KEEPING YOUR PASSENGERS SAFE
Front passenger’s airbag
1. Open the glove box.
2. Insert the key.
3. Select position:
"ON" (activation), with front passen-
ger or "forwards facing" child seat,
"OFF" (deactivation), with "rear fac-
ing" child seat".
4. Remove the key keeping the switch
in the new position.

Deactivation warning lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g w a r n i n g l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f i n t e n t i o n a l l y .
Passenger's
air bag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front
airbag is deactivated. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g . I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a
child seat in the rear-facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into service
automatically when the vehicle is started.
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at
the bottom left of the
dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The ESP/ASR is
deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp switches off.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h), the
system is reactivated automatically.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.

Airbags temporarily.
This lamp comes on for
a few seconds when you
turn on the ignition, then
switches off. This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.
If it does not switch off, contact a CITROËN
dealer.

has a fault. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Seat belt not

Pull the strap then insert the tongue in the
buckle.

water. Risk of damage to the injection system on Diesel
engines.
Contact a CITROËN dealer without delay.
Power
steering fi x e d . The power steering has a
fault. Drive carefully at reducd speed.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.

Particle
emissions
fi l t e r ( D i e s e l )
fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d
temporarily with lighting of the
service warning lamp. This indicates that the
p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r
is starting to become
saturated. As soon as driving conditions allow, regenerate th
e
fi l t e r b y d r i v i n g a t a s p e e d o f a t l e a s t 3 5 m p h
(60 km/h) until the service warning lamp switches o ff.

level for the Diesel fuel
additive reservoir. Have the reservoir topped up as soon as
possible by a CITROËN dealer.

GLOVE BOX
To open the glove box, raise the
handle.
It houses the front passenger airbag de-
activation switch A .
It gives access to the dashboard fuse-
box (see the "Practical information - §
Changing a fuse" section).
CENTRE ARMREST
Comfort and storage system for the
driver and front passenger.
Storage
For access to the closed storage
box, lift the lever to open the lid.
For access to the open storage box
below the armrest, lift the complete
armrest towards the rear.
These can be used for portable devices
(mobile phone, MP3 player...) which
can be connected to the USB port/Jack
socket or charged from the 12 V socket
in the centre console.
Version with Zenith windscreen
Refer to the "Familiarisation - § Zenith
windscreen" section.

AIRBAGS
System designed to maximise the safety

t h e r e a r c e n t r e p a s s e n g e r ) i n t h e e v e n t
o f v i o l e n t c o l l i s i o n s . I t s u p p l e m e n t s t h e
action of the force-limiting seat belts
( w i t h t h e e x c e p t i o n o f t h e r e a r c e n t r e
p a s s e n g e r ) .
If a collision occurs, the electronic de-
tectors record and analyse the front and
s i d e i m p a c t s s u s t a i n e d i n t h e i m p a c t
d e t e c t i o n z o n e s :
- i n t h e c a s e o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t , t h e airbags are triggered instantly and
p r o t e c t t h e o c c u p a n t s o f t h e v e h i c l e
( w i t h t h e e x c e p t i o n o f t h e r e a r c e n t r e
p a s s e n g e r ) ; i m m e d i a t e l y a f t e r t h e
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility
o r t h e e x i t o f t h e o c c u p a n t s ,
- i n t h e c a s e o f a m i n o r o r r e a r i m p a c t or in certain roll-over conditions, the
a i r b a g s w i l l n o t b e t r i g g e r e d ; t h e
s e a t b e l t a l o n e i s s u f fi c i e n t t o p r o -
v i d e o p t i m u m p r o t e c t i o n i n t h e s e
situations.
The airbags do not operate when
the ignition is switched off.
T h i s e q u i p m e n t w i l l o n l y o p e r a t e
o n c e . I f a s e c o n d i m p a c t o c c u r s
(during the same or a subse-
quent accident), the airbag will
n o t o p e r a t e . Impact detection zones

Triggering of the airbag(s) is ac-
c o m p a n i e d b y a s l i g h t e m i s s i o n
of harmless smoke and a noise,
d u e t o t h e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e p y r o -
t e c h n i c c a r t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d i n
the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but
s e n s i t i v e i n d i v i d u a l s m a y e x p e r i -
ence slight irritation.
The noise of the detonation may
result in a slight loss of hearing
for a short time. Front airbags
S y s t e m w h i c h p r o t e c t s t h e d r i v e r a n d
f r o n t p a s s e n g e r i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i -
o u s f r o n t i m p a c t i n o r d e r t o l i m i t t h e r i s k
of injury to the head and chest.
T h e d r i v e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d i n
t h e c e n t r e o f t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l ; t h e
f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d
in the dashboard above the glove box.
Activation
The airbags are triggered simultaneous- l y , u n l e s s t h e p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g
is disarmed, in the event of a serious
f r o n t i m p a c t a p p l i e d t o a l l o r p a r t o f t h e
f r o n t i m p a c t z o n e
A , in the longitudinal
c e n t r e l i n e o f t h e v e h i c l e o n a h o r i z o n t a l
p l a n e a n d d i r e c t e d f r o m t h e f r o n t t o t h e
rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d t h e
dashboard to cushion their forward
movement.

SAFETY
Deactivation
O n l y t h e p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g c a n
be deactivated:
with the ignition off , insert the key
i n t h e p a s s e n g e r a i r b a g d e a c t i v a t i o n
switch 1 ,
turn it to the "OFF" p o s i t i o n ,
t h e n , r e m o v e t h e k e y k e e p i n g t h e
s w i t c h i n t h i s p o s i t i o n .
T h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n i n
t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l w h e n t h e
ignition is on and until the air-
bag is re-activated. To guarantee the safety of your
c h i l d , i t i s i m p e r a t i v e t h a t t h e
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g i s d i s -
armed when you install a "rear
facing" child seat on the front
p a s s e n g e r s e a t .
Otherwise, the child would risk
being seriously injured or killed if
the airbag were triggered.
Reactivation
When you remove the child seat, turn
switch 1 to the "ON" p o s i t i o n t o r e -
activate the airbag and so assure the
s a f e t y o f y o u r f r o n t p a s s e n g e r i n t h e
e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
With the ignition on, this warn-
i n g l a m p c o m e s o n i n t h e i n s t r u -
m e n t p a n e l f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y
o n e m i n u t e , i f t h e p a s s e n g e r ' s
front airbag is activated. Operating fault
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n o n
t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l , a c c o m p a n i e d
by an audible warning and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen,
contact a CITROËN dealer to have the sys-
tem checked. The airbags may no longer be
t r i g g e r e d i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t .
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s ,
contact a CITROËN dealer.
T h e p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g
may no longer be triggered in
t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t .
If at least one of the two airbag
w a r n i n g l a m p s c o m e o n c o n t i n u -
ously, do not install a child seat
o n t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r s e a t .
Have the system checked by a
CITROËN dealer.

SAFETY For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the
following safety rules:
S i t i n a n o r m a l u p r i g h t p o s i t i o n .
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
o c c u p a n t s a n d t h e a i r b a g s ( a c h i l d ,
p e t , o b j e c t . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d h a m p e r t h e
o p e r a t i o n o f t h e a i r b a g s o r i n j u r e t h e
o c c u p a n t s .
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e C I T R O Ë N
network.
E v e n i f a l l o f t h e p r e c a u t i o n s m e n t i o n e d
are observed, a risk of injury or of minor
burns to the head, chest or arms when
an airbag is triggered cannot be ruled
o u t . T h e b a g i n fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y
( w i t h i n a f e w m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s
within the same time discharging the
h o t g a s v i a o p e n i n g s p r o v i d e d f o r t h i s
p u r p o s e .
Front airbags
D o n o t d r i v e h o l d i n g t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l b y i t s s p o k e s o r r e s t i n g y o u r h a n d s o n
t h e c e n t r e p a r t o f t h e w h e e l .
P a s s e n g e r s m u s t n o t p l a c e t h e i r f e e t o n t h e d a s h b o a r d .
I f p o s s i b l e , d o n o t s m o k e a s d e p l o y m e n t o f t h e a i r b a g s c a n c a u s e b u r n s o r
t h e r i s k o f i n j u r y f r o m a c i g a r e t t e o r p i p e .
N e v e r r e m o v e o r p i e r c e t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l o r h i t i t v i o l e n t l y .
Side airbags
U s e o n l y a p p r o v e d c o v e r s o n t h e s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a t i o n o f t h e
side airbags. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a p p l y a n y t h i n g t o t h e s e a t b a c k s . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e
chest or arms if the side air bag is triggered.

Curtain airbags

the curtain airbag is triggered.

securing the curtain airbags.
