target pressures take the influj
ence of driving operation and external temperj
ature on the tire temperature into account. The
appropriate target pressure is always disj
played, independent of the weather situation,
tire temperatures and driving times.
The displayed target pressure may change and
may differ from the tire inflation pressure dej
tails on the door pillar of the driver's door. The
tire inflation pressure can thus be corrected to the value of the displayed target pressures.
The target pressure is immediately adjusted if the vehicle load is changed in the tire settings.

color of the wheels and a SMS text message
on the Control Display.

1.Identify the damaged tire.
Check the tire inflation pressure in all four tires, for instance using the tire pressuregage of a flat tire kit.
For tires with special approval: if the tire inj
flation pressure in all four tires is correct,
the TPM may not have been reset. In this case, perform the reset. If tire damage cannot be found, contact a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.2.Repair the flat tire, e.g., with a flat tire kit or
by changing the wheel.
Use of sealant, for instance from the flat tire kit, may damage the TPM wheel electronics. Have
the electronics replaced at the next opportuj
nity.
Run-flattires Safetyinformation WARNING
Your vehicle handles differently with a
run-flat with no or low inflation pressure; for inj stance, your lane stability when braking is rejduced, braking distances are longer and the
self-steering properties will change. There is a
risk of an accident.
Drive moderately and do not exceed a speed of 50 mph/80 km/h.'

For tires with special approval: if the tire inj
flation pressure in all four tires is correct,
the Tire Pressure Monitor may not have
been reset. In this case, perform the reset.
Possibledrivingrangewitha
depressurizedtire
The possible driving range varies depending on the how the vehicle is loaded and used, e.g.,
speed, road conditions, external temperature.
The driving range may be less but may also be
more if an economical driving style is used.
If the vehicle is loaded with an average weight and used under favorable conditions, its possij
ble driving range will be up to 50 miles/80 km.
Vehiclehandlingwithdamagedtires
Vehicles driven with a damaged tire will handle
differently, potentially leading to conditions such as the following:
'yGreater likelihood of swerving off course.'yLonger braking distances.'yChanged self-steering properties.
Modify your driving style. Avoid abrupt steerjing maneuvers or driving over obstacles, for inj
stance curbs or potholes.
Finaltirefailure
Vibrations or loud noises while driving can indij
cate the final failure of a tire.
Reduce speed and stop; otherwise, pieces of
the tire could come loose and cause an accij
dent.
Do not continue driving. Contact a dealerss
service center or another qualified service cenj
ter or repair shop.
Systemlimits
Temperature
The tire inflation pressure depends on the
tire's temperature.
Driving or exposure to the sun will increase the
tire's temperature, thus increasing the tire inj flation pressure.
The tire inflation pressure is reduced when the tire temperature falls again.
These circumstances may cause a warning
when temperatures fall very sharply.
Following a temperature-related warning, the
target pressures are displayed on the Control
Display again after a short distance.
Suddentirepressureloss The system cannot indicate sudden serious
tire damage caused by external circumstances.
Failuretoperformareset Tires with special approval: the system will notfunction correctly if a reset was not performed,
for example a flat tire may be indicated alj

then illuminated continuously. A Check

DeclarationaccordingtoNHTSA/
FMVSS138TirePressureMonitoring
System
Each tire, including the spare (if provided)should be checked monthly when cold and injflated to the inflation pressure recommendedby the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicleplacard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your
vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation
pressure label, you should determine the
proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring
system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire presj
sure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when
the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you
should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper presj
sure. Driving on a significantly under-inflated
tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to
tire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel efj ficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the
vehicle's handling and stopping ability. Please
note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's
responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure,
even if under-inflation has not reached the
level to trigger illumination of the TPMS low
tire pressure telltale. Your vehicle has also
been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indij
cator to indicate when the system is not operj
ating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicaj
tor is combined with the low tire pressure
telltale. When the system detects a malfuncj
tion, the telltale will flash for approximately one
minute and then remain continuously illumij
nated. This sequence will continue upon subj
sequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malj
function exists. When the malfunction indicator
is illuminated, the system may not be able to
detect or signal low tire pressure as intended.
TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of
reasons, including the installation of replacej
ment or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle
that prevent the TPMS from functioning propj
erly. Always check the TPMS malfunction tellj
tale after replacing one or more tires or wheels
on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement
or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS
to continue to function properly.
FTMFlatTireMonitor
Concept The system detects tire inflation pressure losson the basis of rotation speed differences bej
tween the individual wheels while driving.
In the event of a tire inflation pressure loss, the
diameter and therefore the rotational speed of
the corresponding wheel changes. The differj
ence will be detected and reported as a flat
tire.
The system does not measure the actual inflaj
tion pressure in the tires.
Functionalrequirements
The following conditions must be met for the
system; otherwise, reliable flagging of a loss of tire inflation pressure is not assured:'yAfter a tire or wheel replacement, an initialj
ization was performed with the correct tire
inflation pressure.'yAfter the tire inflation pressure was adj
justed to a new value, an initialization was performed.Seite 288MobilityWheelsandtires288

An initialization must be performed in the folj lowing situations:
'yAfter the tire inflation pressure has been
adjusted.'yAfter a tire or wheel replacement.
Performinginitialization
When initializing, the set tire inflation presj sures serve as reference values in order to dej
tect a flat tire. Initialization is started by conj
firming the tire inflation pressures.
Do not initialize the system when driving with
snow chains.
