series. It
also
describes
features

functions
that
are

necessarily
available

your

the
selected
options

When
using
these
functions
and
systems,
the
applicable
laws
and
regulations
must
be

served.
General
information
Depending
on
the
situation,
the
vehicle
is
in
one
of
the
three
states:
'xIdle
state.'xStandby
state.'xDrive-ready
state.
Idle
state
Principle
When
the
vehicle
is
in
idle
state,
it
is
switched
off.
General
information The
vehicle
is
in
idle
state
prior
to
opening
from
the
outside
and
after
exiting
and
locking.
Safety
information
Warning
An
unsecured
vehicle
can
begin
to
move
and
possibly
roll
away.
There
is
a
risk
of
accident.
Before
exiting,
secure
the
vehicle
against
roll#j
ing.
In
order
to
ensure
that
the
vehicle
is
secured against
rolling
away,
follow
the
following:
'xSet
the
parking
brake.'xOn
uphill
grades
or
on
a
downhill
slope,
turn
the
front
wheels
in
the
direction
of
the
curb.'xOn
uphill
grades
or
on
a
downhill
slope,
also
secure
the
vehicle,
for
instance
with
a
wheel
chock.
Warning
Unattended
children
or
animals
in
the
vehicle
can
cause
the
vehicle
to
move
and
endanger themselves
and
traffic,
for
instance
due
to
the
following
actions:

the
Start/Stop

doors

idle
state
For
instance,
the
idle
state
is
automatically

if
no
operation
takes
place
on
the

In
some
situations,
the
idle
state
is
not
set

matically,

instance
during
a
phone
call
or when

low
beams

switched
on.
Establishing
idle
state
when
opening
the
front
doors
After
a
trip,
the
sleep
mode
can
be
established
by
opening
the
front
doors.
For
this
purpose,
the driver
and
front
passenger
must
exit
the
vehicle.

idle
state
To
establish
idle
state
in
the
vehicle
after

pletion

trip:
Press
and
hold
the
button
on
the
radio
until
the
OFF
indicator
on
the
instrument
cluster
goes
out.
Standby
state
Principle
When
standby
state
is
switched
on,
most
func#j tions
can
be
used
while
the
vehicle
is
stationary. Desired
settings
can
be
adjusted.
General
informationThe
vehicle
is
in
the
standby
state
after
the
front
doors
are
opened
from
the
outside.
Display
in
the
instrument
cluster
OFF
is
displayed
in
the
instru#jment
cluster.
The
drivetrain
is
switched
off
and
standby
state switched
on.
Drive
readiness
Principle
Turning
on
drive-ready
state
corresponds
to
starting
the
engine.
General
information Some
functions,
such
as
DSC
Dynamic
Stability
Control,
can
only
be
used
with
drive-ready
state
switched
on.
Safety
information
DANGER
If
the
exhaust
pipe
is
blocked
or
ventilation
is
in#j
sufficient,
harmful
exhaust
gases
can
enter
into the
vehicle.
The
exhaust
gases
contain
pollu#jtants
which
are
colorless
and
odorless.
In
en#j
closed
areas,
exhaust
gases
can
also
accumu#j
late
outside
of
the
vehicle.
There
is
danger
to
life.
Keep
the
exhaust
pipe
free
and
ensure
suf#j
ficient
ventilation.
Warning
An
unsecured
vehicle
can
begin
to
move
and
possibly
roll
away.
There
is
a
risk
of
accident.
Before
exiting,

vehicle

fuel,

cause

catalytic
converter
to
overheat.
There
is
a
risk
of
damage
to
property,
among
other
potential
damage.
Avoid
repeated
starting
of
the
vehicle,
particularly
repeated starting
in
rapid
succession.
Turning
on
drive
readiness
Principle Drive-ready
state
is
switched
on
via
the
Start/Stop
button.
Steptronic
transmission
1.Depress
the
brake
pedal.2.Press
the
Start/Stop
button.
The
ignition
is
activated
automatically
for
a
brief
time
and
is
stopped
as
soon
as
the
engine
starts.
Most
of
the
indicator/warning
lights
in
the
instru#j
ment
cluster
light
up
for
a
varied
length
of
time.
Gasoline
engine
Depending
on
the
motorization,
the
full
drive
power
may
not
be
available
for
approximately
30
seconds
after
starting
the
engine.
In
this
case,
the
vehicle
will
not
accelerate
as
usual.

Display
in
the
instrument
cluster
The
activated
drive
readiness
is
indicated
in
the instrument
cluster,
depending
on
the
equipment,
by
the
display
of
information
required
for
driving
or
the
READY
display.

external

calendar,

also
the
connection
and

mobile

Navigation

the
navigation
system,
destination
input

traffic
bulletins.
