3-5 Ventilation System
For mild outside temperatures, when little heating or
cooling is needed, you can still direct outside air through
your vehicle.
Move the air intake lever to OUTSIDE AIR and the
airflow lever to BI
-LEVEL. Adjust the temperature
control lever to a comfortable setting and move the fan
control lever toward the fan symbol.
Your vehicle's flow
-through ventilation system supplies
outside air into the vehicle when it is moving. Outside
air will also enter the vehicle when the fan is running
and the air intake lever is at OUTSIDE AIR.
JE±13±0003±X
Your vehicle has air
outlets that allow you
to adjust the direction
and amount of airflow
inside the vehicle. You can direct the airflow side
-to-side by rotating the
thumbwheel located in the center of the vent. The vent
can be tilted up and down also. To control the amount of
airflow though the outlets, rotate the thumbwheel below
the vent.
Ventilation Tips
Keep the hood and front air inlet free of ice, snow or any
other obstruction (such as leaves). The heater and
defroster will work far better, reducing the chance of
fogging the inside of your windows.
When you enter a vehicle in cold weather, move the fan
control lever toward the fan symbol for a few moments
before driving off. This helps clear the intake ducts of
snow and moisture, and reduces the chance of fogging
the inside of your windows.
Keep the air path under the front seats clear of objects.
This helps air to circulate throughout your vehicle.

CAUTION:
Things you put inside your vehicle can strike
and injure people in a sudden stop or turn, or
in a crash.
Put things in the cargo area of your vehicle.
Try to spread the weight evenly.
Never stack heavier things, like suitcases,
inside the vehicle so that some of them are
above the tops of the seats.
Don't leave an unsecured child restraint in
your vehicle.
When you carry something inside the
vehicle, secure it whenever you can.
Don't leave a seat folded down unless you
need to.
There's also important loading information for off-road
driving in this manual. See ªLoading Your Vehicle for
Off
-Road Drivingº in the Index.
Towing a Trailer
CAUTION:
If you don't use the correct equipment and drive
properly, you can lose control when you pull a
trailer. For example, if the trailer is too heavy, the
brakes may not work well
-- or even at all. You
and your passengers could be seriously injured.
Pull a trailer only if you have followed all the
steps in this section. Ask your dealer for advice
and information about towing a trailer with
your vehicle.
