Lossoftheremotecontrols
A lost remote control can be blocked and rej
placed by a dealerss service center or another
qualified service center or repair shop.
Malfunction
Generalinformation
A Check Control message is displayed.
Remote control detection by the vehicle may malfunction under the following circumstanj
ces:'yThe battery of the remote control is disj charged. Replacing the battery, refer to
page 40.'yInterference of the radio connection from
transmission towers or other equipmentwith high transmitting power.'yShielding of the remote control due tometal objects.
Do not transport the remote control toj gether with metal objects.'yInterference of the radio connection from mobile phones or other electronic devices
in direct proximity to the remote control.
Do not transport the remote control tojgether with electronic devices.'yInterference of radio transmission by a
charging process of mobile devices, for inj stance charging of a mobile phone.'yThe remote control is in direct proximity ofthe wireless charging tray.
Place the remote control down at a differj
ent location.
In the case of interference, the vehicle can be
unlocked and locked from the outside with the
integrated key, refer to page 41.
Startingtheengineviaemergency
detectionoftheremotecontrol
It is not possible to start the engine if the rejmote control has not been detected.
It is not possible to switch on the drive-ready
state if the remote control has not been dej tected.
Proceed as follows in this case:
1.Hold the remote control with its back against the marked area on the steering
column. Pay attention to the display in the instrument cluster.2.If the remote control is detected:
Start the engine within 10 seconds.
If the remote control is not detected, slightly
change the position of the remote control and repeat the procedure.
Integratedkey Generalinformation
The driver's door can be locked and unlocked without remote control using the integrated
key.
Safetyinformation WARNING
Unlocking from the inside is only possij
ble with special knowledge.

ComfortAccess
Concept
The vehicle can be accessed without activatj
ing the remote control.
All you need to do is to have the remote conj
trol with you, such as in your pants pocket.
The vehicle automatically detects the remote
control when it is in close proximity or in the
car's interior.
Generalinformation Comfort Access supports the following funcj
tions:
'yUnlocking and locking the vehicle.'yConvenient closing.'yOpen the tailgate.
Functionalrequirements
'yTo lock the vehicle, the remote control must be located outside of the vehicle near
the doors.'yThe next unlocking and locking cycle is not possible until after approx. 2 seconds.Unlocking
Grasp the handle of a vehicle door completely.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Locking
Touch the surface on the handle of a vehicledoor with your finger for approx. 1 secondwithout grasping the door handle.
This corresponds with pressing the button

on the remote control.
Convenientclosing
Safetyinformation WARNING
With convenient closing, body parts can
be jammed. There is a risk of injury. Make sure
that the area of movement of the doors is clear
during convenient closing.'

Closing
Touch the surface on the handle of a vehicledoor, arrow, with your finger and hold it there
without grasping the door handle.
This corresponds with pressing and holding
the button
on the remote control.
In addition to locking, the windows and the
glass sunroof close and the exterior mirrors fold in.
Openingthetailgate
Generalinformation
To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not place the remote control in the cargo area.
If the tailgate is opened via Comfort Access,
locked doors are not unlocked.

sure that the area of movement of the tailgate

Wet or snowy conditions may disrupt the lockjing request recognition function on the door
handles.
In the case of a malfunction, unlock and lock
the vehicle using the buttons of the remote
control or using the integrated key, refer to page 41.
Tailgate
Generalinformation To avoid locking it in the vehicle, do not placethe remote control in the cargo area.
Depending on your vehicle's equipment and
the country version, it is possible to specify
whether the doors are also unlocked when unj locking with the remote control. Adjusting the
settings, refer to page 50.

FromtheinsidePress button in the driver's door.If the vehicle is locked, selector lever poj
sition P must be engaged first.
If the vehicle is stationary, the tailgate opens
automatically to the adjusted opening height.
Interruptionoftheopeningprocedure
The opening procedure is interrupted in the following situations:'yWhen the vehicle starts moving.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of
the tailgate. Pressing again closes the tailj gate.'yBy pressing the button on the inside of thetailgate. Pressing again closes the tailgate.'yBy pressing the button on the remote conj
trol. Pressing again continues the opening
motion.'yBy pressing or pulling the button in the
driver's door. Pressing again continues the
opening motion.
Closing
Functionalrequirement
The lower tailgate must be closed; otherwise, a
Check Control message will appear.
Fromtheoutside
Press the button on tailgate's exterior.
Fromtheinside Pull and hold the button in the driverdoor.
The remote control must be located in the
car's interior for this function.
An acoustic signal sounds before the tailgate is
closed.
Frominsidethetailgate
Without Comfort Access:
Press button on the inside of the tailgate.
With Comfort Access:
'yPress button, arrow 1, on the inside of the
tailgate.'yPress button, arrow 2.
The vehicle will be locked after closing the
tailgate. The driver's door must be closed
for this purpose and the remote control
must be outside of the vehicle in the area
of the tailgate.
Interruptionoftheclosingprocedure
The closing procedure is interrupted in the folj
lowing situations:
'yIf the vehicle starts off with a jerky movej
ment.'yBy pressing the button on the outside of

Lowertailgate
Opening
Pull the lever and swing the tailgate down. When open, the tailgate can support loads ofup to 550 lbs/250 kg.
Closing Swing the tailgate up and press it back into pojsition.
Malfunction
Safetyinformation WARNING
Danger of jamming with folding down the
backrests. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage to property. Make sure that the area ofmovement of the rear backrest and the of thehead restraint is clear prior to folding down.'

Profilemanagement
Openingprofiles Regardless of the remote control in use, a difjferent profile may be activated. This allows youto call up personal vehicle settings, even if you
did not unlock the vehicle with your own rej
mote control.

The following functions are executed:
'yAll settings stored in the called-up profile are automatically applied.'yThe called-up profile is assigned to the rejmote control being used at the time.'yIf the profile is already assigned to a differjent remote control, this profile will apply toboth remote controls.
Usingaguestprofile
The guest profile is for individual settings thatare stored in none of the three personal proj
files.

The guest profile cannot be renamed. It is not assigned to the current remote control.
Renamingprofiles A personal name can be assigned to every projfile to avoid confusion between the profiles.

Resetprofiles
The settings of the profile currently in use are reset to their factory settings.

Exporting is helpful when storing and retrieving personal settings, for instance before deliverj
ing the vehicle to a workshop. Profiles can be

Personal Profile function.

Importingprofiles
Profiles exported via BMW Online can also be imported via BMW Online.
Profiles stored on a USB storage device can be

Depending on your vehicle's equipment and
the country version, various settings for openj ing and closing are possible.
These settings are stored for the driver profile,
refer to page 48, currently used.
Unlocking

Only the driver's door and the fuel filler
flap are unlocked. Pressing again unj locks the entire vehicle.'y"All doors"
