SAFETY
Side airbags
S y s t e m w h i c h p r o t e c t s t h e d r i v e r a n d
f r o n t p a s s e n g e r i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i -
o u s s i d e i m p a c t i n o r d e r t o l i m i t t h e r i s k
of injury to the chest.
Each side airbag is built into the seat
backrest frame, door side.
Activation
The side airbags are triggered unilater-
a l l y i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s s i d e i m p a c t
a p p l i e d t o a l l o r p a r t o f t h e s i d e i m p a c t
z o n e B , p e r p e n d i c u l a r t o t h e l o n g i t u d i n a l
c e n t r e l i n e o f t h e v e h i c l e o n a h o r i z o n t a l
p l a n e a n d d i r e c t e d f r o m t h e o u t s i d e t o -
wards the inside of the vehicle.
T h e s i d e a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d t h e
c o r r e s p o n d i n g d o o r t r i m p a n e l . Impact detection zones

Curtain airbags

s e r i o u s s i d e i m p a c t i n o r d e r t o l i m i t t h e
risk of injury to the head.

l a r s a n d t h e u p p e r t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m -
p a r t m e n t a r e a . Activation
The curtain airbag is triggered at the
s a m e t i m e a s t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s i d e a i r -
b a g i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s s i d e i m p a c t
a p p l i e d t o a l l o r p a r t o f t h e s i d e i m p a c t
z o n e

t a l p l a n e a n d d i r e c t e d f r o m t h e o u t s i d e
towards the inside of the vehicle.
T h e c u r t a i n a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o r r e a r o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d
the windows.
Operating fault
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n o n
t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l , a c c o m p a n i e d
by an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen,
contact a CITROËN dealer to have the sys-
tem checked. The airbags may no longer be
t r i g g e r e d i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t .
I n t h e e v e n t o f a m i n o r i m p a c t o r
b u m p o n t h e s i d e o f t h e v e h i c l e
or if the vehicle rolls over, the air-
bag may not be triggered.
In the event of a rear or front colli-
sion, the airbag is not triggered.

SAFETY For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the
following safety rules:
S i t i n a n o r m a l u p r i g h t p o s i t i o n .
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
o c c u p a n t s a n d t h e a i r b a g s ( a c h i l d ,
p e t , o b j e c t . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d h a m p e r t h e
o p e r a t i o n o f t h e a i r b a g s o r i n j u r e t h e
o c c u p a n t s .
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e C I T R O Ë N
network.
E v e n i f a l l o f t h e p r e c a u t i o n s m e n t i o n e d
are observed, a risk of injury or of minor
burns to the head, chest or arms when
an airbag is triggered cannot be ruled
o u t . T h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y
( w i t h i n a f e w m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s
within the same time discharging the
h o t g a s v i a o p e n i n g s p r o v i d e d f o r t h i s
p u r p o s e .
Front airbags
D o n o t d r i v e h o l d i n g t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l b y i t s s p o k e s o r r e s t i n g y o u r h a n d s o n
t h e c e n t r e p a r t o f t h e w h e e l .
P a s s e n g e r s m u s t n o t p l a c e t h e i r f e e t o n t h e d a s h b o a r d .
I f p o s s i b l e , d o n o t s m o k e a s d e p l o y m e n t o f t h e a i r b a g s c a n c a u s e b u r n s o r
t h e r i s k o f i n j u r y f r o m a c i g a r e t t e o r p i p e .
