SideViewPrinciple
Side View provides you with an advance view
of crossing traffic at blind exits. Road users
hidden by obstacles at the side are only detecj
ted very late from the driver's seat. To improve
visibility, a camera in the front and rear of the
vehicle records the side area of the traffic.
On the upper edge of the screen it is shown
which camera is active.
Safetynote WARNING
The system does not release you from
your personal responsibility to estimate the traffic situation. Danger of accidents. Adaptdriving style to the traffic conditions. Additionj
ally, look directly to check the traffic situation and the area around the vehicle and interveneactively in the corresponding situations.'

Display
Yellow symbol is shown if an approachjing vehicle is detected by the camera.
Grey symbol is shown if the detectionof crossing traffic is not possible.
Systemlimits
In the following situations, the warning of
crossing traffic may be restricted:
'yIn poor light or visibility.'yWith a dirty or covered camera.
Systemlimits
The objects shown on the Control Display are may be closer than they appear. The distance
to objects is therefore not estimated on the
display.
The angle of view is approximately 180p.
ParkAssistant Principle
The system supports you when parking in parj
allel to the road.
General
Handling of the Park Assistant is divided into
three steps:
'ySwitching on and activating.'yParking space search.'yParking.
Ultrasonic sensors measure parking spaces on
both sides of the vehicle.
The park assistant calculates the ideal parking line and takes over steering, accelerating,
braking and any gear changes during the procj
ess of parking. Press and hold the Park Assisj tant button for the duration of the parking
process.
The status of the system and necessary action
instructions are shown on the Control Display.

Safetyinstructions WARNING
The system does not release you from
your personal responsibility to estimate the traffic situation. Due to limits of the system, it
cannot respond independently in a reasonable
way in all traffic conditions. Danger of accij dents. Adapt driving style to the traffic condijtions. Observe the traffic situation and interjvene actively if the situation warrants it.'

ample a coat.'yWith external disruption to the ultrasound, for example by passing vehicles or loud
machines.'yIf the sensors are dirty, iced-up, damaged
or incorrectly adjusted.'yIn certain weather conditions, for example high humidity, rain, snowfall, extreme heat
or strong wind.'yWith trailer noses and tow hitches of other
vehicles.'yWith thin or wedge-shaped objects.'yWith moving objects.'yFor higher, protruding objects, for example
projecting walls or loads.'yFor objects with corners and sharp edges.'yFor objects with fine surfaces or strucj
tures, for example fences.'yFor objects with porous surfaces.'yWith projecting transported load.'yLow objects already indicated, such as
kerbs, may enter the sensors' blind areas
before or after a continuous tone is given.
In some cases, parking spaces may be detecj ted that are not suitable or suitable parking
spaces may not be detected.

ClimateVehicleequipmentThis chapter describes all standard, national
and special equipment provided in the model
series. Equipment not available in the vehicle is
therefore also described, for example the sej lected special equipment or country variant. This also applies to safety-relevant functions
and systems. Comply with the relevant laws and regulations when using the corresponding
functions and systems.Interiorairquality
The air quality inside the vehicle is improved
by an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter and a climate-control system for regulatingtemperature, air flow and recirculated-airmode.
In addition there are other functions which dej
pend on the vehicle's equipment, for example microfilter/activated charcoal filter, automaticair conditioning with automatic air recirculationcontrol AUC, and independent ventilation.

Temperature
Principle
The automatic air conditioning adjusts to the
set temperature as quickly as possible, using
maximum cooling or heating power if necesj
sary. The temperature is then maintained.
Adjusting Turn the wheel to select the dejsired temperature.
Avoid switching between different temperaturesettings in rapid succession. The automatic airconditioning will otherwise not have sufficient
time to establish the temperature selected.
Display
A symbol is permanently shown in the disj
play for automatic air conditioning.
Coolingfunction
Principle
Interior air is cooled and dried, then reheated
to suit the temperature setting.
The interior can only be cooled when the enj
gine is running.
Switchingon/off Press the button.
The cooling function is switched on or
off.
Depending on weather conditions, the windj
screen and side windows may mist over for a
short time when the engine is started.
The cooling function is switched on automatij
cally in the AUTO programme.
When using the automatic air conditioning,
condensation, see page 200, develops that
exits underneath the vehicle.
Maximumcoolingeffect
Principle
System is set to lowest temperature, optimum
air flow and recirculated-air mode.
