Air fi lter
Follow the recommendations in the Maintenance Guide.
When working under the bonnet, when the engine is hot (even stopped and the ignition switched off), the cooling fan coul d operate at any time.
Check the engine oil level frequently between routine service visits, as well as prior to long journeys.
Engine coolant
The coolant level should be between the MAX and MINmarks on the header tank.
If the engine is hot, wait 15 minutes.

Never work on the cooling system if the engine is hot.
12 volt battery
See "Practical advice".
Engine oil
Check the oil level with the vehicle parked on level ground, after the engine has been switched off for at least fi fteen minutes.

Brake fl uid
The fl uid level must be situ-ated within the MAX and MIN marks visible on the reservoir.
The screenwash fl uid should be replaced periodically as it loses its effectiveness over time.

Take out the oil dipstick.

Specifi cation for the fl uid
To ensure optimum cleaning and to avoid freezing, topping up or fi lling of the reservoir must not be done with just water.

Windscreen and rear screen washer fl uid

It is essential to have suffi cient screen wash fl uid if your vehicle is equipped with Xenon headlamps.
To check the level, place a fi nger on aperture A before removing the cap.
Capacity: 3.5 litres.
Capacity with headlamp washers: 6.5 litres.
Brake fl uid
The synthetic fl uid not only gives protection against corrosion but also ensures correct functioning of the braking system in all environmental conditions, therefore you should only use the synthetic product recom-mended by the CITROËN network. use the synthetic product recom-product
(this fl uid must be replaced every two years).

Note: A light mist fi lm can appear on the internal surface of the headlamp lens in certain climatic conditions (low temperature, humidity). This disappears within a few minutes of switching on the headlamps.
Note: If it should be necessary to access the front RH headlamp, remove the cover by pressing the 2 clips.
REPLACING BULBS
If the headlamp has this symbol, any operation involving changing a Xenon D1S bulb must be carried out by the CITROËN network (risk of electrocution).
It is recommended to change both bulbs at the same time if one is faulty.
FRONT LAMPS, DIRECTIONAL HEADLAMPS

The halogen bulbs should not be changed until they have been off for a few minutes (risk of serious burns).
Do not touch the new bulb directly with your fi ngers; use a lint-free cloth.
It is essential that only anti U.V. type bulbs are used in order not to damage the headlamp.
When using a high-pressure jet wash for cleaning the vehicle, don’t persist on the headlamps and other lamps, particularly around their edges, so as to avoid damaging their lacquer fi nish or seals.

Pull the rubber stops.
Disconnect the bulb.
Disengage the ends of the retaining spring to release it.
Remove the bulb.
Bulb: H1 For vehicles not equipped with Xenon headlamp bulbs.
Headlamp dipped beam
Pull the rubber stops.
Disconnect the bulb.
Disengage the ends of the retaining spring to release it.
Remove the bulb.
Bulb: H7
Note: On HDi 90 and 110 engines, unclip the cover for access to the left hand headlamp.

Front direction indicator

To change the side repeater bulb, press fi rmly in the area indicated by the arrow, then pull on the side repeater.
