Front
foglamps fi x e d . The front foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards twice to
switch off the front foglamps.
Rear
foglamps fi x e d . The rear foglamps are
switched on. Turn the ring on the stalk rearwards to switch off
the rear foglamps.
Diesel engine
pre-heating fi x e d . The ignition switch is at the
2 nd position (ignition on).
Wait until the warning lamp has switched off before
starting.
The duration for which the warning lamp is on is
determined by the climatic conditions.
Parking brake fi x e d . The parking brake is
applied or not properly
released. Release the parking brake to switch off the
warning lamp, keeping your foot on the brake
pedal.
Observe the safety recommendations.
For further information on the parking brake, refer
to the "Driving" section.
Engine
coolant
temperature fi x e d b l u e On starting the engine, it
indicates that the engine is
cold. After a few minutes driving, it swiches off to
indicate that the engine temperature is normal.
In order to protect your engine, avoid driving too
hard until the warning lamp has switched off.
Foot on the
brake pedal fi x e d . The brake pedal must be
pressed. To start the engine, put the automatic gearbox
selector lever in position
P .
Automatic
wiping fi x e d . The wiper control is pushed
downwards. Automatic front wiping is activated.
Main beam
headlamps fi x e d . The lighting stalk is pulled
towards you. Pull the stalk to return to dipped beam
headlamps.

COMFORT
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VENTILATION AND AIR
CONDITIONING
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and
maintenance guidelines below:
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior
air intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, th e nozzles,
the vents and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor lo cated in the
boot.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard; this is
used for regulation of the air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in perfect working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d h a v e
t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .

breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of th e passenger compart-
ment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours an d greasy deposits).
To guarantee correct operation of the air conditioning syste m, you are
also advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a
CITROËN dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning permits the recovery of engi ne power and
therefore improvement of the towing capacity. If after an extended stop in sun-
shine, the interior temperature is
v e r y h i g h , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e c a b i n
for a few moments.

ting high enough to quickly
change the air in the cabin.
The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger to
the ozone layer.
The condensation created by
the air conditioning results in a
discharge of water under the ve-
hicle which is perfectly normal.

4. Air conditioning on/off Press this button to switch off
the air conditioning.
Stopping the air conditioning may cause
some problems (humidity, misting).
Automatic operation of the air condi-
tioning is resumed when the button is
pressed again. The symbol "A/C" is
displayed.
5. Air intake/Air recirculation
Press this button for recircula-
tion of the interior air. The air
recirculation symbol 5 is dis-
played.
Air recirculation enables the passenger
compartment to be isolated from exte-
rior odours and smoke. 6. Air distribution adjustment
Avoid prolonged recirculation of
interior air (risk of condensation
or deterioration of the air quality).
Pressing this button several
times in succession enables

- the windscreen and the side win- dows (de-icing or demisting),
- the windscreen, side windows and air vents,
- the windscreen, the side windows, the air vents and the footwells,

- the air vents. 7. Air flow adjustment
Press the "full fan" symbol to
i n c r e a s e t h e a i r fl o w .

gressively according to the value re-
quested.
Switching the system off
Avoid driving for long periods
with the air conditioning switched
off (risk of misting and reduction
of the air quality in the cabin). P r e s s t h e a i r fl o w
"empty fan"
b u t t o n o f a i r fl o w 7 until the fan
symbol disappears.
This action switches off all of the func-
tions of the air conditioning system.
Thermal comfort is no longer control-
l e d . A s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r r e s u l t i n g f r o m t h e
movement of the vehicle, remains per-
ceptible however.
P r e s s i n g t h e a i r fl o w "full fan" button of
a i r fl o w 7 or on "AUTO" reactivates the
system with the values set before it was
switched off. Press the
"empty fan" symbol
t o d e c r e a s e t h e a i r fl o w .
For maximum cooling or heating
of the cabin, it is possible to go
beyond the minimum 14 or maxi-
mum 28 values.
Press the blue button 2 until
"LO" is displayed or the red
button 2 until "HI" is displayed. Press this button again or press the
"AUTO" button to resume automatic
management of the intake of air. The
air recirculation symbol 5 is switched

Anti-theft protection
Electronic engine immobiliser
The key contains an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the
ignition is switched on, this code must
be recognised in order for starting to be
possible.
This electronic engine immobiliser locks
the engine management system a few
minutes after the ignition is switched off
and prevents starting of the engine by
anyone who does not have the key. In the event of a malfunc-
tion, you are informed by
lighting of this warning
lamp, an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
In this case, your vehicle does not start;
contact a CITROËN dealer as soon as
possible. Ignition switch
- Position 1:
Stop
- Position 2: Ignition
- Position 3: Starting
Starting the vehicle
Insert the key in the ignition switch.
The system recognises the starting code.
Turn the key fully towards the fascia
to position 3 (Starting) .
When the engine starts, release the
key. Switching the vehicle off
Immobilise the vehicle.
Turn the key fully towards you to posi-
tion 1 (Stop) .
Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
Do not attach any heavy objects
to the key as this could weigh
down on it when in the ignition
switch and cause a fault.
Key reminder
If the key is left in the igni-
tion switch, an audible signal
sounds when the driver's door is
opened.
Locating your vehicle
Press the closed padlock
to locate your locked ve-
hicle in a car park.
This is indicated by lighting of the cour-
t e s y l a m p s a n d fl a s h i n g o f t h e d i r e c t i o n
indicators for a few seconds.

When reverse gear is engaged, the
rear wiper will come into operation if the
windscreen wipers are operating.
Programming
The function is activated or deactivated

Component which protects against sun-
light from the front or the side.
Version without Zenith windscreen
ILLUMINATED GLOVE BOX
This can be used to hold a water bottle.
Its lid has a location for storing the vehicle's
handbook pack.
To open the glove box, raise the
handle.
It is lit when the lid is opened.
It houses the front passenger airbag de-
activation switch A .

CENTRE ARMREST

below the armrest, lift the complete
armrest towards the rear.
These can be used for portable devices
(mobile phone, MP3 player...) which
can be connected to the USB port/Jack
socket or charged from the12 V socket
in the centre console.
