sation sensor.
SYNCprogramme Principle
The system enables current settings for the
driver's side for temperature, air flow, air distrij bution and AUTO programme to be transferred
to the passenger's side and into the rear on the left/right.
Switchingon/off
The programme is switched off if setjtings are changed on the front pasj
senger's side or in the rear passenger comj partment.
Residualheat
Principle
The heat saved in the engine is used to heat up the interior. This is possible for up to 15 mij
nutes after the engine has been stopped.

LED is illuminated when system
switched on.
To do this, point the side nozzles at the side windows if necessary.
The air flow can be adapted when the proj
gramme is active.
If there is condensation on the window, switch on the cooling function as well or press the AUTO button to use the condensation sensor.
Rearwindowheating Press the button. LED is illuminated. The rear window heating is switched
off automatically after a certain period of time.
Microfilter/activatedcarbonfilter
The microfilter traps dust and pollen in the inj coming air.
The activated charcoal filter removes gaseous
pollutants from the outside air entering the vej hicle.

Temperature Turn the wheel to select the dejsired temperature.
The automatic air conditioning sets this temj perature as quickly as possible, using maxijmum cooling or heating power if necessary. The temperature is then maintained.
Avoid switching between different temperature settings in rapid succession. The automatic airconditioning will otherwise not have sufficient
time to establish the temperature selected.

Independentventilation/
auxiliaryheating
Principle The independent ventilation system ventilatesthe passenger compartment and lowers itstemperature under some circumstances.
The auxiliary heating system warms up thepassenger compartment; snow and ice can be
removed more easily. With the ignition
switched off, the air is automatically directed
towards the windscreen, side windows and footwell.
General
The systems can be switched on and off dij
rectly or via two preselected departure times.
The switch-on time is automatically deterj
mined from the temperature. The systems will
switch on in good time before the preselected departure time.
This function is possible using the iDrive or the
remote control.

InteriorequipmentVehicleequipmentThis chapter describes all standard, national
and special equipment provided in the model
series. Equipment not available in the vehicle is
therefore also described, for example the sej lected special equipment or country variant. This also applies to safety-relevant functions
and systems. Comply with the relevant laws and regulations when using the corresponding
functions and systems.
Integrateduniversalremote
control
Principle
The universal remote control integrated in the rear-view mirror can be used to operate up to 3 functions of radio-controlled systems, e.g. gaj
rage door drives or lighting systems. The integrated universal remote control replaces
up to 3 different hand-held remotes. For operj ation, the buttons on the rear-view mirror must
be programmed with the desired functions.
The relevant system is needed to programme
the hand-held remote.
Before you sell the vehicle, delete the saved
functions beforehand for your own security.
Safetynote WARNING
Parts of the body can be trapped when
operating radio-controlled systems with the integrated universal remote control, for examjple garage door. Danger of injury or damage to
property. When programming and operating,
make sure that the area of movement of the
particular system is free. Also follow the safety
instructions supplied with the hand-held transj
mitter.'

of 5 to 30 cm, 2 to 12 in away from the butjtons on the rear-view mirror. The gap rejquired depends on the hand-held transmitjter.4.Hold down the button of the desired funcjtion on the hand-held transmitter and the
button to be programmed on the rear-view mirror at the same time. The LED on the
rear-view mirror starts to flash slowly.5.As soon as the LED flashes faster, release
both buttons. The faster flashing shows
that the buttons on the rear-view mirror have been programmed.
If the LED does not start to flash faster afj
ter at most 60 seconds, change the disj
tance between the rear-view mirror and
hand-held transmitter, and repeat the step.
Several attempts at various distances may
be necessary. Wait at least 15 seconds bej
tween attempts.6.To program other functions on other butj
tons, repeat steps 3 to 5.
The systems can be operated with the buttons on the rear-view mirror.
Specialinstructionforalternating-
coderadiosystems
If the system cannot be operated after repeajted programming, check whether the systemto be operated is equipped with an alternating-
code radio system.
To do that, look this up in the user manual of
the system or hold down the programmed butj ton on the rear-view mirror for longer. If the
LED on the rear-view mirror first flashes rapidly and then illuminates constantly for 2 seconds,
the system is equipped with an alternating-
code radio system. The flashing and illuminatj ing of the LED repeats for approximately
20 seconds.
For systems with an alternating-code radio system, the integrated universal remote conj trol and the system must also be synchronj
ised.
Please find information on the synchronisation
in the user manual of the system to be set.
A second person makes synchronisation easj
ier.
Synchronise integrated universal remote conj trol with system:1.Park your vehicle within the range of the
radio-remote-controlled system.2.The desired button on the rear-view mirror is programmed as described.3.Locate the button for synchronisation on
the system to be set and press. The next step must be carried out within approxij
mately 30 seconds.4.Hold down the programmed button on the
rear-view mirror for 3 seconds and then rej
lease. Repeat this working step as needed
up to three times to complete synchronisaj
tion. When synchronisation is completed, the programmed function is run.
Reprogrammingindividualbuttons
1.Switch on ignition.2.Press and hold the button on the rear-view
mirror to be programmed.3.As soon as the LED on the rear-view mirror flashes, hold the hand-held transmitter at a
distance of 5 to 30 cm, 2 to 12 in from the buttons on the rear-view mirror. The gap
required depends on the hand-held transj
mitter.4.Press and also hold the button for the dej sired function on the hand-held transmitj
ter.5.As soon as the LED on the rear-view mirror flashes faster, release both buttons. The
faster flashing shows that the buttons on the rear-view mirror have been programjmed. Then the system can be operated on
the rear-view mirror.
If the LED does not start to flash faster afj
ter at most 60 seconds, change the disj
tance and repeat the programming fromSeite 180ControlsInteriorequipment180
