The vehicle will be locked after closing the
tailgate. The driver's door must be closed
for this purpose and the remote control
must be outside of the vehicle in the area
of the tailgate.
Interruptionoftheclosingprocedure
The closing procedure is interrupted in the folj
lowing situations:
'yIf the vehicle starts off with a jerky movej
ment.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of
the tailgate. Pressing again re-opens the tailgate.'yBy pressing the button on the inside of thetailgate. Pressing again re-opens the tailj
gate.'yBy releasing the button in the driver's door.
Pressing again and holding continues the
closing motion.
Malfunction

With manual operation of a blocked tailj
gate, it can release itself unexpectedly from the blockage. There is a risk of injury or risk ofdamage to property. Do not operate the tailj

Regardless of the remote control in use, a difj

Alarmsystem

When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarm
system reacts to the following changes:
'yOpening a door, the hood, or the tailgate.'yMovements in the car's interior.'yChanges in the vehicle tilt, e. g., during atj tempts at stealing a wheel or when towing
the vehicle.'yDisconnected battery voltage.'yImproper use of the socket for OBD Onj
board Diagnosis.
The alarm system signals these changes visuj
ally and acoustically:

Depending on local regulations, the acousj
tic alarm may be suppressed.'yBy switching on the hazard warning sysj tem.'yBy flashing the daytime running lights.Switchingon/off
When you unlock and lock the vehicle, either
with the remote control or with Comfort Acj cess, the alarm system is switched off and on
at the same time.

The alarm system is triggered when a door is
opened if the door was unlocked using the integrated key in the door lock.

The tailgate can be opened even when the alarm system is switched on.
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and
monitored again provided the doors are
locked. The hazard warning system flashes
once.
Panicmode You can trigger the alarm system if you findyourself in a dangerous situation.'yPress button on the remote conj
trol and hold for at least 3 secj

The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion senj
sor can trigger an alarm, although no unauthorj ized action occurred.
Possible situations for an unwanted alarm:'yIn automatic vehicle washes.'yIn duplex garages.'yDuring transport on trains carrying vehij
cles, at sea or on a trailer.'yWith animals in the vehicle.'yAt the gas station: if the vehicle is locked
after refueling starts.
The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion sensor can be switched off in such situations.

is locked.
The indicator light lights up for approx. 2 secj onds and then continues to flash.

The safety switch in the driver's door can be
used to prevent children, for instance from opening and closing the rear windows using
the switches in the rear.

windows
WARNING
With closed roller sunblinds and open
windows, the roller sunblinds can be loaded
heavily while driving due to the wind. The roller
sunblinds can be damaged and compromise
the occupants. There is a risk of injury. Do not open the windows while driving if the roller
sunblinds are closed.'

Comfortposition
In some models, the wind noises in the car's
interior are lowest when the glass sunroof is
not fully open. In these models, the automatic
function initially only opens the glass sunroof
up to this comfort position.
Pressing the switch again opens the glass sunj
roof fully.
Jamprotectionsystem
Generalinformation
If the closing force exceeds a certain value when closing the glass sunroof, the closing opj
eration is interrupted once the roof reaches the half-open position, or it is stopped when closj
ing from the tilted position.
The glass sunroof opens slightly.
Closingfromtheopenposition
withoutjamprotection
If there is an external danger, proceed as folj lows:1.Push the switch forward past the resistj
ance point and hold.
The glass sunroof closes with limited jam protection. If the closing force exceeds aspecific threshold, closing is interrupted.2.Push the switch forward again past the rej
