pressure on the accelerator pedal.
After the rocker switch is released, the vej
hicle maintains its final speed. Pressing the
switch beyond the resistance point causes
the vehicle to accelerate more rapidly.
Continuingcruisecontrol
Generalinformation
An interrupted cruise control can be continued
by calling up the stored speed.
Make sure that the difference between current speed and stored speed is not too large before
calling up the stored speed. Otherwise, uninj
tentional braking or accelerating may occur.
In the following cases, the stored speed value
is deleted and cannot be called up again:
'yWhen the system is switched off.'yWhen the ignition is switched off.

PDCParkDistanceControl
Concept
PDC is a support when parking. When you
slowly approach an object in the rear - or also
in the front of the vehicle if the feature is availaj ble - then the object is reported through:
'ySignal tones.'yVisual display.
Generalinformation
The ultrasound sensors for measuring the disj
tances are located in the bumpers.
The maneuvering range, depending on the obj
stacle and environmental conditions, is approx.
6 ft/2 m.
An acoustic warning is first given in the followj ing situations:

ner sensors at approx. 24 in/60 cm from
the object.'yBy the rear middle sensors at a distance to
the object of approx. 5 ft/1.50 m.'yWhen a collision is imminent.
Safetyinformation
WARNING
The system does not relieve from perj
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situaj tion. Based on the limits of the system, it canjnot independently react to all traffic situations.
There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closelyand actively intervene where appropriate.'

Press park assistance button.'yOn: the LED lights up.'yOff: the LED goes out.
The rearview camera image is displayed if the
reverse gear is engaged when pressing the
park assistance button.
WARNING
Signaltones An intermittent tone indicates when the vehijcle is approaching an object. E.g., if an object
is detected to the left rear of the vehicle, a sigj
nal tone sounds from the left rear speaker.
The shorter the distance to the object, the
shorter the intervals.
If the distance to a detected object is less than
approx. 10 inches/25 cm, a continuous tone is sounded.
With front PDC: if objects are simultaneously located both in front of and behind the vehicle, an alternating continuous signal is sounded.
Volume
The ratio of the PDC signal tone volume to the
entertainment volume can be adjusted.
Using iDrive:
1."Multimedia", "Radio" or "Settings"2."Tone"3."Volume settings"4."PDC"5.Turn the Controller until the desired setj ting is selected.6.Press the Controller.
Settings are stored for the profile currentlyused.
Visualwarning
The approach of the vehicle to an object can be shown on the Control Display. Objects that
are farther away are already displayed on the Control Display before a signal sounds.
A display appears as soon as Park Distance Control (PDC) is activated.
The range of the sensors is represented in the
colors green, yellow and red.
When the image of the rearview camera is disj played, the switch can be made to PDC:
"Rear view camera"

Safetyinformation WARNING
The system can react not at all, too late,
incorrectly, or without justification due to the system limits. There is a risk of accidents or
risk of damage to property. Follow the informaj

Falsewarnings
The system may issue a warning under the folj lowing conditions even though there is no objstacle within the detection range:
'yIn heavy rain.'yWhen sensors are very dirty or coveredwith ice.'yWhen sensors are covered in snow.'yOn rough road surfaces.'yOn uneven surfaces, such as speed
bumps.'yIn large buildings with right angles and
smooth walls, for instance in underground
garages.'yIn automatic vehicle washes.'yDue to heavy exhaust.'yDue to other ultrasound sources, for inj
stance sweeping machines, high pressure steam cleaners or neon lights.
If necessary, switch off automatic PDC activajtion on obstacle detection, for instance in vehij
cle washes, to reduce false alarms.
Malfunction
A Check Control message is displayed.
The range of the sensors is shown as a shaded area on the Control Display.
PDC has failed. Have the system checked by a
dealerss service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

Pathwaylines
Pathway lines can be superimposed on the imj
age of the rearview camera.
Pathway lines help you to estimate the space
required when parking and maneuvering on level roads.
Pathway lines depend on the current steering angle and are continuously adjusted to the
steering wheel movements.
Turningradiuslines
Turning radius lines can only be superimposed
on the rearview camera image together with pathway lines.
Turning radius lines show the course of the
smallest possible turning radius on a level road.
Only one turning radius line is displayed after
the steering wheel is turned past a certain anj
gle.
Obstaclemarking
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, obstaj
cles behind the vehicle are detected by the
PDC Park Distance Control sensors and the
rearview camera.
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, obstacle
markings can be faded into the image of the rearview camera.
The colored thresholds of the obstacle markj
ings match the markings of the PDC Park Disj
tance Control.

Detectionofobjects
Very low obstacles as well as high, protruding objects such as ledges may not be detected by
the system.
If the vehicle is equipped accordingly, some
assistance functions also consider data from
PDC Park Distance Control.
Follow the notes in the PDC Park Distance
Control chapter.
The objects displayed on the Control Display may be closer than they appear. Do not estij
mate the distance from the objects on the disj

TopView
Concept
Top View provides assistance in parking and maneuvering. The area around the vehicle is
shown on the Control Display.
Generalinformation The image is captured by two cameras
integrated in the exterior mirrors, by the rearj view camera and a camera on the front of thevehicle.
The range is no more than approx. 6.5 ft/2 m to
the side, front and rear.
Obstacles within this range are thus displayed early on the Control Display.
Safetyinformation WARNING
The system does not relieve from perj
sonal responsibility to assess the traffic situaj tion. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust drivj

Concept
Side View provides an early look at cross trafficat blind driveways and intersections. Road
users concealed by obstacles to the left and right of the vehicle can only be detected relaj
